Depends who's out but Mick, Moggy and I did 19 miles in just over 2.5 hours on Tuesday night. That was a longer one than usual and fairly non-stop. It's usually 12-15 miles, 1.5 - 2 hours but as I say, depends whos's out and how long they want to be out for.
Weekend rides vary, was out for over 4 hours last time I joined the weekenders but that was a more steady pace with banter and rests 8)

Also depends who you ride with. Normally I'm out for between 2.5 to 3.5 hours on a week night. We did 2.5 hours again last night, but were stopped by a lack of light as James tagged along without lights. It''s now geting dark in the forest from 9.15PM..
    Crashing hard since 94...

2.5 hours is my limit really, due to the distance I have to go to get back home! May be able to start earlier from September though as circumstances are changing but I'll have to see when the time comes

Mr A, there the elite group there is also a leisure group if your not up for that.

Its not the distance its the climbing involved which is the killer the wyre is very hilly they likely got 3000ft of climbing in that ride.

I wouldn't have thought so Dyl, you'd struggle to get that in on a Peaks ride!

Sorry Debbie, but Dyl's right. Last ride on the proper gps ( not phone gps) tracked over 3500 feet of climbing. That was on a normal night ride. Similarly I've clicked over 4000 feet climbing at Clent in an 90 min ride.

No one with a Sat Track?? , Peaks rides are just longer pitches of similar steepness if not to steep ride up rather than multiple pitches of shorter.

I tried to track a shorter ride but my altitude was all over the shop.

Tonights ride is 22-25 miles typically, loads of road and canal, fast group but estimated 600-800ft of climbing, thats what the rigid is built for.

Ofcourse I spent the day writing GPS tracking / data collecting software at a client, so thats enough gps talk for me :)

Hmm I'm still dubious of that but I don't have GPS so you are probably right. I also may be getting feet and metres mixed up which would make a lot of difference!

Oh Mick - it's Debs, not Debbie, thanks :)

Missgroover - I should be out Weds night, 7.30.....only a steady one though. I do need to test my new lights out ready for the w'end.

You missed a good one in Scotland, the weather was very nice in the end... I enjoyed the red at Glentress, black was pretty good too....Kirroughtree was one of my favs though...
  • Glad you enjoyed it and came back on one piece and sorry for my no show...as it turned out good job I didn't as I wasn't well yesterday and would not have been fit to drive home!
And no it wasn't alcohol induced!
See you 7.30 Weds, needed lights in the forest from just after 8.30 last week, nights already drawing in which I am quite excited about :P

Red / Spooky woods is very good, black is nice and remote and goes out into the middle of know where by that radio tower, what a climb at the start.
  • Should be out on Wednesday.
Hope to have a first proper run out on the Kona Hei Hei.
  • I've managed to lose my light mount for the my full suss so may have to pootle round in the dark  Can't use my other bike as it's set up for SITS and I don't want to break it!
  • Regarding the climbing discussion, I've only got one ride uploaded on to Garmin Connect and it was 43km in 5:24 with 1087m of climbing.

    Nice bike... :)

I tried one over18 months ago, the only reason that stopped me buying one was that I had already previously owned 3 Kona's and wanted something different.
