I'm not saying anyone could beat him tomorrow, but he still has to get round.

Being realistic i dont think Andy will believe he can pull over 4 minutes out of Contador on this climb, so yea, i think he is just going to continue doing the brotherly thing and try and help Frank.

Yes agreed, Andy and Alberto could have stayed away - they allowed the Frank/Lance/Wiggo group to come back.

No but it doesn't surprise me - I thought he was going to fall across the line. What a ride

wind and tactical neutralization... if frank had had the legs to jump across?

watching armstrong chase rather than be towed would have been fun

I think he missed the split in peloton before the climb. The overhead shot showed quite a few Cervelo jerseys towards the front of that group. Guess he decided it wasnt worth going all out to finish 20th.

yeah, pity frank couldn't have gone with andy on one of his early attacks.

that would have made it really interesting

    Excellent!

Lance & Alberto were awesome. No one could touch them! They marked every move perfectly.

1st and 3rd on the Podium - absolutely amazing.

    Well done guys! You rock!!!!!

All 156 finished. Cav finished with Hushovd 7 seconds ahead of the autobus. Maybe a sprint finish - those two just cant stay away from a tussle for the line  Hutarovich finished in the autobus too and as long as he finishes tomorrow will be the final lanterne rouge

I can't decide which Grand Tour this year has been more rubbish. I'm having to pin my hopes on the Vuelta and that's a frightening prospect.

bertie has been awesone all week and I think a few anti Lance fanboys are spewing just now, i expected him to top ten maybe but not a podium place. Fair play to the auld git credit where credit is due a brilliant perfomance. To think certain posters were laughing at him a day or two ago

    Agreed MG.

nothing to laugh at now though - he's on the Podium for goodness sake!

    and I believe he's been tested 11 times this tour so far . . . .

And hats off to everyone that made it up the climb after 3 weeks riding!

Looking at the GC this morning i think that was always on the cards, Brad was never gonna risk losing 4th to get 3rd and same with Lance with 2nd and Frank was just too far behind to influence things.

had lance made his comeback last year I think he could have won the 2008 tour but bertie and andy were simply too good this year.

credit to him though, 3rd place is mighty impressive.

he should never have retired in 05, would definitely taken the 06 tour ahead of Landis and Perriero

I'd say that makes Lance a firm favourite for next year. No doubt!!!! Something to look forward to.....eh Iain?

Armstrong said he'd kick their asses, he didn't
Armstrong allowed Nike to print 8 tour tshirts, he didn't win it

he's done well but not done what his big mouth said he would and has been back pedalling the PR machine since Monaco

Looking at it objectively and that can be difficult for a lot of anti lance fanboys Irrespective of the shite he spouts to finish 3rd is very impressive
