If anyone on Sunday is thinking of stopping at a pub or whatever post-ride I might pop along. Back is letting me drive the car and walk about. Just can't get on a bike for a while.

Else I'll be browsing shops for bike things and computer things.

Not 100% sure yet for me. Depends when I get home as apparently I'm off to darkest south London to some event or other and it doesn't finish until 6am (I'll not last that long anyway)

Ended up being a great day at Aston today, it dried up quite nicely eventually and was running really nice. Plus there was a bloke selling drinks and burgers which was cool as I got hungry and thirsty.

Seconded. Great day once it had dried a bit. If you go in May, take cash, buy the food and drink from the bloke in the VW camper as if he gets enough business he'll make it a regular thing at weekends (oh, and the food is really good).

Supra - What happened to "I'll be there at 1pm" ?

SH was great today just a little bit drifty, had to get used to wet roots again, even so, I only had one nice faceplant

Cheers to Rich for the route, and good to meet you all.

Yeah good route today, even if I was taking a bit of strain on the uphills. (How unusual).
Nice to meet Richards friends and relations, and Benpinnick - didn't see much of his riding as we were at different ends of the pack, but nice to see someone more than able to give thel33ter for his money.

Next weekend Swinley 'should' be open again. The locals news this morning was that the fire is out but the ground is still smouldering in places. Theres now just a few fire crews soaking the ground to stop it from springing up again.
If it isn't open again by next weekend i will be very suprised.

You can always get there the back way up from College Ride in Bagshot, takes you in at the bottom of the Labyrinth.

Until it's declared safe again it's not worth the risk, altho the trails would be blissfully quiet. I have never seen the gully jumps when not heaving with bikers

Go Ape apparently are open from today.

Got okay to do simple flat path cycling now, so could at least wander around the fireroads in Swinley. Strictly speaking, simple cycling is okay, MTB is no. Depends how you define MTB :D

Though I'd struggle getting the bike into the car and feels like the slightest bump will give me agony. Need to get the hard tail sorted. Something light and simple for riding flat stuff.

All the fire was over on the Crowthorne and Corkscrew, I live 1km max from the Labyrinth side and there has been no sign of any fire, no smell or anything.

See all the roads are open again today, so hopefully traffic will get back to normal on my commute.
@DK if you feel you are up to some gentle stuff, I'll give you a hand getting your stuff carted around, and keep you company, but don't push it. Mild discomfort may be ok, but not real pain - it's a delicate area - don't mess with it.
We have the Woking Bikeathon this weekend, but free next one.

Yeah, I don't feel up to riding at all yet but was advised gentle cycling amongst some other things could be good for a bit of exercise for the back. If the pains get less I'll see about doing it. Get to see a Physio at some point who hopefully can help things out and give further advice.

Anyway, enjoy the hills and stuff. Look forward to hearing about the gnarl or knarl :D

Popstar was on a bike today for the first time since the last crash. Very hard to ride gnarly stuff as my rib cage doesn't allow sudden movements on a bike, can't stretch out as well so have to rule out long climbs. Hate those injuries.

DKenny high five ! - to the kings of canal towpaths.
    What could have been (Video)

I'll choose not put too much stake into someone's opinion who is admittingly terrible though

By the sound of things, neither of you would be able to execute anything close to a high five... So maybe a "low on the side" should do for now! ;-)

Currently given their recent history, they're likely to punch each other in the nuts by accident if they try that :D

Hi, I am Richard's cousin, Joel, that you met on Sunday. It was good to meet and ride with you all, I really enjoyed it. Learning all the time, so hopefully will be quicker next time and will be able to do something more challenging. Take care all.javascript:emoticon(':D')

    From MBSurreyHills FB post... :(

"Trail Update | Forestry operations on Leith Hill has sadly destroyed Regurgitator; an officially sanctioned trail. Other trails in the area are effected, but only Regurgitator has significant damage to the trail bed and construction. A forestry machine has driven right up the hillside taking out several sections of trail and berms."
