  • big haul of new stuff for me after just turning 30, new Kwik-E mart Foska jersey, camelback, and some evans vouchers that mostly payed for a Selle Italie Flight Gel Flow saddle. Then treated myself to some Gore Xenon bib shorts, and will be getting a new Giro Atmos helmet this week.

Leaving work early today to go and start wearing out my new stuff.

Bit late now, but you should have drilled the cleat out, they had a how to in MBUK every spring when I was a kid. :P

I did consider that, but it didn't look feasible. Perhaps I should have given it a crack though. I wanted to saw through the screw, but couldn't get between the sole and cleat.

@ITB - ta for the tape reference.

I had to buy a new rear wheel and ended up with an M-wheels built one, a dt-swiss xr4.2d rim, dt swiss spokes and a shimano hub, I managed to destroy the previous dt swiss wheel that had a spesh hub in which the bearings decided to give up.

Apparantly it's a bit lighter than the 4.45 rim my rockhopper pro had so not too bad.

while not strictly all bike gear, they will be used on the bike, and have just arrived.

1 x 2xu triathlon top (f*ck me it's tight, yeah right that's an XL size, and according to your size guide I'm a L)
    1 x race belt
    1 x elastic laces
1 x cleats for spds (my left foot keeps unclipping)

Cheered me up on an already good day. :D

A sale doesn't count unless it's at least 50% off AND it brings the price down into your budgetary range. hence me not buying either of the above :)

with care instructions that include only wash in pixie tears (or something like that), I expect this: mt1382a_blkblk.jpg to turn into your above picture after 3 washes.

On the plus side, does hold a beer gut in check nicely. Haven't had such a flat stomach in about 5 years :D

n+1. I'm actually going through with this one, unlike last time (with hindsight, even more glad I didn't get that Spesh Tarmac- wrong spec, would have cost me more to get it as right as I could for me). Better price for a better bike IMHO. I think LiT might approve of my choice ;)

  • Hurrah hurrah. After 15 years of mountain bikes, I just bought my first bike with drop handlebars - a Cannondale CAAD9 Tiagra Compact, in matt black (or BBQ, as Cannondale would have it - um... why?). Would have gone for the 105 version, but our cycle to work scheme has a cap of £1000. I know the 2010 range is about to come out, but I think a man of my build probably wouldn't notice the difference. Very excited! Back to leg-powered commute (rather than the Bonneville).

So anybody want to buy a virtually unused '08 Rockhopper Comp? :)

You would notice the difference with the 2010 model, it will likely be more expensive and a worse spec 8)

Congratualtions on joining the fold, I'm also a lapsed MTBer
