That front mudguard is highly flawed and waste of money ...

Must admit Colin I'm not that keen on the guards - there's enough debate about them elsewhere on this site - and they're the first thing to come off when we get to Spring - but I am an all year round rider and it's particularly muddy round these parts - and being "specced up" I was finding them Panaracers were just slinging mud in me face to the point of not being able to see after just a few hundred yards - so they're sort of essential for me rather than there for the aesthetics....I was catching the mud up as it was flying upward and forward off the front wheel. So I dont think it.s flawed just a bit unsightly.
Shame the Sram cables route down the front of the frame rather than under the crossbar - I'd prefer an anonymous crud guard but couldn't fit it...even then I guess I'd have the same prob with the Panaracers throwing mud upwards....think they gotta go.
  • I hope my Boardman doesn't see this thread, it'll feel so neglected. I have treated it to a set of winter tyres but that's not exactly pimptastic...

Surely getting mud in your face is a sign that the tyres aren't clogging? ;)

Very true - but the specs were getting wrecked and at £300 a pair (the specs not the tyres...)I'd have preferred a bit more clog...at least a quarter of a revolutions worth.....!

    Old age is not cheap...!

The point is you're out riding it and enjoying it mate, thats what counts :)

Mine does look quite clean, but only after an hour or so of cleaning

Will get some pics up this weekend with the new white bling fitted. Have a cleaning session to do first, I was out last night and it got rather dirty :o

Any of you people ever tried the "Evans Ride It! " series rides?

Best non competitive series there is on great trails that you would never find yourself - I do most of the ones round London - check out Evans website if you're interested.
Might be quite amusing if a bunch of Boardman Pros go out together and make for some good photoshoots...!

I'm probably doing the Sandown one on 13th - but the summer ones are obviously a bit more agreeable...!

Anyone interested mark it on this thread.

Well been out to give her a bit of a clean this morning so took the opportunity to get some pics of the new bits and the bike as a whole...

Its taken about £800 on top of the standard bike to get it this far.

Tempted to sell it and move on now before I spend even more on it

  • Gotta hand it to you, it looks really nice now with all the changes :D

Those FSA cranks look the biz don't they 8)

What size NNs are you running, and how do you find them for normal use and wear etc?

    Thanks for the comments :)

The NN's are 2.25. I read good comments on them, combine that with the white rim around them and I just couldn't resist

They're actually a very good all round tyre I think. Wear is good (i.e lack of) the only thing I found the other night is that they're not really any good for very muddy slushy forest riding. I was tending to slip and slide a bit but it was still controllable. To be honest, I think a fair few tyres would have struggled with the conditions though....

I've only been on one decent ride with it so far....I'll be honest, its not the most comfy of saddles  but its bearable....(whether I'll be saying that in a few weeks we'll have to see).

Thats the Biomax one, the V2 looks a bit more comfortable, but only so much you can tell from pictures.

I bought the bolts in one of my LBS's. I think CRC do them, but not in the same blue as I wanted. Happy to go see if they have any left if you want some, just let me know.
