  • what do you mean with "sensible hills"? where I ride, usually have 300-400 meters up, in 10 kilometers, (5 miles) before starting the way down.
    Thanks,
300-400 metres in 10K is child's play. There are several roads here that climb approximately 200 metres in around a kilometer.

Anyway, what I mean by sensible hills, was a hill that is realistically climable. Some hills or mountains are so steep or slippery or boulder strewn that no amount of adjustable fork would ever get you up it, and I have to carry the bike instead.

Thank a lot, now it is completely clear!
maybe it is me and not the enduro geometry, but I usually shrink the e-150 to avoid dicomfort in my back.
Then your float could be a nice substitute for my e-150, not as expensive as talas, and not so heavy as vanillas.
All information is well received to not throw more euros to waste!

Sorry for my english, I am not from UK.

I wonder if van 36 it's a handycap for climbing, I usually shrink E-150 to 100 mmm, but I am pretty sure that that fork must be incredible to have fun going down.

What about the wheight? Do you feel more heavy the front wheel?

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi there

Quick question before I start - why have you usernamed yourself after my bike!

I used the 36 Vans for the first time last Saturday. As I've already posted, they were awesome - easily worth the weight penalty many times over.
The difference was really noticed over the whole ride ie. uphill, downhill and everything in between. As for uphill, I didn't feel the extra weight at all! I can honestly say that the only difference I felt over the 32 floats was the stiffness that allowed you to ride over everything without being thrown offline. This helps quite a lot as a certain amount of momentum can be lost this way when climbing.
Admittingly, I didn't have the most challenging of climbs and my weight distribution probably changed slightly, albeit subconciously, because of the extra travel.
If I had to give advice judged on this first ride, I would strongly recommend the Vans over the floats for the Enduro.

    Hope that helps

p.s. When are you going to start riding the carbon one. Who the hell invented spray on dirt ??????

I did laugh a lot at that one myself oldun.
Got to admit, even with those forks, finding it hard to keep up with the two O5s on the down runs.
Is it a Bird? Is it a plane? No it's black O5. He got more air than BA!

    Cheers

    Sunline have recalled them.....

    Paul.
  • Oh dear

Makes me not feel so bad for only having the 25.4mm version now.

With all the jumping and stuff you do, it's a good job nothings happened yet.

    Thanks for the info Paul.

I've phoned the shop where I bought them and I'm exchanging them for some carbon Easton Monkeylites DH tomorrow. :D

I don't do a lot of jumping tbh - as I'm pretty crap at it. But yes, with the rides I've been on, the thought of the bars snapping makes me shudder!

I will miss the gorgeous look of the bars, but if I get the Easton DH Monkeylites in place of them I will have a better functioning bar in terms of strength not to mention the better position it will give me on the bike for the type of riding I enjoy most. :D

    Paul_sp thanks to you I am now the proud owner of these;

OK I had to stump up a little more cash, but hey, these are the best bars in the whole world.:D

Fitting them later this evening - I hope my cables are long enough for the extra width!

And NO I'm not cutting them shorter (new cables before that happens).

I still don;t understand it. Here it is again...
black 5 worries the hell out of me z20. when big j starts to ride like that you'll know what I mean. again your spesh is the muts

Apart from "your spesh is the muts", none of that makes any sense at all to me, or probably most of the people here. You're talking gibberish.

 To be fair I started the black O5 - a guy I ride with who doesn't come on here - hence no username - so is known by his beloved Black Orange 5. When I mentioned him earlier in the thread I hinted that he was getting big air - hence the 'worries the hell out of me' and 'when big j starts to ride like that'

big j = some numbty with a shite bike thats not worth mentioning.

Z20 doesn't really need explaining - does it?

Hope that makes things a little easier to understand ! :?

EDIT:- I would imagine that it's not hard to work out, by reading the thread, that oldun and z20 ride together?

Look, you arrogant arse. I made a light hearted comment about a nonsensical (to anyone outside you clique) post. You're the one blowing this thing out of proportion.
