    track wheelset
    single-speed cranks

After a year festering in the back of the shed, Project Fixie takes a step forwards :-)

    Add:
    rim tape
    ss chain

about to order: some tyres - in blue to match the frame :-)

still need: seatpost, brake pads, BB once I figure out what length I need to get the chainline right

Any thoughts of this being a cheap project have gone right out the window, I could have bought a new bike for less !

    Not for commuting, though

Ooooh - I am considering the same (slightly different colour scheme though) - did you find a good deal or was it more of a planned purchase?
Been wanting some for ages. However, I had some Giro Haviks and some Oakley Juliets so couldn't really justify it. Well, I gave myself a talking to and bought them anyway!

Actually, the Haviks have scratches across the lens from my left-hook and the Juliets, while lovely, are more a generic sport set of glasses rather than cycling specific. I find the frame limits visibility when shoulder-checking. I'm hoping the hydrophobic lenses of the Radars work as advertised: it's going to be sweaty on the marmotte ;)

I've looked around several times for the best prices but this time I was lazy and just did a search on amazon

Cool - I'm in a similar spot - I have a pair of Half-Jackets with 4 or 5 sets of lenses but the coverage when on the bike is just a little off. Plus they don't do vented lenses for the halfjackets, so I often find a can steam up the lenses on tough climbs and early mornings,

So, I have been considering some of the Radars but can't quite find the cojones to pay the RRP at the moment!!

Best of luck in the Marmotte, although having seen the speed you went past me on HOTA, I imagine you will be just fine!!

I've got flack jackets and I find that as long as I'm moving they don't steam up (and I'm highly prone to overheating). The hydrophobic coating works well for both rain on the outside and sweat dripping on the inside.

Yeah I would agree - mine are fine when moving and are good at getting rid of rain/big sweat droplets, but they are not so good at dealing with fine "condensation" style fogging - as it goes, I don't move that quickly uphill  and the endless stopping at traffic lights on the commute offer plenty of time for some misting up.

It doesn't last long, so is not a major issue, but I figure that vented lenses will just allow a little more airflow to the eyebrow area where I have most of my problems.

Tonight one of the MAD stunt team riders asked if I had a pump to borrow him, no problem I said, I put my hand in my pannier and pulled out a pump, both side of the head had it's bits missing  , I found the bits at the bottom of the pannier , could I put it back together to make it work ..... could I **** , hence this

i've finally got a new wheel for the commute hack, the rim was badly worn and hub was badly worn so it was catching.....

the wheel is cheap solid stuff but study enough.

Funnily enough, just got my new rear for my commuter (the Cadenza) today. Somewhat more expensive (DT Swiss rim, Shimano 5700 hub, handbuilt- and as much as my Fulcrum 5s cost) but should last a long time. Runs very nicely, unsurprisingly :)

Just got a 1" threaded headset (black), bidding on the cranks as we speak and trying to snag some bad tape. then I am pretty much ready to put the build together (when I get the front wheel)

Going to get a SRAM APEX front brake for my bike. just got some Vittoria Rubino Pro3's on ebay. I am amazed by the bargains I have got so far :D

Some Swiss stop green pads, giving them a try as the kool stops aren't as good in the wet as I'd like. If this doesn't work it's new calipers time.

And a sean kelly cotton cap from prendas £4 bargain and keeps the rain off my face.
