I managed to get to Wyre on Sunday with the missus for a gentle ride, been ill all week so nothing to hard was in order. There were a few gangs of lads about, was any of them any of you guys? There were three in particular we kept bumping into that were sat at the VC around 10.30 ish i think it was! I was on my blue FSR and my better half was on a red one.

Hope you have all recovered and that the ride wasn't too long - I get a bit carried away sometimes! I reckon we did about 18 miles. Might have found a different way back but need to do some more exploring first. Thanks to the search party for recovering my cateye :) C ya next Sunday?

Shanta - not sure if anyone from the group rode yesterday, we went out today.
  • shanta, I think I was the only one from BikeRadar in the forest on Sunday and I was on my own.

    Today's route, about 32km

    3500935045_9b153777e4_o.jpg

A bit confusing because I went in to Bewdley first to help set up the Sustrans display for the Discover Bewdley weekend, then went back again afterwards to help take it down and logged it all as one route.
The Secret Garden or Jungle Run is the one that cuts through the number 52.38 on the map.
The next one over to the right is the one I mentioned that goes past the pond.
The next one over again that cuts through 52.37 is the route we took back after we missed the turning for the pond.

Just remembered! This is the link for the Rough Ride in Kington, Herefordshire. There are two routes - 48km and 75km. They take entries on the day.

    Thanks for the route militantgraham.

    32km = 19.8838 miles - we'll make it 20 next time :lol:
  • June 14th.
Hmmm, that's a week after I do the Bristol 12 hour solo and a week before I do the Mountain Mayhem 24 hour solo.
    Why not ? It's only 7000ft of climbing. :D

There was rain first thing so it was a little greasy in places, muddy in others and dry in lots of places. It wasn't too bad and the rain cleared up. 10 turned up, 2 punctures and I hugged my first tree :D 3 of us took a different route back and we saw lots of deer, missed a turn and went through some private land and we weren't even groaned at - Result :  I hope every one enjoyed it as we were out for 4 and half hours or maybe just a little longer

Thanks guys, really enjoyed the ride today! Good to ride with some new faces. Also good to catch up with a few old faces - good to see you Chris, and no offense meant to Sarah ;-)

Won't be out in the Wyre this week, or next weekend, as I have an XC day planned at Cwmcarn on Saturday, then a CwmDown uplift booked for Sunday. I love getting to ride both my bikes in the same weekend :-)

Will hopefully be riding around Bringewood/Mortimer Forest on Friday morning with Muddypuddle if anyone's off work that day?
Remember - a little adventure is good for you !

Is that the Whitcliffe car park ? (or near by).

Friday ride at Bringewood/Mortimer is confirmed to start at 9am.

Mounty - if Whitcliffe is the one that overlooks the town then it is on the same road but you need to carry straight on for about 1 mile uphill. The forestry offices are on the left, there is a sign. We park on the right hand side opposite the entrance - loads of off road parking there.

Muddypuddle - the whitcliffe car park is the one I remember from memory and I think you are right, its on the same road but further up, just looked on google maps...

    See you all at 9.

    Cheers :D

Didn't get out for a ride again away PEOPLE!!

I'll think on the Duke at 10, not a morning person working saturday night ( kinda unpaid ) but shouldn't be back too late ( think 1am ) so maybe.

2 weeks without 1 XC Ride just midnight road rides :(
  • Is it sunday at 10.00am at the Duke William as usual then ?
    I'll be there.
