As long as she's willing to shave her feet (hey maybe even if she's not, it is Elle McPherson after all) that would be fine with me

It's a bit like preaching about the aesthetics of a race bike on a commuting forum, isn't it.

You mean you didn't find this funny?

    Nope, it was 'too ironic'...

Ironic or just too close to home?

I actually was extremely p*ssed off at this thread. I don't find it big or clever to slag off a guys bike on the internet. If you found it so offensive, maybe you should have said something to him. No? Thought not.

As I said his bike has nothing to do with you, some people prefer different things to you, society's like that. I don't like stone cladding or gas effect fires, my choice. What I don't do is point fingers and snigger over the ether, I find that cowardly and rude.

FWIW whilst watching the bike racing at Crystal Palace the other night there was a guy in the 3/4 race on flats and trainers, doing pretty well, having a go amongst Serottas, cervelos, BMC's etc. At the end all the riders congratulated each other and no-one sniggered or slagged him off. He was part of the community and respected as such.

I hope the Wilier guy didn't read your thread because if it was me I'd be extremely angry.

Mate, I think you need to get some perspective. There's a stack of bad things going on in the world, if you would get "extremely angry" because someone took the piss out of your choice of pedals, then you lack a sense of proportion.

I think you're taking what is supposed to be a light hearted thread just a little too seriously!

If you want to ride with flat pedals (given the speed restrictions flats haveover clipless) buy a cheaper bike like a Wilier Evasion or La Triestina....

I'll buy whatever bike I want and put whichever pedals I want on it! What the hell has it got to do with you which components other people choose to put on their own bikes.

It might be like putting a roof box on a Ferrari Enzo, but if it's not yours then shut your mouth!!!

I think that people need to get used to the (very) dry humour in here... :) It's taken me a while to get used to people laying the irony on VERY thickly when posting.

Very stiff, Veery quick. I won them in an online comp, still feel a little self conscious when our riding them, everyone wants a piece of you.

Were you cycling through Covent Garden/ Endell st at around 6.30 last night?

    JAYSUS!!!!!!

    People chill it's Friday!!!

I think you two are taking what I've said far too seriously...

Yes on a deep and meaningful level there could be any number of justifiable reasons as to why he had flats on a Wilier (shudder). And at the end of the day it is his bike. On a superficial - I wish it was a woman so I could do wicked things to it hourly - level, why on Earth would you willingly put flats on something so astoundingly sexy...

I mean honestly, if you can't have a harmless laugh and joke - yeah people laugh at me all the time, Hell Jash laughs everytime he thinks back to me at Marlborough struggling up them hills - then what is the point of it all. I just take it with a pinch of salt and ride my bike because that's what its all about.

As I've displayed many many times, if the guy came on here or came to the Morpeth, or had he not RLJ'ed I'd take the time to ask him, offer advice when I can/where I can and encourage him to cycle because whatever you ride with whatever equipment you can afford its about enjoying cycling. - Doesn't mean we can't have some harmless fun and a laugh and a joke from time to time.
