I'm going to go down the blue route and see where it takes me...

Come on Si78 and Stoo61, you can join in

Im in...not immediately but I will take up your challenge. I will however say this...people with Pro's have it easier because white is cool and white components are abundant. I however will be going down the shiney carbon route so in addition it will be lighter! SO THERE!!!

My ideas are all mapped out though. Bring it on!

Do we think there is enough white on the bike already without this for example?

There is never enough white on a white bike :D

Quite easy to get muddy though and scratches easily show up. Personally I think that white is a sht colour for a bike WHYTEPEAK

Whats the frame like on these? Does it seem pretty strong? Looking at the comp and wondering how much abuse it'll take.

See thats where I fall down, I don't really know what route to take yet  I'm liking WCS carbon stem, bars and seat post with some other blue bits thrown in for good measure.

On a side note, does anyone know what crank I could replace my existing one with, can it be XT etc ? Not really up to date with all this stuff again yet

Edit: Sorry thebluefox.....the frame doesnt seem bad at all so far...to be fair, I havent given it a huge amount of abuse yet, but taken it on some pretty rough XC, woodlands etc and more than coped with that :)

Mmmm much preferred it with black tyres. And why is that stem still so high? :D Watch out for the warranty (recommended 2cm stack mostly)

Replacing the crank already? I'm not going to change any major bits before they wear out.

Also, the carbon WCS bits...stem is a ridiculous price, its almost £100 more than say an alloy wet black one and if you check the weight of them both they are very similar. So...yeah thats my plan.

Might change the rotors, fairly cheap but even an ounce in loss of performance then its not worth it. Hmmm....giving away my secrets

Thats one of the first things on my list, increased rotor size (not for bling-ness, purely stopping power, lol).

Sure I found a stem/bar package for quite a good price, will post link when I find the ruddy thing again...

    They're AYUP lights.

Hiya, sorry for the delay in replying...

As Eranu says, they're AY-UP lights. I've got the narrow and wide sets (one for handle bars and one for helmet) although I haven't mounted the helmet one yet.

Theres a couple more blue editions to the bike which I havent taken pics of yet, and also have 185mm rotors for the front and rear on order :D

Try not to take this personally but as a new Boardman Pro HT owner I think the blue is bloody awful, it reminds me of something from the 80's I think you've ruined it.

I'm afraid that I can't understand the need to 'bling' the bike, it's there to be used not oggled, after a week mine is filthy with 50 off road miles under its belt. Some components need to be changed I agree, the standard tyres are poor, the stem is too long, SPDs or similar are a must and in my case a Thudbuster LT has provided a 'magic carpet' ride. All changes to improve my use of the bike and increase its ability for me.

Just finished a mucky local 12 miler and the bikes on the car for an 8am expedition tomorrow morning, the last thing on my mind is 'bling', its just using the damn thing.

Err, sort of agree with seataltea, looks kinda gay with the blue going on, a bikes for riding not blinging, like a woman if you will!

Can't stand the d*cks that look at your frame the moment you pass them, bike snob pus*ies!

Just my opinion though, no one else's. No offence intended.

    No offence taken :D

I posted to get opinions whether they're good or bad and have had both about the blue so all is good, each to their own :)

I think "bike blinging" is the same again, some like it, others don't. I ride about 100 miles a week, sometimes more and its come back absolutely sh*t high on the majority of the rides so the bling soon gets hidden, lol....probably just money burning a whole in my pocket

    Thanks for your comments :)

  • Good Man!,

The Boardmans are great bikes though, i've just bought a Team FS. Nice to hear you are getting it shi*ted up, I spent the first week riding around puddles because I didn't want to get it dirty!

I have since realised this is not in the spirit of mountain biking & proceeded to get it as shited up as possible!!!

Nothing wrong with aesthetically pleasing things, specially if they are lighter and better quality.

Go forth and BLING....you can get "bling" things manky too you know.

Oh and with the woman analogy, I dont care if she rides like a porn star, if it looks and sounds like a pig, im not taking it out with me.

Just got my boardman pro yesterday, all set up halfords where brilliant they even trimmed the steerer an swapped the front mech for a low rise x9. Anways after a two hour test ride, l have been off the bike for 6 months due to injury, the ride back was getting pretty sore on the sit bones.
Post ride food an shower later i am now the proud owner of an new pair of bollocks swinging between my legs one large swollen lump on each sitbone an a bag of frozen peas to ease the swelling,
Thing is it wasn't even a heavy ride with loads o f breaks jus a gentle one to get a feel for the bike.
that saddle is jus nasty man, real nasty gotta get me another specialised bg alias saddle cos i've never had a problem like this before even after being on the bike all day the bg really works.

anyways its one sweet ride that pro i jus hope i've got no permanent damage from that boardman saddle.

  • Really liking the Boardman's on this tread, well done all. Can't beat a bit of bling. Although I haven't done much with my winter ride, an '07 Pro.
