Quite damp this morning with a full on headwind - managed to scalp a guy on a drop bar SS - definately not the weather for skinny tyre and no gears
Hydraulic discs, Racing Ralph tyres and mudguards - winter do your worst0 -

This was one reason I bailed onto PT this morning. Mitcham and Tooting do not 'welcome careful drivers', and I just don't need that kind of nonsense to start my week.

Shorts + Sealskinz = fail
Thought I would try out my nice new Sealskinz this morning as it seemed the right sort of weather for it, so left the house all nice and toastie - waterproof 3/4 shorts, waterproof jacket & waterproof gloves - and headed for town.
New Cross & they start to take in water - obviously as it cascaded down my legs and into the tops of the socks. Over the next couple of miles, they slowly fill up :? such that when I got to work and changed, I was able to wring out quite a bit of water - cupful!
I was hoping not to have to wear waterproof trousers as it ends up like a sauna inside1997 Gary Fisher Big Sur

I missed the heavy rain on way in but I'm going to be suffering from this on the way home I think.
as someone suggested on here the other week maybe gaffa tape around the top of the sealskinz is the way forward.Hat + Beard0 -

Oh & reluctant chapeau to the guy on the bike begining with C and a long Italian like name. Out dragged him at the Tescos lights but had to negotiate buses on the last lights before Lidl and was just accelerating again when (still was doing 24mph) when he came breezing past  I had no response but I reckon he'd RLJ'd as I went through the lights on the orange just before they changed...1997 Gary Fisher Big Sur

Now I may be stupid enough to still be wearing shorts in this weather but I'm not so totally daft as to want to have to give myself a waxing on my (admitedly not too) hairy legs every time it rains :shock:1997 Gary Fisher Big Sur

Friday was an awesome ride in with fresh legs, averaged 18.7mph and probably could have broken 28 mins for the ride if I'd have been paying attention.
This morning was a little different. After 64 miles yesterday I was looking forwards to a wind assisted ride in but instead got battered by headwinds from the second I stepped out of the door. Oh, and I think there was a smattering of rain tooFCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -

By virtue of there being a big F*** off depression sitting over the Irish Sea/Wales. Interesting conditions ion the Brecon Beacons right now I'd guess.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

It's really calm down here right now as well - can't see a single leaf blowing in the wind, the sun has come out, the ground is drying...FCN 2 to 80

Wasn't much fun this morning - still more fun than PT though....
Really? I sometimes wonder what constitutes PT for you guys?
RP at 7 this morning was hell on a bike and I would have gladly hopped on a warm, cosy train.
Had a bit of tit for tat with a Pearson down Embankment. But he was in shorts + white mitts and looked pretty dry so I figured he was on a short run. Wasn't gutted when he turned off just before Blackfriars tunnel.0 -

I only say that because the last time I decided to take PT due to bad weather (heavy wind) a tree blew over near Waterloo. The resulting chaos meant that there was one train going my way at rush hour. The result was so ghastly I've never contemplated risking PT due to bad weather - the bike is so much more reliable! Much as I didn't particularly enjoy the ride this morning I stand by what I said!
Even on a good day I hate PT. The crowds, the queues, the pushing, barging, lack of consideration - not to mention the cost....0 -
Not sure what happened with the weather today - epic tailwind on the way to work, totally calm and still on the way home... WIN! Totally scalped a couple of ninja hipsters on fixies on the way home, went passed and intentionally slowed so they could catch up a bit, then put the hammer down and totally left them for dead  There's not a lot of SCR around here so I have to make my own fun :PFCN 2 to 80

Started slow but by the time I hit Embankment I had a full posse of wind ponies behind me. Didn't stop 3 roadies coming past me though. I tried to respond but the legs had nothing to give after yesterday's ride out to Reigate and Caterham. Chased them anyway and kept catching them at the lights but no real joy.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

Not sure if it was a little fettling over the weekend, a lack of headwind, no rain or fresh legs but it was a very pleasant ride in this morning. No SCR to speak of but sailed in.0

I was punished heavily by the cycling gods for deigning to get on PT this morning. not one person got off at greenwich (usually at least 8 people do) so the 6 people waiting at the door (inc myself) had to squeeze into a 2 person gap. all this after a news report this morning saying that overcrowding is due to only get worse (by about 20%) in the next few years.
