newbie here, bought my first mountain bike today. Giant Yukon 3, thanks to a certain forum poster for pointing it out. I was looking to go budget hardtail but just couldn't resist the bike after reading so many good reviews of it.

£310 all in from pauls cycles.

I guess it'll be upgradeitis from here then. If anyones got advice on the bike or whatever let me know, cheers.

    Lee.
Consequences.... are just a harmless by-product of having a good time, all the time.

    Highly recommended.

The material is soft (cotton like) and breathable, far better than the usual shiny material that makes you sweat even more than you normally do :?

This is definitely my last short/sleeve I'm going to buy this year

    Well what I did:

Go to bikehike.co.uk and input your route, then save it, and get a URL for it

Then click the 'Show Elevation Data' box, and take a screen capture

Edit the screen-capture down in your fave image-editing software to just show the elevation graph

Upload it to your chosen image host, and get the URL

Then add the following into your sig in your profile, changing the { } for [ ] and **** for the ID in your saved bikehike URL :)

    {url=http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=****}{img}http://yourimage.url/here.jpg{/img}{/url}

(It's possibly more useful if you include the scale on the graph image, unlike wot I did! But people can find out the real details if they click the image.)

    Oh me likey!

It's feet, and kilometres, in mine anyway! Jash's commute is pretty long... :)

Not my commute, my favourite training ride!

Supposed to be miles and feet, but looks like km and metres to me. Toggling between KM and M makes no change to the graph in bikehike.

I chose to do my commute along the Fulham Road rather than Kings Road as otherwise we're going to have a whole lot of familiar-looking graphs...

That's metres! Blimey, never knew it was so hilly around there... Makes mine look piddly :D

And how in hell are you cycling below sea level?!

Also - that's a round trip out into the country isn't it... rather than a commute...

Holy crap man is that HR data correct for the HOTA ride? if so how the hell did it drop as low as 33bpm and only peaked at 168

I think the 33 is a data anomaly, probably around the time I crashed. I wasn't eyeballs out on HOTA, though. A bit steady, eddie on the climbs. Did have a bit of a blast (as much as my wrist would allow) up the lanes in the last few miles, climbing Pantani style on the drops. Fun

Tiz true the weather very much dictated the pace that day, perhaps we should arrange an SCR summer HOTA

Bike shops (and internet) are fighting over each other to get a decent market share of the customers.

There's been a massive increase in cycle buying public over the past year, we may see some casualties but many bike shops will profit, as will we :)

So does this mean you're going to go commando under your shorts now that you have more than one pair?! (Not that I really want to know, it just seemed to be a bit of a bone of contention a week or so back... )

    haha, no actually :P

I'm quite comfortable, it turned out the discomfort was indeed from the saddle. The current one is much nicer :D

On longer rides, I may consider it. Maybe. Not yet!

I know, I think I was inspired to go to the EBC by your post! Didn't plan to buy the same things as you though - had meant to get a new saddle (the Toupe on my Roubaix is less than comfy sometimes, though I think it may in part be because of my shorts) but the one I wanted looked used and a bit grubby for some reason. Liked the look of the Propero, tried it on and, amazingly (first time ever for a Spec), it fitted nicely so I got it to replace my elderly Giro.

Think I may be turning into a bit of a tart though - the helmet, cage and top all go with the colour scheme of my 2007 Roubaix Expert! Still have some way to catch up with Jask though...
