When my ride was over I as usual hot and red faced, I began to put the bike in the garage when I noticed drips on the floor which was odd as it's bone dry today, it was then I realised the drips were coming from my sleeves, ever drop of sweat had collected inside the jacket.

I believe this is called "boil in the bag" :D

In conclusion for the money it's a good jacket for short or very leisurely journeys, if you normally work up a sweat on your ride then give this one a miss.

:D:D:D Next time, paint a bin bag red.

So you've seen my summer range then

New chainset (cheapy Truvativ from CRC), some cheap baggy shorts from Ribble, possibly a new BB. Then I may buy some gear levers. I'm building a bike by stealth...

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Jash, the fact I could sell the bars if I need to is the key here in cost terms at least. I don't intend to dismantle it straight away - I'll ride it for a while as is and see how it all feels - but the bullhorns idea is there in case I decide the current setup isn't for me. I've always fancied bullhorns :)

I was going to ask WTF are these. But I see from the url. Knee warmers.

If your knees get cold, dearie, try using a blanket.

  • Noooooooo! My money somehow found its way into the bike shop!

Just ordered a Trek 1.2 double, though it would appear Trek are out of stock, so I won't get it until about the 16th of March. Shop's chucking in some SPD peddles for free, and giving me a nice discount on a pair of shoes. Also picked up a pair of Endura Hummvee 3/4 shorts for £39, quite pleased with those.

Looking forward to the bike, but it means I have to keep using the bus for the next 2 weeks. Bugger :?

Some more black Assos shorts (apparantly the ones I've got are starting to wear out) and some Endura Knee warmers - some of the days recently have felt a bit cold for just shorts but I've been a bit too warm in full tights

Camelbaks are the business for off-road riding, since you tend to get nice flat straight sections where you can remove a hand from the bars to drink from a bottle.

I use a three litre DaKine pack, and keep a bottle of energy drink attached to the bike for when I stop to eat something.

I do stick to bottles on the road, though.

    At the front.....

Carbon fork, carbon wrap bars, stem, grips and matching bar ends. Knocked nearly half a kilo off and, more importantly, a lot of the buzz from the old Ali aero fork

    100_1998.jpg

    At the rear....

WTB Laser V SLT seat and U.S.E. XCR shockpost.

    100_2019.jpg

With any luck, that should keep me on road and trail for another year. Beyond that I think the wheels are going to finally give in to their fiesta related injury.

2 x Hope Vision 1's ...now the days are getting lighter :?

Pulled off my 2 x Cateye 510's and Tesco 3w AA a few weeks back, and shoved on 2 x Tesco C Cells - one of the torches decided to try a spot of spontaneous combustion today....whilst swiched off...what's that burning....fortunately I was in the office. The torch body was red hot......

So fed up with weedy lights, got the 2009 version of the Hopes - 240 lumens in each - one will be on flashy though.....

Weeellllllll... It's a replacement for the rubbish roadie, which is far too big for me (see the workshop thread).

It's going to be a pub bike, to be kept in Essex and also used to go into town and do shopping etc, where I'd have used the rubbish roadie before. It's getting a pannier rack...

And I'm riding it until the Viner arrives. It also may come to Australia with me.

And yeah, I'm trying to save the country. The rest of you could try harder, you know ;)

I do like the Aero seatpost, and are those Record bottle cages?

Ah ha, you're cracking aren't you... I love it. All this talk of Viner's and piccies of Cervelo's, Pinarello's and new wheels has you drooling with anticipation.

    Suits you sir.

Of course they are! At £97 per cage (bottle included) why doesn't everyone have Record cages? :D

Actually, no. They're ebay knock off copies. 15 g each. Search ebay for "carbon cage 15g" and you should find them. Quite reasonable.

On the "Pimp My RIde" front, obviously I could go the whole hog: white Hudz, white bar tape, white (FSA) stem, white saddle. But bearing in mind that bike cleaning is not high on my list of things that I want to do at the weekend, and this one is going to be taking some abuse, perhaps not

LiT - It all becomes clear now :D

Gregg66 - where is bike 3? You are letting the side down with this 2 bike limit. (very nice bikes mind)

ITB - keeping those fingers crossed because I want to see you triple G66 (how close to the number of the beast does that look? Coincidence?) bike tally.
