The ultimate Lance doping thread

Ladies and gentlemen, as I'm sure you are all aware, a fair few threads on these pages have degenerated into Lance doped/no he didn't arguments, followed by name-calling and insults. The same things are said time and time again, ruining what could be an otherwise interesting discussion on other races and riders.

Well, why don't we all avoid this situation by having one thread, in which anyone who feels the need to air an opinion on this subject can express themselves, instead of discussing it on threads about TDU, Pantani, California, etc, etc.

We could even have some ground rules, namely no insulting other people because they hold a different opinion to you, no twisting other people's words, no libel, no arguing the person rather than the point. If you feel that you've made a strong argument elsewhere, please feel free to do a cut and paste, minus any abuse that you've directed to other posters on the thread.

Instead, just a rational, objective discussion about the evidence that exists for and against (notice I said evidence, not proof). I'm sure that you are all capable of that - and please, let's not start it by somebody saying "well, I'd do it, but the Lance fan boys/haters are incapable of objectivity."

You don't have to try to change other people's minds, just keep yours open.

Right, now I've said my bit I'm going out to do a bit of sun-worshipping on my bike. Bye-bye everybody.

    The poll is fantastic!

As for the thread idea, marvellous, though I wonder if your utopian view is achievable (though your poll is more in keeping with a totalitarian regime  ) . I hope forum members are up to the challenge.

You're right. For whatever reason I have decided that this guy / girl has got to be a loser of gigantic proportions and I do mean gigantic. If I met him i would have to ask "Is this it, is
this all you can come up with in life, this is the best you can do with yourself. and so on and so forth?". He did make me laugh though. What a bozo.

Here's a stupid / strange question. Yellow and black, horns, apparently a "devil"
costume of sorts, what am I missing here??? If anything?? What's the significance
of it all?? If anything??? Or is it just idiotic and that's all there is to it??? I need to know the "deeper" meaning.:wink:

I would surmise, Dennis, that it is due to Lance's "Livestrong" klt comprising of said colours.

I thought that the USA had "Freedom of Speech" and he was intitled to make the gesture. (we have lost that right in the UK)
Me, I would shake his hand for all the trouble he went to, to be up there in the cold with all his equipment.

Mr Finch Ref - Liestrong or Stronglies.
This thread you started about the Virus in this sport and the main protagonist will be of little use to me as I avoid the Hypocrite as much as possible and I can safely say that I am a Bigot on the subject.
I waited long enough for RIis to be nailed, after his Litigation to say he was innocent. (I wonder if he had to pay Libel money back)
I can only wait and hope that somebody will break "Omerta" (and his lawyers) and explain how his TUE has benifitted his "Pass Card" to the Testing Proceedure.

Maybe the simple truth is in front of me and all I need to do is have cancer treatment and Kimo to become an Ace Time Trialist and Mountain Climber. (he couldn't do either before Kimo)
Oh Horror that I should say this but that is the other alternative if he is "Clean" and it would be nice of him to say so.
No, No we all know it's something else and he rather proves it by attacking a bystander.
Hate him, No he's just a Joke. (But like most good comedians he's a Rich one)
That's me Lot, so carry on.

Fair enough. I started it to prevent other threads turning into a Lance doping argument. I'm sure you'll hope that it works!

Sorry, you just haven't convinced me. I'm going to have to stick with "loser, fat sack of......". First impressions ....., as they say.:wink:
And yes, we do have freedom of speech and yes, he is entitled. I don't have a problem with him doing that. Gave me a chuckle. Looks like it gave a few riders a chuckle too.

  • It's amazing in that thread, the one cyclist who pushes him and takes offence is?? It appears to be Lance Armstrong. I usually just read these threads and I don't know much about Lance. The guy in yellow was not seeming to single out Armstrong.

Another thing I heard is, how could he make that Olson girl pregnant? I guess the operation did not make him impotent.

Yet, his ex-wife had to go through artificial insemmination I heard. I don't like to knock anyone but I heard that was a difficult procedure for the woman.

Many people suffer from obesity and can not control it. There are some who believe causes are hereditary in some cases. Likewise, if you've ever known anyone with diabetes you would know it is a trial and tribulation as well.

"However, families also share diet and lifestyle habits that may contribute to obesity. Separating genetic from other influences on obesity is often difficult. Even so, science does show a link between obesity and heredity."
