Im from Market Weighton but used to live in South Cave, iv only just got back into mtb after a good 6/7/8 year dark patch.
Iv nearly finished building my new bike and was wondering if anyone new of any rides around Market Weighton way that i could have a blast around on a week night without having to drive any where??

20mile, starting in Danby near Whitby. Done this ride back in November on a misty/damp day. Would be a great summer ride. some great descents and single track. Apart from on our ride we went on the top of Glaisdale Moor then onto the Rigg instead of road/track below.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Whitby...? That's bloody miles away...
Well, I went to Minor Injuries Clinic yesterday because I noticed I had a lump in the groin area, 6 days after my little bail out. They then sent me to A&E. Found out that I have burst a couple of blood vessels which has clotted, which in turn is causing the lump.
So no real worry apart from I am not allowed to do anything strenuous in the next two weeks. No biking for me then...0 -

Yeah like my bro said, it is in the Rosedale area. The bit we did was on the Moors in between Church Houses and Chop Gate.0 -

hah, but I still come off with 160mm at the front, and 170mm at the back Damm single track goodness on the moors! My front forks are now very sweet after they have been run in.
Note for next time your/we are riding around Chruch houses, found this http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=47 ... &A=Y&Z=120 on Singletrack mag forum. Apparently one of the best bits in the moors...
(edit, ignore that its no where near Chruch Houses... lol ) Have I had coffee yet this morning???Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

It was probably the first ride me and bro did then. Think we got it out of mbr.0 -
oh, also theres a new trail centre opened at Gisburn forest near Skipton, North Yorkshire. It looks pretty good from what I've seen photos of. Could combine it with a Dales Ride?

Do you think you will need some sort of pass to explore the demonstration tents? Will be driving there for a spot of walking. Wasn't actually planning on test riding the demo bikes just to have a look around, see what they had to offer.0 -
I'm meeting Rory at 2 at Humber park if any of you want to join us, I'll be out on sunday as well.0

I can be there at 2pm today if that's ok with you guys? How far you planning on going? I'm a bit heavy and not very conditioned though, so I don't want to be holding you up. Let me know and I'll have a ride up.0 -
Don't worry about it, I'm not the best of riders either, plus I just suffered a fall on my bike in humber park the other day, so today I'm just seeing how I go. I believe we are just heading up to brantingham area today.0

I think you'll still have to pay the £7 for the toll, but you can just walk around and look at the bikes. I know people was doing that the last time I went for a demo day.Yorkshire Man living in Somerset

Great cycle today guys, I'm sure i will be feeling the aches in my legs by tomorrow, still great to get the fitness up lets hope Gaz can meet up again in the future. Barkey did you say you have a spare rear wheel you may be able to lend me for next time? I know for a fact I wont be able to get any repairs done until the end of the month. That would be ace if you could.0
-
I've just checked the spare wheel and its got a some damages spokes (one just snapped), I'll pull a wheel off my hard tail for you so long as you don't mind the sound of the clickity hope hub.0
-
Ha ha!! hey it would be an honour to have a pro II hub clicking away on the back of the bike. Will you need to remove the disc rotor and replace it with my 160mm or just fasten the adjusting bracket to my giant???0
-
better of sticking on your rotor, I've got the tools its not hard, hopefully get away with using the cassette that's already on it, taking them off a pro II can be a real pain if need be switch the chain as well.0
-
Yeah think your right, what cassette you running on the hardtail, shimano or sram or some other brand, cant see it making much of a difference but shall wait and see.0
