DK, how you doing? glad you're back out and about
Okay, though not sure when I'll be back on the bike. Problem is the fractured vertebrae. Hospital seemed to think they're stable and should heal on their own. I'm not sure though if it's safe to go riding yet, especially given the risk of nerve damage when talking about vertebrae. Apparently I got off lucky as could have been worse, especially if there was nerve damage.

Anyway, got a check up in a few weeks and I'll see what they say about riding.

Pieman - Where were you thinking tomorrow? Not 100% sure I have the time to justify the run to Aston and paying to ride.

Don't really mind - Surrey Hills or Swinley - Wheres best for you?
Probably rather Swinley for bit of a change (and I kow have a permit too so might as well make the most of it) but SH are easy for me so I don't mind at all

Just fancy getting out for a bit, not too early to take advantage of a lie in though and will be having a few drinks tonight I expect.

Think you've got my mobile so send me a txt if you want.

I was thinking of getting to Swinley around 9ish. If others want to arrive later and can find the top of the hill, "tims drop" trail or the jump gully then I can easily meet them. Worst case if people get lost easily, I'll come back and collect :)

Trying to pull the mtb boys to Swinley for 930 but could change it to 900.

I'll get up there, but going to lie in, so will probably meet you at Tim's Drop.
Also need to do some minor fettling after Aston.
Will give you a call if I can't find you.

My BB has died on a zesty, bought replacement FSA one and Ice-Toolz keys only to find out that there are no keys n wrenches for press fit BB. Watched Press fit BB video and feel cheated. Looking after lil one and working shoot lot of hours doesn't do my brains any good. I can't even work out how to undo center lock brake disk rotor for some truing. I'm doomed.

popstar - bent rotor? What were you doing to get that? Anyway, there's a lockring a bit like for your cassette to get it off. I assume you just use a lockring tool. If you don't have one happy to loan you my toolkit (although probably faster and cheaper to buy).

sandy hill - sorry, totally missed your post otherwise would have arranged it properly. As it was, we were mostly pootling around working on skills sessioning the same sections after we bumped into you so it might have been for the best. Next time :)

    last but not least...

supra/cooldad - where did you two get to?

Been scratching my head for too long to see which key does what. Could anyone suggest trusted LBS to change press fit BB? I've heard Specialized in Ruislip is shoot Supra*?, so maybe try Pedal n Spoke at peaslake before a ride?

@Atz only managed to get out of bed around 11 so gave up and had a lazy breakfast instead. (Much easier when the;33ter is here to nag me up)
Spent the afternoon degreasing the chain, washing the bike and adjusting/tightening everything, so all perfect, just need to get out of bed a bit earlier tomorrow.
@Stan - I was planning something somewhere. Ws just going to ride down to Swinley. SH a possibility, wouldn't mind an explore at Tunnel Hill with someone who vaguely knows their way around - would you be up to that?
    Anyone else about?

@popstar most use a cassette tool, some (like mine) use an external bb tool.

400 sq metres isn't really that much luckily. Actually surprised they got to it before it burned more than that.

I think there is maybe a zero or three missing. Car crash moor is almost totally burnt out. Id say closer to 400,000 sq meters have burned. no trail damage per-se, although it dies smell toasted.

Solo pootle around Swinley today, but did bump into topcat going the other way. Perfect conditions, warm, dry and a gentle breeze to cool things down.
Seagull, Stickler, Tank traps, Atz's Alpine bit, sessioned Babymaker (left left anyway) a few times, came back along the route marked out for tomorrows race (complete with sound effects of cheering fans), Stickler and Tank Traps again, Whole Nine Yards backwards.
Spent yesterday fettling the bike, which felt great, and after a weeks rest even the body wasn't too revolting.
    Good day.

Any plans for tomorrow or Monday?

@Supra and anyone else - still up for something like Cwm Carm on Monday?

As long as Cooldad say ok anyway. It'll be a good test for the new stem you bought.

You may see Popstar with Naveed in Cwmcarn. Or lonely Popstar in SH burning his legs on XC training.

Trouble with Wales is it's the end of the long weekend, so the traffic back could be really bad. Reckon on 4-5 hours.

Cwmcarn is quicker to get to and back, but to get the best out of it, you'd be best off booking the uplift for the day, which isn't always possible.

Not that I stand a chance of going anywhere for a while. I'm going to be massively unfit by the time I finally can get back on a bike.

Exactly knowing last time we went it was in feb and we still got back around 8 over 2 hours because of traffic starting at reading..

uplifts are all full at least a week in advance.

we would need to pick a weekend and plan in advance for a change.
