A cheapish bike tool kit just to tide me over - living between three different places is a challenge. In Malmesbury this weekend and want to get out on the bike but the cassette is on the Neo and not on the wheel (amongst other things...)

Superstar Components Arc 22/Volta hub/CX Ray wheels. Blue hubs, which don't really match, but I wanted some light, wide, tubeless wheels I didn't mind hammering a bit. With the pdpd30fb code, 140 quid, which seems very reasonable. Hope the decals are easily removed

So this arrived well ahead of the estimated dispatch date, which was a nice surprise.

Big heavy beast, well packed, and nice and easy to setup - joined the Neo owners group on facebook, and picked up a few tips off there for how to thread the cassette on - bit of an art to it.

As a likely unnecessary precaution I bought some of these interlocking foam floor mats:
    5055803331399_01c&$PROMO_450_450$
And also had an Elite turbo mat not doing anything, so the Neo sits on the Elite mat, which sits on the foam mats.
Two packs was enough to more than cover the floor area for mine and the Vortex that is now setup with my gf's bike for her to use.
Other handy thing is it makes routing power cables and Ant+ extension cables a relative breeze.

Used one spacer for the cassette, as is 9 spd, and then realised I did have to use a chainwhip, not like on a normal wheel.

Popped the Felt on, and no issues with clearance, and luckily enough, no issues with the scraping noise that a few people are getting on brand new units, which generally means they need to go back.

First ride was an eye opener - suggests my Vortex over estimated my power by circa 10%, though as bad luck would have it, the first TR workout I did was one of the hardest apparently - I managed the first hour at 100%, but had to drop it to 95% for the last half hour, but was somewhat destroyed at the end.
I have since been riding with it on 92\93%, but am due an FTP next week now anyway, so will see a true reflection then, and probably a false drop from my last one some 6 weeks previous.

The ride itself is super smooth, I see now what they mean about the road feel, it's really good, as is the slight side to side movement, I think that probably accounts for a large percentage of the improvement of feel over the Vortex.

I have yet to use it with Zwift (Not currently a subscriber) as for one, I am signed up to TR (nearly 3 months into the training plans now - build phase next which I gather can be hard) and secondly, and critically I have a feeling my aging laptop will not be up to the spec anyway.

I am probably not getting the full potential on TR, but it is a mighty fine trainer, and I am very pleased to have it, and hope it continues to be reliable.

Was it worth nearly 4 times what the Vortex cost me - I think it is safe to say that is a no.

As luck would have it, the 18" floor fan I ordered a while back turned up yesterday, good timing pre ftp!

Am debating trying my Synapse adventure disc on there, but think I need to get a new QR for that to work.

    Now you mention Superstar:

Arc31 disc wheels for the commuter (spokes on the current Mavic Aksiums seem to have morphed into wet spaghetti - too much power awesome obvs  ) £199 down from £349 before any codes. Happy birthday to me.

Oooh, they look nice for £200. Does the code above work? I could do with some spare wheels.

Are the quoted weights right? They list them as approx 2Kg which is heavy, yet the reviews talk about them being light. I am confused.

Agreed, that is very confusing :?
Not such a stonking deal for a tenner more than I bagged the Pro lite Revos if they are that heavy.

i've gone for a pair at #140 they do as starter set and i'm very happy with my other superstar wheels

I'm actually considering getting a set of silver Arc31 wheels as well. To be honest, it's the expense of another pair of tyres, tubeless tape, valves and sealant that's putting me off more than anything. That, and it would mean my oldest, toughest, dearest wheel set would maybe get put out to pasture.

Having the item in hand, do the decals look easily removable? I prefer my wheels without much decoration

Can't say I've weighed them. But they don't seem overly heavy to me. I'm not much of a weight weenie though & it's all relative I guess.
Took the plunge on them largely because, as above, I've been really happy with other Superstar wheels I'm running.

Some new chainrings to give my turbo bike a faux-pro 52/36 up front. Why? V. embarrassing: to apply more torque (at lower cadence) in Zwift racing.  Might shave as much as .2s off my virtual Mall sprint.

It works like a chain whip (somehow) but I still need a cassette lockring tool (in fact, two, because the Tacx uses a non-Shimano one). Even if I had a cassette (and I might have one lurking somewhere), I'd still need a lock ring tool to attach the cassette.

I bought one of those generic kits like the ones Aldi/Lidl sell from time to time. If you're very careful, they're adequate and I can always keep it at work in future as a "team" bike toolkit.

It'll probably tip it down with rain all weekend and I'll end up using the bike on the turbo....

I bought a likely identical kit from Tredz for around £25. It's now sunning it up in Mauritius with my parents, and will hopefully be sufficient to fettle our two aging bikes that were sent across by sea.
First time used in anger will be June.

Is anyone else getting topcashback from wiggle for returns or am I just lucky?
I bought a really expensive castelli jersey a month ago and returned it because it was the wrong size, just got paid out a tenner cashback

So the scoop on the decals is;........there's no decals. What you see is etched in to the rim. I think it looks good, but not so good if you want plain black

I have one of those chain whip tools, it's bloody brilliant, the little raised rivet things lock around whichever sprocket has the teeth associated with the corresponding numbered hole on the tool, it works as well as a chain whip, but doesn't get as skanky, and it's easy to clean.

I bought a bag load (100 ) of crimp on cable end tidys. I always end up with at least 1 less than I need for a cabling job some how :? I recabled a couple of my bikes with some PTFE encased cables, that I thought I'd give a go, from Decathlon. I have been pretty impressed by their performance so far, so I bought some more, for the other 3 bikes. I'll pop them on tonight.
