We're there a lot so just keep an eye on this thread (or the Swinley one but mainly post here).
It's a great place to play around, lot's of stuff in a relatively small area, from flowy singletrack to fairly technical stuff, some easy 'downhill' bits, and some evil gnarly stuff for the heroic types, of which I'm not one.

Met up with DK at Swinley today, he's looking normal again, scars gone but still ugly.
Normal as can be. Cleared up well really in the first week. Scars ramaining are tiny and nothing like some of you've got.

Having seen the drop (assume this was it)...

    DSCN1425-1.JPG

it triggers a bit of memory where I do recall stopping here to have a look at them. Don't remember trying them or doing this, but I recognise it.

From the top of this one I can actually see why I might have thought to give it a go. It was lunacy as all I'm capable of doing is a drop the size of a kerb. It doesn't look so much from the top, but clearly I went for it with far too much confidence, probably utterly failed to get the balance right and just thought I could sail over without having to do anything. Then likely just sank straight into the ground head first. Madness considering I'd not even attempted stuff half the size of this ever before.

    Result something like this...

Except less comical, and blood involved. More like I went head first really.

You do look like sacrificed Deadkenny (Jezus style).

Hopefully by this Friday, I will purchase new helmet for MTB and be ready to smoke some 4ss. At least will put a lot of heat on Apprentice in swinley xc style. Finally fixed breaks on Hardrock so HT all the way!

sounds good for a newbie. i like some downhilly bits but nothing too huge yet. getting used to riding coombes lane which has some good practise bits. is it a big group that meet? is there any women? i am female so would be nice to have another girl around!

    Nice pic

That's definitely the right drop, it's a nice one to build confidence on, but wayy to big to practice on without the risk of doing exactly what you did. Kudos for attempting it though.

Cue an enormous input of testosterone, leading to showing off, and more Frimley Park air miles.

Cue sarcastics comments about peoples riding style.

    Cue etc etc.

Now the obvious is out of the way I'm sure you will all behave in a gentlemanly fashion.

Group size depends on the week, where people want to ride, who's got to do their nails etc. Generally thought it's not a big group, prob no more than half a dozen most of the time, mostly a little smaller, occasionally bigger. No women but it's a relaxed bunch so being the only one's not likely to be a bad experience.

We should have taken a bottle of tomato sauce for realism.

@mtb crazy group can be anything from two to a dozen or so. No girls normally but some of us ride like big girls blouses and we think popstar is secretly gay so you should be all right.

@sandy hill I typed before I read your post. Spot on well done.

Comparing notes with DK though, Frimley is much better than St Peters. He got all the head and neck restraints, X Rays etc. I got "how much does it hurt, don't think you have a brain haemorrhage, goodbye." Next time I know where I'm going.

That was the drop but you were found much further down in a kind of kneeling prayer position.

Think we were left behind. Though the world didn't end. Big volcano gone off though.

Maybe I got enough speed then and went flying off in a spectacular dive. Or maybe I just went straight over and just slid down. Think I'd had a slide on my face for a bit and twisted the head.

Something like the dude in the photo on this page...

Mtb crazy, Deadkenny Cooldad and Buckaroo live near you, hopefully for big trips away could arrange something. Sooner or later will see you around in Swinley, but don't think I could match Cooldad's sense of fashion or style.
