my physio has banned me from MTBs for at least a week. I'll be out on the road for a 35 miler instead this Sunday :(

Sunday 18th I can do though - but early, cos I have to fly to Ireland for a wedding that evening. And must not go home broken! :)

hello! just checking in, seems like things are ticking along nicely for you guys... It was a nice surprise to see your message popstar! I feel special.

Edinburgh is an awesome place to live, I'm totally loving the riding options around here, have been out a few times in the Pentland Hills and have so far managed to ride at Glentress & Mabie of the 7 Stanes and planning to do the "10 under the Ben" (-Nevis) event in May. Scotland is brilliant! So many outdoor activities - have been skiing a couple of hours north of Edinburgh and hoping to soon do a 5 day canoe trip (Fort William to Inverness). Not sure I'll ever be able to return to London, it's too good up here!

I want to Scotland now! And 1st place to visit for me would be Kirroughtree too. Oh so lucky Rosie...

Atz are you up for 15.00start on weekend? Saturday seems the better day. What about DKenny, Fatfreddycat, Agg25, Supra ... will guys from Stanes come? As always need a group decision on a day that suits. Route is another matter ... full route would be around 3hours ride.

p.s. Vimeo account is limited to 500mb per week, can't upload more vidz ....

I'll be out of action for a few weeks while I recover from an over the bars due to a chain snap and get the car organised. Pity, the weather is bloody beautiful at the moment, make the most of it!

    Route plan1.

Use-meet up at Holmbury St Mary (youth hostel) carpark. Gentle ride/climb to BKB short stop at Peaslake, climb Holmbury hill, ride YogPots+Telegraph, gentle climb on narrow trail towards beginning of Telegraph, then turn off to Black graded descend trail going towards Leith hill, ride XC fireroads ... then ... those up for challenge take Lethal climb, while others could use gentler uphill towards Tower. All meet at Tower then ride towards playground trails and Summer Lighting. Back up to Tower, then ride awesome XC road back to Holmbury+ride again YogPots and Telegraph.

    Route plan2.

Meet up at Walking bottom. Climb towards Christmas Pudding, ride it, then Winterfold trails. Climb Pitch hill, ride Proper Beueu, T-trails and Saint branches.Break at Peaslake. Climb Holmbury, ride  YogPots-Telegraph-and finish off with BKB.

Both routes contain average of 20m or 30km, and at least 3hours of riding.

As I have seen from previous threads ... Dkenny uses some nice camera with beutifull photos. I would love to have some nice pics and edit them to vidzzz, +throw HD vidz with edited pics into general* forum thread for a good measure.

Seems Philscott and Gregsd to busy these days, or maybe their pace is way too fast for group. Nevermind, we have some Lethal climbs to train on ... ooohh, I smell some competitive fire in the air. Supraman rubs balsam into his muscle ... for those crazy Mega-avalanche preparations. Now that's some French-Cojones** ! Yeaaaa :)

LOL - I'm here, lurking in the shadows  Not really done much riding the last month or so, but I'm considering coming along this weekend, if I can make it. What day are you guys riding?

Hope people decide Saturday, it's a warmer day too. I really would love to see Gregsd stretch on that lethal climb, and oh yes you must bring your SS and put fattest supertacky tires on!!! Last time me with Supra nearly made that climb, nearly passed out there.

Good for me. Just need to check the bike over as the gears need adjusting yet again. Really could do with getting decent pedals and shoes, but undecided on what to get. Otherwise I'll just be going with the ankle scrapers I've got.

Got a big Camelbak Hawg now that will take my SLR (worked well for skiing), so I'll sling that in too :D

For tomorrow, will let you know once the commute is over and I've seen whether I can walk still (back still not right)

Could I suggest meeting in the carpark at the top of Holmbury Hill rather than the YH? Especially given the time it took SOME people to find it last time ;)

Depends what people say, this time I would write into TomTom Holmbury St Mary, and from there it's easier to find Youth hostel, as it's basically next right turn. It's awesome to finish with telegraph* instead of climb to carpark on top of Holmbury. Hope it was only me who had difficulties with it.

It's always nice to finish with a down rather than grinding out an up, although that side trail we found last time is less crappy than the fireroad.

Sorry, I can't make tomorrow now as we have a problem with our car (the cat converter's gone :x ), so I'll have to try and sort it out.

Will catch you on another ride some time soon.

    Greg.

So YH or the top car park on Holmbury.

Likewise I'd rather not end with a massive climb though :D.

For the YH, it's up Radnor Lane it seems. Street View only goes as far as this but it's sign posted as up the lane

    ... Route plan (Saturday 17.04 10.00am)

Use-meet up at Holmbury St Mary (youth hostel) carpark. Gentle ride/climb on narrow path running alongside TR* to Reservoir dogs+BKB* ... short stop at Peaslake (stock up on sarnies etc), climb Holmbury hill, ride YogPots then turn off to Black graded descend trail going towards Leith hill, ride/climb XC fireroads ... then ... those up for challenge take Lethal climb, while others could use gentler uphill towards Tower. Social mini-lunch at Tower, then ride towards playground trails and Summer Lighting (ride 2versions). Climb back to Tower, then ride awesome at massive speed :) XC road back to Holmbury+ride again YogPots and Telegraph.

    Route distance 20miles+, ... 3-5hours of riding+break.

Any suggestions on extra bits at Leith hill would be welcome.
