That bar tape is an abomination. What are you doing to that poor bike?

Only kidding, I really love the bar tape. Honest.

thanks to all for the honesty, i didnt need a wedge mount eventually i choose one tht did fit ( with much searching!) dmclite it is actually right next to the stem so it goes ok ,doesnt look too outta place.

hey Gabriel959, thanks for your comments also i used to ride amateur on specialized for my county then after a serious knee op i looked at trails and mtb something i had never considered before. but after about 7 years of it i missed my old passion of speed and road riding.

Ps Guys: I did say i had the tape in black and red splash also ,cause i wasnt sure it would work either the black and red would be ok as they are the main two colours in the scheme.

Jordan, i used to have a pimped scott CR1 Team, what did you have in mind?

I will fix the black and red and see if it looks any better, will post pic later on

Thanks, my CR1 has been pimped enough - well some new blue Ritchey bar tape and a Spesh Alias saddle (in white). That's enough for me. If I'm out riding and people can see every detail on my bike then I ain't riding fast enough! :(

My next purchases will be for 'performance' gains rather than aesthetic ones. You fancy giving me some money from your insurance pay out?

Well that's looking just great now, whatever you do don't go out and ride it - you might spoil the looks

This is the latest picture of my ride , i hope you can appreciate why i wanted the red bottle cages now? the tape was handpicked so i hope you all aprove as i do,

( p.s. i do also have the splash tape in only black and red, but i thought seeing as there is a fair amount of white in the colour scheme it would be nice to try this one too!)

    What you think?

BUt on retrospect i prefere this one blends in more, even YOU would prob agree on that?? loll

Hey bompington I did that already mate ;-( So i buggered it now aitn i lol?
JOrdan if i had much left i would mate lol ;-) but i havent ....

Anyway here it is cosmetically finished, and like you Jordan my next bits will be for lightness and performance also.
Now i like the result i love riding it even more ( which i do on a daily basis)

Either black or white would look miles better. I have a pathological hatred of splash effect bar tape and no bike that has it on will ever be awarded an OCP badge by me!

My Spesh Transition has a white Toupe saddle, white bar tape and wait for it...
White AC 420 wheels. IMO - it looks good. Although I look like a fat ipod when I'm on it :)

we'll definitely recognise you whizzing past...or does the bike stay in a museum? ha ha

i have the Roubaix comp - lots mainly black with dashes of red and white...my friend (Trek-blue/white) said 'nice bike'...but his eyes said 'ponsey colours'.....but i love it...it gets noticed - much like yours

enjoy - and keep us posted....although it'll put NapD off his dinner

I did look at the roubaix but something about the shape and lines of the frame made me comapre it to an old fashioned bike kinda like the old beach combers might be just me but i think it is cause of the harsher curve on the top tub. Dont get me wrong they do look very nice and looking at Gkerr4's red one they can be very appealing, i just preferred the frame look of the tarmac, each to their own i supposse?

gkerr4 What makes you say tht i should have white saddle and white tape on my Tarmac Elite i see on yours it looks good but thts is because its mostly red mine is Carbon Black with red/white in it mate ?
    G.H.Allum
  • I would go for a white saddle, but black bar tape, as below...

    3861741375_a02f2a3a67_o.jpg

    3861741541_074def0b91_o.jpg

And I would change the red chainring bolts, skewers and bottle cages, black ones would look soooo much better IMO.

(And I will try and take some better photos Mr. NapD, the reflections off the wheel stickers do look a bit silly, no way I can achieve OCP membership with these photos...)

I had black bar tape to begin with look at my first pics, but i like change and the colours all match so it looks ok!
I can see the appeal of a white saddle evans do the toupe in white with red trim maybe i will give tht a try? and i may change the cages for a pair of look carbon ones but the chainbolts and jockey wheels stay it is a trademark of mine and i get them free from my supplier as i am advertising them.

How much yours set you back? looks very nice, and are those mavic kysrium wheels on the top pic?

  • Lovely bike, Speed_King.

I'm using it as a desktop background until mine is ready to be picked up. ;)
