Just a thought, but this is Wales, we're almost guaranteed at least one day of rain, if it's too bad I for one will MTFD. I'm thinking of taking walking gear with me in order to do "other stuff"

WHAT! This isn't a ramblers retreat Rob. If it rains we go to the pub.

    Walking gear, honestly.

Look, I'm not about to start the ramblers association here, but I'd like to think of it as an option, I don't really want to fritter away a whole day sat in a pub.

well indeed the area is littered with warm pubs if one needs warming, and frankly weather is weather.

Now a wet weather pub crawl on the bikes is perhaps more like it, a nice compromise too.

Riding in rain's fine. Raceblade TFU :) With regard to the aesthetics of mudguards, I accept they may ruin a bike's lines (depending on the bike) but that's better than a load of crud all over your back....

wrong bit of wales, around that area you'll find minors but no miners, mind you since the pits a long gone you won't find any in the valleys either.

Not forgetting riding around on bikes that fold in the middle, one of which has silly little wheels (even if they are lighter and stiffer, oh yes...), putting mudguards on these bikes and a road bike, using SPDs on a road bike, taking said bikes on gravel paths, and puttting Shimano and SRAM components on an Italian bike (haven't done that yet but I'm not ruling out ;) ).

Best get yourself down to Epic & Velocity IP, they both keep sticking Shimano groupsets on Viners ;)
And what about this horrible, horrible thing? :)http://glorycycles.blogspot.com/2009/05 ... on-v2.html
Haven't ridden the thing yet, might actually like Campag shifting etc, sure it'll be up to the job, sounds easy enough…On the other hand, if I don't get on with it, or see a good deal on Red/DA/Di2......
