Astana: le merde hits the fan
Le Monde have just declared that French officials seized infusion equipment from Astana during the Tour de France last July. This kit is illegal in France and is contrary to WADA guidelines.
If true, Contador, Armstrong and the others on the team, from riders to staff, will have some explaining to do. More news in due course...
EDIT: this isn't new, it's a follow on from http://www.lemonde.fr/sport/article/200 ... _3242.html

Just watch the UCI try and keep the team name, rather than the culprits at the front of this.
Just wait for the French conspiracy theorists to start their deflecting campaign.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lance and The Hog get out from under and leave Berto carrying Pat's leaky can."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

то же самое дерьмо, различный день
However, Vino is a Kazakh so it would be different :-)
LOL, good ol' internet - ask and ye shall receive.
I thought Russian was his first language though? Or is there like a Kazakh dialect of Russian that Kazakhs speak?0 -

A pity that The Shack have opted not to attend the Giro, as this investigation will probably see their Tour invitation, ripped up.
I don't think the Vuelta will offer much in the way of consolation."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

I think you're underestimating the sport's (ie the UCI's) ability to sweep inconvenient things under the carpet. Bruyneel and LA have dodged every other bullet fired at them over goodness knows how long, why is this any different?0 -
yep, they'll probably rip up the Astana invitation not the Shack one"Impressive break"

Do you think LAs lawyers have not been through the rulebook? You can bet they'll produce a wording, a legal interpretation to defend. These kits are multi purpose from what i read...TDF medics will likely have this stuff too? Anyway, no LA at 2010 TDF is till fine...but no AC would be sad...he's caught in the crossfire, such a shame...0

Legend
Not sorry to see the cheaters get caught - if the story is confirmed. Just wish they would all get caught to keep it fair. Agree with others that it would be a bit hairy if Astana gets punished but not the Shack, since its Astana 2.0The British Empire never died, it just moved to the Velodrome0 -

This is the police who have seized the equipment.
The UCI tends to act tough when the law gets involved.0 -
Why are THE FRENCH such ANTI-AMERICAN RACISTS?
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
No, Astana 1.0 was Vino et al, the Kazakh cycling team from 2006 & 2007
Astana 2.0 was the 2008 name for the Discovery/US Postal/Tailwind team of LA & JB
Astana 3.0 is what's left after the Shack hit the fan...0 -

The newspaper also claims that DNA testing on the seized Astana team material revealed the presence of seven unique DNA fingerprints, but linking the evidence to individual riders would rely upon the UCI sharing its blood profile data with the French authorities.

there are 30 people in the team probs and contamination....there's very little chance of proving stuff...and the idea of AC and LA doping together? Being in the same jersey meant nothing to them, no way would they trust each other with their careers like that0 -
Here's the team btw. You know, just to refresh our memories:

* 22 Lance Armstrong (USA)

That'll be everyone but the top two's DNA then. Naturally.Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.0 -

So, we have 7 out of 8, with Levi being out of the race?

23 KLÖDEN Andréas
24 LEIPHEIMER Levi
25 MURAVYEV Dmitriy

Well, given LA's dislike for Contador, may be he was denied access to the hot sauce.
Poor old Flandis experienced that, if I read Walsh correctly. LA and the Hog are hard men.0 -

Could be everyone but Levi and Armstrong.
They did both underperform...Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.0 -
Most likely all of them, but they only have good DNA evidence for 7 of them so far. The only surprising thing about this will be if they actually manage to make anything stick.0
