Ta, ordered along with this green one for my new commuter/gravel bike - not getting on with the stock saddle.pinno said:Yep ^. Celeste.
£21 each from the excellent merlin.
As an aside, I noticed that the ever present £5 off Tredz voucher still appears, yet now it is only valid on spends over £50, when it used to be £30!
These were the brakes (BR-561) I was thinking of:
However I can't see her carrying enormous amounts of speed for a while yet, and I wonder if the reviews are a bit picky if you know what I mean.
I can entertainingly try and ride it and see what they are like first - potentially assuming the pads are changeable it might be that is all that is required.
It also comes with white tape, so I'll probably let her have it with that, get it mucky, and then when it needs replacing, go for some Celeste tape.
This bike is only 20 miles away, I nearly bought one (in full Celeste) that was 60 miles away, admittedly newer, and 10spd versus 9 spd, but they wanted £450 for it - I think this was a better deal, and arguably a nicer paint job.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

My first purchase of 'racing' parts was a toe clips and straps, my next was a Suntour superbe rear mech (bought in Tunbridge Wells 2 days after the great storm in '87). The Mavic (as ridden by S Kelly on the Vitus) was £44 and out of my price range. What a cool bit of kit. The Next purchase was the first version of the Shimano 105 Aero brake levers.
I don't know what 105 is like now, but they were excellent.

First ride with some Endura trousers so far so good!

Well exactly, and the saddle should tie in with the bike pretty well too:pinno said:

Bought last week a "new" MTB (never mind I ride mostly road), 10yr old but basically almost new.
It will stay in my Mum's garage in Riva del Garda, ready for when I visit.
Full carbon
Hydraulic disc brakes
Groupset Deore XTR / XT
Price: 280€
The shop says with equivalent specs, brand new today a bike like this would cost over 4500€.
It seems the price was this low because the 26" wheels, which are now an old standard.0 -
Garmin 1030 from Garmin, for a bit of a change, could have sworn this was not part of their birthday sale until very recently, so the 1030 I have had stashed from CRC bought for £380, is winging it's way back today, as this one was bought for a pretty decent £338.
Pretty sure the full bells and whistles pack was £390.
Seem to recall my 1000 when new was in the region of £340ish, though I think that came with all the extras, but I don't need any of that malarkey, so this isn't 'too' bad in the scheme of things, and stops me considering the 1040 in any way shape or form.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

That is good value! I nabbed one (Or potentially one black and one yellow....) from Merlin back in the summer, an official one for around £10 I think it was, which I thought was reasonable. Also have a generic ebay/amazon screen protector to go on as well.N0bodyOfTheGoat said:

The green charge spoon I ordered from Merlin is going to go back - it's pretty nice, but what I did not realise is that it's a cloth finish, where as I was expecting something less absorbent shall we say - not really practical for a commuting bike.
Just picked this up for my daughters new bike - for £25, want her to have a few saddle choices when it comes time to properly ride it next year, so we can try and see off any saddle discomfort asap, and then sell whatever ones on that are not comfortable.
As it's a tiny frame, needed a side entry cage, and was about to buy one, but checked my stock, and picked up a black and white one which goes nicely, some time ago as a 'just in case' so that's a bonus.
Oh and some of this bar tape for the new 34cm bars:

ahaha, well my self imposed 6 month spending ban was on cycle clothing for myself, so I have been good, and despite seeing some good deals, have not ordered a single thing for me :-)
I commute, so I may need consumables, mechanical bits in that period of time, though hopefully not, and I am covered for commuting clothing.
Thanks @drhaggis , it's a Liv tape, and cyclestore had it for a pretty reasonable (I thought) £13 or so - most importantly I'm pretty confident she will love it, and it should prove to be a lot more practical than the white tape the bike came with - which I had planned to leave intact, until I decided to size down from the 38 to 34cm bars.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Always a risk with children, for sure, but one I feel is worth taking.pinno said:The bike will look pretty smart. Let's hope she doesn't get bored after 2 weeks...
She takes part in a local term time skills session, and has been in the top tier now since the summer, and it's never a mission to get her to go, quite the opposite, which is nice.
I'm hoping a bike that is a good fit, and appeals to her visually will make her want to ride, and the aim is for next year to get some more youngsters shortish group rides going out, both on and off road.
She's also, unprompted, expressed an interest in taking part in some cx races, anda although I know she rode a couple in the summer, I was surprised about.
She's even been practicing the cx mount/dismount, and seems pretty proficient (more than me at anyrate) and confident with the whole thing.
I'm thinking to start her with flatties on it, and probably try the 520s on the Frog around the local park, to see if she takes to riding clipped in or not.
I don't want to put her off, but equally she is the one who has suggested it due to a fair few of her mates riding them in the skills sessions.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
