Rapha brevet insulated gilet. It was half price. Rude not to

Hi Bender, could you please let me know what the sizing are like on the insulated gilet please , do you still have size up on rapha clothing
    Thanks

I have the Brevet Insulated Jacket - seems to size pretty much on a par with the usual from Rapha. Maybe a little more generous than the pro-team stuff

I remember the days of the Rapha stock selling like hotcakes when a sale took place, now most items are in stock even after a few weeks. I have been looking at a new softshell as my Sportful Alpe is pretty stinky after 4 years of continued winter use. I've been looking at the Core Jacket and the RoadRace Apex jacket but I can't decide if I should spend an extra £30 on the Rapha.

    Ooh, I'm irrationally jealous ^

I've always fancied a Brompton but never really needed one.

Bit of a pointless purchase if I never fold it up, but I still really want one.

If I ever had to commute by train I would get a Brompton, is that the reason you got one Arthur?

I'd get the Apex, it's superb. The Core is good, but not as good as the Apex even at the same price.

No - I have a 10 - 15 mile commute from Chichester into the lovely South Downs National Park!

Long story but it's not new, bought it from a guy in my wife's Company, he had been given it by his previous company to travel between factories but he never used it, it was sitting in it's bag in his office for two years. Still has the original claggy chain lube on it, it's a good spec, an S6R (I'm now a Brompton bore) and has dynamo lighting and the Brompton carry bag, must have cost nearly two grand new, mine for £400, seemed too good to pass over.
Not convinced by the colour scheme, it's Gulf racing colours for those of a certain age who might remember, orange with light blue forks/steerer and rear triangle. I like orange so may get the blue bits resprayed if I can be bothered. I'm getting used to it though.

Kalf Flux jersey down to 21.99 at Evans. Bought one in small last year, really nice colour but returned as too snug, so went medium this time. 10% BC discount took sting out of their now standard £4.99 delivery.

They're actually a bit of a pain on crowded commuting trains. For train commutes into Central London I've switched to riding my pub bike from home to the station, and then a Boris bike at the other end; I literally haven't ridden my Brompton for several years. With bike hire schemes popping up all over the place that strategy would presumably work in quite a lot of cities, though a Brompton would still be a good option for smaller and more rural destinations.
    Pannier, 120rpm.
  • When I first bought my Gravel bike I bought some Panaracer Gravel Kings 35mm which are fine tyres but really over sized, i'd lost one tyre to a sidewall rip, but i'd left the other on, but getting ridiculous amounts of clogging so bought another 32mm one. Over sized they may be but good tyres don't seem to wear as quick as the x-ones, fairly robust though I have tried to be less MTB lite rides and more faster old farm tracks and what not.

A pair of Bontrager Velocis shoes in blue. 43 was fine on left foot, but the heel arch very uncomfortable on the right one. 44 feels slightly too large :-/. No 43.5's. I feel totally unconvinced, even if the shoes look lovely. Maybe I should return those before putting the cleats.

Was all set to spend £54 on the Ultegra 8000 version, but I had forgotten the newish 105 7000 series medium cage could also officially work with the 105 7000 / Ultegra 8000 11-34 cassettes, so why not spend £38 (silver) instead for that range and Shadow clutching?

As a climbing fan, even if I'm past it and too heavy, the 11-34 cassette looks worth more than the slightly easier gear than the 11-32s I've been using... There's more sprockets at the viable end for me (bigger than 16T) to use up steeper climbs with the 34T chainring.

Partial windstopper socks down to £25.99 at CRC. Not sure I've spent so much on a pair of socks before, so better be good. Reviews seem positive, and less sweaty than a plastic bag on your feet.

Sportful Lord Thermo jacket, though bought in medium so fits more like a jersey on me. I like the more muted colour, should be ideal for gravel rides (i.e. won't show the mud stains so much  )

  • Bit of a round-up... Bit of a windfall followed by a few weeks garden leave which gave me lots of time to meddle with the bike:

Giro Empires in the shiny blue colourway
Vector 3s pedals - faultless so far
Purple ceramic jockey wheels - couldn't care less about the ceramics tbh but they look cool
Gore C7 shakedry jacket - jesus it's good
A gabba-type jersey jacket from Pactimo, which is lovely

For my soon to be 6 year old daughter - as she wanted one of those 'curly barred bikes like mummy has'
    Frog-Road-67-e1467707312815.jpg?resize=1024%2C565

2nd hand - £175 off of the bay of e, instead of £440 new.
She's not very good at looking after stuff yet.

Has just had all new cables, will likely need a new chain, and I have some bar tape I can put on too.

Neither her nor I are Sky fans, but she now likes blue, and it came up for a decent price.

Yep was pretty pleased, was prepared to go up to £202 for it, as looking historically they seem to go for around £200-£220.
The proof will be when it is delivered on Friday of course, but the pics looked fine, and I'm aware it's in a used but 'good' condition, and the seller has 100% feedback, so here's hoping!

It was an auction I only spotted 3 hours before it ended, I was sorting the gears on her Frog 52 and that made me think about the next one, as she is not far off being at the limit of the seatpost, so that made me search, which turned the above up.
When I saw it it was only up to £60 - so put a late bid in :D

Stick a watch on ebay and I dare say something will turn up soon.
