I think most people would say his ride was below expectations, well can no doubt get His verdict via Twitter soon. That third spot looks vulnerable, Wiggins and Franck Schleck will think about it.

Also Contador finished 4th in the Olympics TT and was second in the first TT of the Tour. It is not like there was a massive difference between them.

Don't bring logic into this argument gabriel!

    FFS.

Andy nearly bet Lance too. Everyone must be on the juice then.

Er, no. No one is. Of course not. It's the cleanest tour ever. Fact.

And those Schlecks... they'd never be juicing. Never. Just ask their dad.

Wiggins and Franck Schleck will think about it.

They'd be silly not to. I think Wiggins has been shown to not quite be at the same level as the others though when it gets to the really serious mountain days. He will do well to not get dropped by Lance tomorrow; even more so than by Franck!

I think Frank is the fav for third. Who knows; if LA can't match the attacks and Klodi has a good day, he might even get third.

No suprises for me with that ride much in line with his season really.

This could lead to some intriguing tactics on Ventoux - Lance will have to follow Frank, Wiggo can follow both, or Lance will bluff and see if Wiggo's going to follow. Throw Klodi into the mix and Astana should have the whip hand on this one.

In my experience of reading the French press, they are quite anti-Lance -- for good reasons! They just didn't buy the whole story, is all. And good for them. So I don't think Phil is talking balls.
No, he was making the point that the people of France love Lance but the French press lie and print stories suggesting they hate him. This is crap, as Lance is the only one who's suggested he's at risk in France.
In reality 'The French' seem to admire Armstrong and the French Press maintain the sort of healthy, critical stance that is becoming unknown in the media of the English-speaking world. Meanwhile, the anti-French xenophobes, and the large section of the media in the English speaking world that seems to be besotted with Armstrong, take the admirable stance of the French media as being evidence that 'The French' all 'hate' Armstrong. Perhaps they haven’t read all the exposes of doping amongst French riders and others that the French press have done in the past.

I also have a feeling that many of the anti-French feelings that circulate stem from the particularly American attitude of ‘If you aren’t with us, (in the style of the likes of Sherwin and Ligget) then you are against us’. (And the way investigative journalism is often dismissed as 'muckraking' in the US).

He hasn't had any for the last 10 years, so it's unlikely he'll grow any by Saturday.

Aha, so to enjoy watching sports you have to suspend any cynicism about the athletes?

What on earth have I been doing all these years?

Looks like first & second in Paris are settled, there's going to be a hell of a battle for 3rd!
I'm putting my cash on Armstrong, I think he'll have the edge over the other 3 on Ventoux.
Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.

Just as the Giro was the cleanest ever, eh?

The truth is none of us know. Sadly several riders have big question marks next to them, Frank Schleck claims to have paid Fuentes for "training plans" and we've seen what sort of programmesFuentes has produced for other riders. The same goes for Armstrong, Contador and Kloeden, all have suspicious links for past behaviour. We can speculate for hours, that's what forums are for, but it's hard to go beyond that. I would like these guys to be more open to talk about their past though but that ain't gonna happen.

BTW - tomorrow's stage could still see some changes to GC. The cat 2 climb towards the end could be the perfect launch pad for an attack. Riders in pos 3 - 6 will need to be having a good day.

I think Brad heard the announcer say he was in 1st as he crossed the line (not 6th) and he "felt" good on the decent and couldn't understand the time loss. However, ITV have checked the tape and agree with the time and think the result will stand...

Lance looks like he'll make the podium. I'm laughing at you.

Why not laugh at Sastra, Evans and Menchov? Last year winner is s bit if a joke no?

Lance would be riding for second if he wasn't screwed by his teammate needlessly.

That was his problem - you should never "feel good" at the end of long TT. You should leave it all out on the road. :) No wonder he lost time. He was taking it too easy!
