This Sunday at 9am meeting at Roehampton Gate...this is taken from a suggestion on the SCR thread.

Oh but I may not actually be there due to hangover duties (ahem)

I *may* be there, depending on how the bike/run on Saturday goes.

If I'm not there at nine, don't wait. And if I am there, I'll be the one cowering with fear.

Um, what do any of you look like, as I believe there are masses of people on bikes meeting there at around that time usually?

Well I'm there. Meet outside the little (park keeper's?) house or at carpark entrance? Turn left if coming in from Roehampton gate to find the carpark...

Pic of me in my sig... I'll be helmetless but should be easy to spot with my penchant for red/white/black colour coordination!

There's the bike rental place next to the cafe in the carpark at Roehampton Gate. Lets meet there as we wouldn't want to get accused of blocking the pavement when the whole SCR club turn up for a ride.

I'll be on a black Boardman, with a white, red and black helmet, probably dark blue shorts (not navy ;) ) and greg Simano MTB shoes, but not sure of what top yet. I need to know if Greg66 is coming or not so I can ensure I wear something that will stop him from wanting to "be my daddy".

I'll be there on the bike in the "HAVE" link in my sig, black Spech shoes, black bike shorts, top to be decided. Not sure I'll risk riding helmetless with this bunch of amateurs trying to form a chaingang ;)

Jen, you better turn up - we're doing this for you! We're all incredibly goodlooking if that helps.

How gutted am I that you spotted that? Jash, you have now ruined my Friday :(

All I need now is Greg to come along and notice...

Oh, I noticed it all right.

It's just that it's a level of adulation that I'm not unfamiliar with. So I let it pass.

OTOH, wearing MTB shoes to a road bike outing? Wow. That's like bringing a custard pie to a cage fight.

Sunday morning's going to be ugly.

    AND ...

I would just like to remind everyone that this came up once before, and I talked us back from the edge of the abyss. Wisely, I think. This "social get together" will end up in blood running down the road, tears, frustration, anger, swearing, feuding, and a few compound fractures, I'll wager.

    Don't say I didn't warn you.

    Me? I can't wait
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

oh my goodness I was almost wishing I lived in London and could join you until I saw...
    a) jashburnham you look frighteningly quick and professional in that little picture
    b) what a bunch of competetive fashionistas you are..

Only kidding, I'd like to meet you all sometime. When I can ride a bit quicker. I'll ride up and meet you there. I'd be the knackered out one.....

If I turn up on Sunday, I'm planning to be really quiet, so they don't notice when they drop me.

Those plus baggies lulls lycra clad road warriors into a false sense of security. Anyway, there's something I like about tightening a cord around "Greg's" neck every day

He does raise a fair point however. Perhaps we should set some sort of tone for this event so that people can come prepared. For example if its a nice club ride aiming to do 2 laps of the park in an hour then we can ensure we are appropriately mentally prepared. Alternatively if its decided that its all out war and every rider for themselves in a 3 lap dual to the death then we may come with different expectations .

Personally I'm hoping for some sort of middle ground, though I've only done RP on my Cape Wrath before (hence the name) so I'm not really qualified to make a suggestion

You know how much stick you'll get if you don't show :)

Also, seriously - this ride isn't about dropping anyone.

I was planning to meet at the car park and then just play it by ear, see if I can keep up, and if not just pootle along at my own pace and maybe say hello when I'm lapped.

Aternatively, if I turn up and think you all look scary, I may just pootle off without even stopping at the car park...

x post. I can see why the 'quote' feature is used so much. It's not on my normal forums. I have a lot to learn on here!

Ok, I'll see how tomorrow goes, and will try and turn up on Sunday.

Only thing is I may *need* to take it easy, as I'm running a big race in two weeks and I've badly neglected the running since I started biking and swimming, so need to get two long runs in this weekend - that won't happen if I've mashed my thighs going up Broomfield Hill too many times.

Well, I for one don't want to go balls out (oops - can I say that around a lady? I mean a new lady - LiT and linsen and Cori and the others have had long enough to get used to how gentlemen speak) and I think this will be a friendly ride to just get an idea of how these group rides might work. Though I wouldn't put it past Litts and CJ to attempt the occasional sprint bonus :)

That may be the problem - I'll probably try and beat them and not only will I lose, I'll more than likely break myself in the process.

I'm a competitive b****, but sadly without the talent to match my ambition ;)

If you give me a report of distance speed etc after this one I may incorporate another one sometime into some other London business - I like an excuse to come and be glad I don't live there occasionally

Don't get me wrong - I love London. Just couldn't cope with it every day
