Of course, Pros are less bothered by the constant stream of Cervelo product recalls...

Why, you, ... them's fightin' words ... lemmeatya

Actually, I've done pretty well out of both recalls, so I'm not complaining

    I rest my case!!

  • Bikes can be brought upstairs, the manager is fine with that.

I'll be locking mine outside - don't fancy carrying it up the stairs!!

    But...but....the poor thing...what if it's raining!?

Mine is only my winter hybrid but nevertheless it's a pampered thing, living in my studio flat with me in the warm and dry.

This is what SS/FG was invented for. I hate leaving bikes out, but I'll leave the Touche in the rain simply because there are no expensive parts that might rust up. It still lives inside when at home/office though!

The Focus is coming upstairs - but then it's so light I just let it float up :)
  • I have to confess the Globe is hub-geared, so I've no excuse really, but I still get twitchy knowing it's outside being rained on/open to thieves.

And yes, okay, I am a ponce who, despite it raining, decided that showing off his flashy bike to his bikey mates was more important than keeping it warm and dry...

Tchah... they're bikes. And rain is only water... Theft is my main concern.

I suspect that this attitude to rain may change when I get my Viner... no wait... must not select bikes purely on appearance...

    Right when is kick off?
Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?
  • I'm aiming for an early out from work, but realistically will probably get there at 6 like I always do.

I believe others are aiming for 1730-ish.

I can bang out early as my morale-o-meter is officially "low"

I can get there at 1730 (no really this time I can)

I'm debating - do I go from office to bike shop - buy a spanner - return to office, fit new wheels then head to Morpeth... Or sort the wheels on monday (it's raining, they're white, it'll all go wrong) and just head stright to the pub.

Dammit, I hate not being able to put new stuff on the bike immediately.

On the other hand it'll make Monday more palatable.

I'm expecting lots of gossip tommorow though!

  • Can someone steer me in the right direction if I'm spotted trying to drag my bike through a crowded pub like some sort of mentalist*...I'll be wearing long red kneesocks with my 3/4 lengths and a red Ground Effect jersey...and I'm tall...

*I blatantly won't have the front to do this...I'll just end up locking it up if I can't figure out where to go.

So the entrance with the stairs is the one not on Embankment, yes?
  • Is there a bar upstairs? How are we going to get drinks?

Climbing the stairs with a round for 20 may be challenging.
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

There's not a bar upstairs, no. This was mentioned a few pages back.... I'm sure there'll be lots of volunteers for carrying duty.

I'm sure you'll find a way. Mines a pint of Tribute, cheers!

Actually Greg, will you be able to climb the stairs at all in your condition?

    I worry.

I hadn't realised this - it's gonna be a bit of a mare. Hopefully the rain'll ensure the pub aint too busy. Still it normally quietens down early enough.

I don't think it'll be any worse than getting drinks to outside. And as you say, it seems to quieten down pretty fast.
