Gonna be checking Google Street View to see if we're immortalised!

    Bloody hell

I am never riding with you lot...I get up hills, slowly but surely...none of this racing up them business..dear god...I'm going to go and have a lay down just thinking about it....

TN, I'm with you there although having experienced Richmond Park this morning I'd have to add I can only push the bike up hills at the moment. Maybe in a year's time.

Sounded like a lot of fun too

Well I am doing the New Forest Road challenge the first weekend in July

It starts EARLY on the Sunday morning

Linsencentral is open for business with beds a-plenty to stay in the night before plus carb-loading opportunities.

Please let me know if you want to come along. The start is around 7 miles from my house. Add that to the 93-mile long course and you have a nice tidy century.....

Is anyone doing the Tour of the Black Mountains on 25 July? Roger?

yup, assuming life doesn't crash head along into it, which in my settled calrm life never happens....

i'm down for the full mounty, see how i feel on the day, i over heat easly so if it's wet or at least cool might still be a goer but if it's hot i'll be dropping to a quick spin to hay and then following the Usk back.

I've not signed up as yet. Going to see how I feel after I'm back from holiday i.e. whether I've put on way too much weight. :)

Aw looking what I found, takes me back to the good old days of MASSHOOF rings and jokes about G66

So why don't we kick this back into life, same format as before local route host pace is as per the riders on the day and yes no one gets left behind.

I have a particularly cheeky little hilly ride In mind, natch!

I am definitely up for seeing some more of the country in good company on two wheels. Will happily host a New Forest loop sometime

Would love to join in, but August and September are out apart from the ride into the hills with Jash et al.

  • Same here - more than happy to host a ride, a fair few beds, and it's really very flat round here in Essex!

August is out, but September is pretty clear...

Essex is much nearer my way, that could be tempting :)

Yep August is done for me but Sept is good apart from the wk of the 13th my wife keeps going on about our wedding or something but I told her we're already had that, jeez!

    So here's a few venues ideas then (ride names in brackets);

New Forest, flat but possibly windy, (aw! look at the ponies) :D
Wilts/Hants, hilly but short route lots of fast descents and sharp climbs, (feel the burn)
Essex, flat so LiTs can drop everyone, (dropped)
Off roading somewhere, CX & MTB welcome, (it's CX season)
Bristol to London, suggested elsewhere for those mental enough or for those who'd like to try just a small section of the route, kind of a ride along.

    A few more:
    Eastern Hampshire/West Sussex/South Downs
    Isle of Wight
London- Brighton (would be nice to do that one in daylight, without 27k others...).

New Forest definitely sounds good, never been round there, ditto Hants/Wilts border.
And Essex's absence of hills appeals to me....

How about either Chicksands (Befordshire) or Aston Hill (Aylesbury). Both have decent XC loops for beginners, and something a little more hardcore for the nutters (yours truly) to play on :lol::lol:

I'd be very up for a trip to either, or an alternative venue that has a good mix of XC & DH trails.

I've not been that thrilled by Chicksands for XC stuff, I don't reckon it's that great a place to get a decent length ride in. Not been to Aston Hill, but I've heard it's worth a visit, but again the XC course not lengthy enough to form a good ride on it's own.

Thetford's not too far off, but isn't the most exciting of places. I've heard Bedgebury could be alright.

There's some stuff around the Chilterns which is pretty good, if you're prepared to map read.

Bedgebury isn't great if you're used to quality singletrack, although I believe it's getting better. Thetfords good, but there's nothing really for the gravity merchants

The loop at Aston may only be 6 miles or so but it's quite technical. I only suggested it because I love the DH & 4X tracks

TBH any trail centre outside of Wales or Scotland is going to be fairly short. If you want miles the best way may be to get the map out, there's some great off-road xc orientated stuff arround the Surrey Hills.

As with all mountain biking, I'm less concerned about miles and more with time. Half hour loops leave a little to be desired :)

Have a look on something like singletrack world

    http://www.singletrackworld.com/trailguide/uk/south-east/the-north-downs/

I've heard the riding's fantastic, although I've never tried it myself. It fairly accesible for the majority as well

Yeah, I've done some bits and pieces around there.

I'd do more, but it's just a bit of a pain getting from north of the river to south of it.

I am more than happy to host another Isle of Wight trip but it's a bit warm for that right now - let's wait till it goes below zero and I'll consider it ;-)

Actually I'd love to do a night ride round the IOW and get to a beach for sunrise.
