Do u have code for Pongo?
I found the cycology socks comfortable, but the colour fades pretty quickly so overall I was disappointed.0 -

Hey TTB, MERINO20 knocks 20% off any of their merino socks only.
Only until midnight tonight, though it also said that it was 'midnight' on Feb 28th.
That's disappointing re the cycology socks, though with the discount due to buying 2 items, they only set me back £2.50 technically.
Love their regular and long sleeve Ts, fit and quality is superb.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

I've had a second hand Garmin 800 for circa 18 months which only cost me £40 but had a big scratch on the screen. The backlight has also now stopped working so it's pretty useless during the dark six months of the commuting year (yes, I've checked the screen settings, it's not that).
So I had some vouchers I needed to spend and splashed out on a new Garmin 820 plus speed and cadence sensors. Looking forward to the next ride out.FCN = 40 -

Endura FS260 Pro Jetstream Jersey for £24
Another one of the above as they sent out an undersized jersey, aka I ordered one that was too small or I'm too big.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -

- Campag Scirocco wheels
That's it.
For now.FCN 2-4.

I have just taken delivery of a Speedsleev Ranger S, basically a very neat, compact saddle bag.
I usually carry my puncture repair stuff in a Sticky Pod in my middle jersey pocket, but I've got some very long rides coming up this year and wanted a solution to free up a pocket without having some monstrosity dangling below my saddle.
First impressions of the Speedsleev are very good. It sits very tidily snug up against the saddle and shouldn't rattle at all. I've managed to fit in there a normal inner tube, 2x CO2 cartridges and head, tyre levers, 3x allen keys, glueless patches and latex gloves.
It seems a better solution than the other things they do that leave the contents open to the elements.
This is the fella I have got...

I first shifted to a compact for the Marmotte in 2010, then reverted to a 52/39 because it was going cheap or something, and then went back to a 50/34 after a year or so.
EDIT: I did look for a 52 or 53 ring today, but remembered that I didn't have that spider any more.FCN 2-4.

I'd be surprised if you needed the 32. I used a 12-27 second and third time, and am a good 10kg on you. A 12-25 was a near-disastrous decision.FCN 2-4.

Good point - are you looking into any specific nutritional plan for it?FCN 2-4.

Nobody's ever said that they wished they'd had a higher bottom gear for climbing... 32 sounds good to me !0

Ha! Very true.
Part of the reasoning was that I'd need a longer rear mech and new chain, and I just didn't ride hills often enough to justify the expense.FCN 2-4.

Di2 GS rear mech will take a 32 with no issues and switching from a 52 to a 50 at the front should mean I can keep the same chain. Using Q Rings though so it might all go pear shaped.
No special nutrition plan yet. I dont even have a nutrition plan for breakfast. At the moment I'm just trying to get my average blood glucose below 10mmol/l. Target is about 4 or 5. Testing myself about 10 times a day and seeing which foods spike me and which don't. Eating a lot of Greek yoghurt.
Found out on Saturday night that three pints of Doom Bar and shared box of chocolates for winning the school quiz night causes a massive spike. Who knew?Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX

Very true, last time I did the Marmotte (2016) i was in the best shape of my life but sure enough come the first real climb i looked down and said out loud crap i wish i had another gear, 11-32T is just extra weight really all i needed was the 32 all day.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.0 -
32 cog the only gear you need for the Marmotte, love it. Yes the climbing is by far the biggest part of the day and they do go on forever. Especially the last one.0
-
How often do you spin out a 50/11? Compact is the way forward, especially if you're going away somewhere hilly.
I competed in the Alpajurra Magna last year with a 36/30 as my smallest gear, and I was in it a lot! 300w for an hour up a hill in the granny ring was not fun. I had to push those watts or I would have gone backwards!0 -

Have you gone all diabetic? PM me if you have any questions about cycling with diabetes, I probably won't know the answers but it is something I've been struggling with for the last 15 years or so!0 -

With the wife not working I haven't bought any new kit in ages but had to buy some new winter gloves for next year as my current gloves (another set of Gore Power gloves) are coming to the end of their life:
Gore Bikewear Power GWS Gloves
Also finally bought a Madison Apex RoadRace softshell jacket as recommended by various people.... £49 from Amazon, in XL, the L was too tight. lets see how that works out :-)
Will need to buy a new chain and cassette soon as well for the Jamis.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
