Richmond Park Ride

ditto on the timings, I stayed for one more heavy traffic lap (nice draft from WVM) I had to get the most out of the trip especially seeing as I'd snuck out of the house in the early hours even though I had dinner plans :P
I have to say I was very surprised by the number of cyclist & runners in the park but then I has been over 15 years since my last visit.
I fear I might have stage 1 man flu on the wayRule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Hope yerself and itboffin are feeling better soon. I'm just knackered this morning, by the time I got home at midnight it'd been a rather long day.0 -

As you can all quite clearly see, Jash is such a tart that he turned up with 2 bikes so that he could decide which one would suit riding with us the best! Thanks again for the ride, though my legs are not thanking you at the moment after todays ride in. By the time that Friday comes I think I could be in some sort of trouble.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -
Sounds like you guys had a good time - as soon as my current calendar pile-up sorts itself out I'll have to try and join up with you all.
Though by then you might have become a clique and be shunning us latecomers, like the new kid at school.0 -
I couldn't play, baby Bianchi at home was a having a screaming fit and I thought a "Honey, can I just leave you this screaming baby (by the way she needs changing) I'm off for a couple of pleasant hours to have a ride" conversation would not go down well.....
Oh Well.....
20 Min laps are definitey getting into the "not hanging round" zone...........Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.
What would Thora Hurd do?0 -

Nah, they won't shun you.
They'll steal your dinner money, and tell you to use the coatpeg of the biggest boy in the class though, no mistaking.0 -

The more the merrier!

Oi! Give me some credit, the second bike is a Trek, I'd never turn up with a Trek!
Sorry IT but I just don't like 'em very much - even though yours looked better than most I've seen! Hope you got home in time to cook ok.
Good to meet some new folks; it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning, apologies if i didn't quite enter into the pootling spirit...- 2023 Vielo V+1

I think the rider in the background on the right is on a Giant in "Mosquito Bikes" jersey. He was drafting me, so I think I'm just out of picture. I thought we were meeting by the Gate so I went to the roundabout and turned back, hopped on to the verge, and saw you guys go past. D'oh!
Jash - you might have been the tartiest rider in the Park. There was a chap on a white Isaac who had sort of matching Northwave gear, but I think he fell short of your standards.FCN 2-4.

Just in time to eat yes
As for my Trek it's a good all round bike but not as fast as this one

Wotcha Guys
Sorry I missed the ride I was vetoed from the early morning start as I'd been away the rest of the weekend.
I did, however, get to ride down to York Hill and Titsey Hill in Kent to watch the Catford CC Hill Climb (the end anyway) and the start of the Bec Hill Climb. A total ride of 50 miles with some fairly decent climbs and descents interspersed.
I'd be keen as mustard for another one though. And ChingfordS maybe we could do an East end ride if you had any..green.....space...oh well it was a nice thoughtRoadie FCN: 3

Wow, what a difference. Took my bike in for its first service, although he reckoned it wasn't ready yet, so I'll take it back again in three weeks.
But he re-adjusted the saddle, which had somehow slipped a couple of inches
And pumped up the tyres, which had deflated to 35psi as I've never pumped them up
Headed for home afterwards, but it felt so powerful and speedy with the saddle and tyres sorted, that I turned round and headed over to Richmond Park.
Went round most of it on the big ring up front apart from the hill, and the difference in speed was amazing. Although as I forgot my Garmin and the computer magnet had been knocked out I don't know my lap speed. But once I fixed that I was doing around 20 on the flat, compared to probably around 15 on Sunday.

I'm slightly ashamed that none of us offered to fettle your bike. Tyre pressure makes a massive difference. If you haven't already I'd strongly recommend you buy a track pump and check pressure at least once a week. Road tyres should be up at around 100 - 120 psi.- 2023 Vielo V+1

It was probably a fair assumption that I'd be capable of doing both of those things myself. Which I can now incidentally.
I actually bought a track pump on Saturday, I just hadn't used it, but I had the full demo today, so I will dutifully check my tyre pressure regularly in future... :oops:0 -
Is it a carbon seatpost/frame? To avoid slippage and over-tightening I use some of this:

You should be, a bike tart such as yourself.

Liar!
They saw you had a low saddle and no air in your tyres but as a group decided to stiff you by letting you struggle.
The boys didn't fancy the oppo!
Black Ops in Richmond Park.
Edited to add - when I said "didn't fancy the oppo" I meant they could do without the competitionor opposition, not suggesting that you are a mingerFixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

I'd have fecked around with your barrel adjuster on your rear mech so it'd jump around all the time and tightened your brakes so they were always on.

Just post a close-up and there'll be an "I fancy Jen J" thread before you know it...0

I have no idea what you are talking about so I'll take that as a gentlemenly compliment then? You would have done your utmost to assist a lady in distress? 8)0 -
