Is Wiggins still the fastest? He is according to the website.

How has Wiggins become so much better than Millar who I always believed to be a top class time trial rider?

    Garzelli beats Wiggins' first time.

I'd say this course perfectly suits his all-day mountain breakaway style of racing. :)

They must be very slow at updating the Gazzetta website then. It only just put Garzelli on top.

LOL, got to love the Italian commentators or Belgian ones for that matter.

EBH gets second and looks very stylish in his magenta.

Garzelli 37km/h vs 34km/h for the majority of the others at the 2nd check I think...

Current leader Danilo Di Luca sees himself doing quite well today. "It will be myself, Rogers and Menchov within a few seconds," he said. "If I lose 40 seconds to [Denis] Menchov, that would be great. I will use the normal [road] bike and time trial bar extensions.

    A bit confident...

Did Navarro (Astana) withdraw before the start?

No he is riding - Garzelli passed him and De Greef and Serpa.

    From weightweenies :D

I can't believe riders are using conventional helmets and "standard" road frames. At least the Cervelo and Garmin guys have decently aerodynamic frames.
Correction: Sastre is on a P3, it seems. Expect a solid result from him: top 10.
Addition: Di Luca in a conventional helmet with loose strap. And no aero bars! He loses pink today.
Comment:Pelizotti's hair is too long. He drops back in GC.
Astana: All in conventional helmets. Leipheimer's chances squandered today. Armstrong fails to make up time in the second half, finishing no better than Sastre.
High Road: Aero helmets, aero water bottles: Michael Rogers is the man of the stage. Pink jersey for him.

Menchov up 1.40 on Rogers. GC shake up indeed.

Unbelieveable that they haven't shown Sastre yet. Come on.
