The chain cleaner is for the mtn bike. The road bike chain gets licked by well lubricated kittens.
Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

    Felt F55 - 2007
    Specialized Singlecross - 2008

    That's more like it.

I use holy water and a portion of the Turin Shroud.

I've been to a bike shop and ordered a fixed.....dunno what it's going to cost yet......fortunately CTW will cover most of the cost. Alloy frame, similar to a Pearson, bright red, carbon forks, with hand built CXP33's, Ritchey Pro finishing kit, guards and Conti All Season tyres.....4-5 weeks to get the frame in stock...

Also took in an old pair of tubular race wheels, and having the minty mint Dura Ace 7402 hubs built into some CXP33's....these will go on the best bike

some phil wood spacers for a 110 frame rather than the 120's I have now.... damn they're tough to pick up.

    Fossy... tubs??? on the road?

The old rims were Wolber Profil 18's - used them for TT'ing until I got HED JETS. I'm having the hubs rebuilt into CXP33, which are clinchers so I can put the current Ksyriums on the training bike, and the new wheels back on my classic best bike.

Only thing is the LBS won't do radial on the front, unless I signed a disclaimer (i.e. they can crack hubs) - so went for conventional lacing for bomb proofness.

Another wheel rebuild from the ever-reliable Helmut Berns at Sonic Cycles; 32h Hope front (my own from an old wheel) on the hugely under-rated Mach 1 CFX shallow-V rim. Nothing fancy, 3x d/b stainless lacing as it's for a cyclo-cross bike.
Incredibly quick turnaround on the build, and a lovely wheel. :)

  • Just bought some Contour Plus DiMarchi gear from Cyclestore. Up to 50% off. I've been using their bib tights over the winter months & they seem like good mid range gear to me.

My saddles are here, they're the '09 ones not the '08 I ordered... do I complain? I did order from that site specifically because they advertised the '08... :?

    Shimano XT pedals.

Assos arm and knee warmers. Does anyone else have the arm warmers? I got the largest ones they do, and they're still pretty tight. Must just be my enormous biceps... :D

    Conti trainer tyre.

Montane Featherlite Velo jacket, on the recommendation of many on this forum. Seems pretty good, though I haven't had a chance to use it yet. It should come with a health warning on it though - just trying it on in the shop caused me to get a massive electric shock from the static build-up! :D

Just bought a Helly Hansen base layer, it's pretty snazzy; it's black with black and white piping down the arm and red stitching. Shame no one's ever gonna see it because as it's a base layer I'll usually be wearing it under something! At least i'll know it's there. Also bought a pair of Altura pants for 20 quid... seems a little overpriced!

  • Bought the Felt Compulsion Mint Sauce SE about two months ago. I got it off t'internet very reluctantly but came in one peice with no probs, it had 40% off marked price so got it for just under £900 thought it was a bargain and in my price bracket. Would normally buy from a shop but at that price with the kit it was too good to resist. The bike is awesome, no complaints whatsoever!!!!!!!! Only problem I found after reading the manual is the warranty is void with Felt if you buy from the web. Luckily found a willing shop to help out if things go wrong. I dare say other manufacturers apply the same policy. Love my bike, makes getting lost in the wilderness worthwhile.

Wanted something waterproof & hopefully will keep my back a bit cooler than my current, generic backpack.

Really thinking of getting rid of the car... hmmm.

Snellgrove, what type bag is that? I'm getting a bit fed up that my only sweaty bits these days is my back suffering under a Crumpler laptop bag. Does that one have a laptop slot for example? [edit] Found it was the Ortlieb velocity and you can buy laptop inserts for it, please tell me how you get on with it.

I guess I could mention I bought a Lezyne saddle bag large. Which is ace because on the days I don't want to carry my laptop home from work I can fit my glasses, mobile and bike lock in it, as well as a multitool and repair kit.

Yup, it's an Ortlieb Velocity. The price is a bit  but a little bit more luxury on the commute is worthwhile I suppose. It's now been shipped!! Will let you know how I get on.

I bought it on the strength of a review - it's here if you fancy a read.

I don't believe a manufacturer can absolve itself of its requirements to supply goods fit for purpose by use of small print. You will have consumer rights even if they aren't as great as those of the standard warranty. So, if the bike does break through no fault of your own, you should still be able to go to Felt (and not let yourself get fobbed off).

Okay do, if I bought something like that my riding friends would disown me. Okay, I'm tempted.

Where a warranty falls below the levels of consumer protection provided under law, its irrelevant. Your contract will be with the vendor in the UK. For the frist 6 months, the burden of proof lies with the vendor to show that any alledged defects are NOT present. Thereafter, its the other way around.
Its the vendor's problem to deal with the manufacturer after that.

I know this because I've just had to argue extensively with various people about an off road wheel which disintegrated after about 2 months of use on road. Grr.
