    That's a lot of money for a tyre. I couldn't do it.

New Conti GP4000 in white. Well, thinking about it. £45 each though.... :?

I ordered these and then cancelled them. They're not the S version so not worth the money IMHO, the 4000S' are far better than the 4000's.

The other thing I got was a 2XU compression base layer:

It's really comfy and warm, and just refuses to smell! Doesn't stay clean for long as I got a white one. The only real down-side is that it has to be washed at 20 degrees or less, so it's difficult to fit it in with a light-load of other stuff, so I sometimes just hand-wash it. Luckily, it doesn't need doing too often, as I said above - it really doesn't smell. Not sure why not??

Are you not familiar with the "contractor's wash"? I have the 2XU compression shorts for circuit training and running and such, simply have a shower whilst wearing them, hey presto, a clean pair of pants!

But if you think it logically, they are really good value.
    Much safer than black ones.
They don't get as many punctures.
You will travel 12% faster for the same effort.
You'd never get your bike mixed up with someone elses.
    And they're white.
    All over.

The 4000S only come in black - the (improved) rubber compound can't be coloured. I doubt they'd stay white for long anyway, my red ones don't stay red for long for chrissakes!

Agreed GP4000 tyres aren't worth £45, I only got mine for the colour - they are nice and fast in the dry but pretty scary in the wet...

CJCP - how come you have 4 reflectors on the front wheel and 1 on the back? I guess that if they haven't seen you by the time the rear wheel comes into view, then they are either going to miss or hit you anyway! I only have one wheel reflector in each wheel, but the back one broke off. I should replace it really.

Ah, yes, that picture's about a year old. The location of the reflectors was decided largely by my three year old daughter (on the basis that I didn't think they would make a blind bit of difference anyway  ).

The Open Pros are no more - due to an exploding rear rim - and I have since put reflective tape on the seat stays, the head tube and on the top tube near the head tube.

Note to self: update the picture.

I think it's long over due that we start putting together some SCR maintenance courses, I can pretty much do everything apart from truing wheels, i'm sure between us all we could offer a great new to cycling intro to intimidate maintenance course.

    Anyone?
