Time to start thinking about the 2009 Metric Century challenge.
The challenge is very basic.
To successfully complete the challenge, all you need to do is ride one metric century, a ride of 100 km or 62.18 miles each month through 2009,
Riding one a month is enough for me but why not set yourself a target to aim for? Get out and ride as many as you can. Each Century gets you a point.
The guidelines are:
-Click reply to post Add yourself to the list of participants before 31st January 2009.
-Keep only one post per participant and ‘edit’ your post after each ride.
-Complete your first ride by 31 Jan 2009. No late starters or double rides to catch up after 31 January 2009
-Ride one metric century each and every month.
-Each Metric Century is worth one point. Double metrics (200km) are worth two points and so on.
-For Brevet rides or anything else lasting longer than one continuous day, the date the ride completed is the date posted. (Your post would look something like this,

Well the sun finally decided to shine on Poole and the Purbecks to I couldn't resist breaking with tradition and bagging August's century at the start of the month rather than scrambling to fit it in at the end. A lovely ride down to Swanage, a few hill repeats on the Langon Matravers/Lingston Rd and back home via Corfe, Wareham and Upton.
Hi to any fellow riders to passed me as I was going up and down the hills (I was black Cannondale, St Raphael top); and a big F.R.O to the car drivers who did their best to spoil things. There really was some top-class twattery on display today.

I'm in again - and will try to keep proper records this time! I think I did around 35 last year but only logged 5!
Well it's taken until Boxing Day to realise that I am officially rubbish at logging rides!!
I would estimate I've managed around 45-50 this year, most Sunday rides were well over 100kms as we've got that down to around 3 hours.
