No contest for that flash carbon commuter you have yourself there.. Especially with my embarrassingly low (stock may I add) 69 inch gear ratio..
Might have to bring the road bike out next week to save face down milbank..
Given what you managed to do with that gear ratio, I fear I may be schooled... Will rest the legs over the weekend.0 -

why thank you sir, twas I.
and you were.... *checks pic* ..red sigma... black tights, kingston wheelers shorts ?
it was the toasty warm feet that did it (that and the energy I saved taking a cheeky friday tow from a scooter along millbank!)0 -

Heh heh. That's me.
I have the same overshoes - very nice, but watch the wear on the neoprene under the toes.
Anyway, back OT, I saw that cheeky tow. I thought, "Ooo, you cheeky devil" and decided to give chase. Had to ramp it up to 32mph to get to the point when you checked back and saw my shadowFCN 2-4.

funny isn't it how you can feel someone on your shoulder!
I wasn't really expecting anyone to have made the gap as I didn't think anyone had caught the tow with me, good work on catching up though, doubt I'd have managed that on friday legs0 -

Yes, well, I would rather have not done that on a Friday, but felt obliged to respond when you took that tow
Pretty sure I've seen you a couple of times before. Will say "hi" next time.FCN 2-4.

Fun with cars this morning.
Took back some karma by scalping a white van on HSK. Hoorah.
In Hyde Park ... the same Merc seems to overtake me at the same traffic-island-pinch-point every day. Decided today that would not happen. Heard an engine behind me, so pulled out, fixed my attention on the car in front and absolutely buried myself, pretending to be Cancellera. Fair old drag there with headwind, legs burning like hell at 23mph, and wondering how TT-ers keep that pace for 10 miles. Engine sound subsided - mercifully - as did my power level.
In less good news, a cyclist crossed the road in front of me as if to go the same way, completely ignoring my approach. He received a hearty "LOOK OUT!", and to be fair he did apologise, but didn't seem particularly bothered
Toasty in my buff today, prefer it best in 'old woman' configuration - under the chin and over the head. Look like a complete prat though.Souped-Up Trek Hybrid ( Clipless & Skinnies - FCN 6 )

SCR drops to page two
Has the cold weather dropped numbers that badly :?0 -
Not much about this evening. Looks like some folks have now switched to the train for the next six months...FCN 2-4.

Three days off the bike, looking forward to tomorrow morning! Will be aiming to hit NKR at 7:300

7:30? In the morning? *shakes head*
Keeping your tyres pumped up make it easier you know. Must do that.
Was properly tested this morning on the DSC and millbank by not one but two. Ended up honours even and I felt humbled. Where has all my fitness gone?
This evening was betterer0 -

I have good reason: there's no coffee in the house, but there's a coffee shop next to work. OTBE, if I leave earlier, I'll get the coffee earlier.FCN 2-4.

Way too much SCR action along Walworth Road this evening. Sadly, most of the contestants saw fit to set off from the lights before they'd turned green.
Catching them up, then blowing them out of the water on the ascent of Denmark Hill was fun. But alas, every yin has its yang. Meant I was in no fit state to tackle the College Hill challenge, a fact backed up by having to stop for ages while pedestrians crossed the zebra just outside the station. Mental note to self: try not to arrive there at the same time of the train.
Tried to get back into it, but my heart wasn't in it. Even seeing someone's tail light didn't give me the impetus I needed and I was roundly scalped by some bloke on a SS a mere 10 yards from the top. Now that gave me the hurry up, but it was too late - he had me.
From this I deduce four days off the bike is no good for me.0 -
If you get scalped by someone at 2215 andd they have no lights, does it count or are they in breach of the rule about not riding like a c0ck?Rules are for fools.0

Bit nippy this morning but still in shorts. Had a good run in this morning until TBR which was solid but at least the sun was shining
This evening, I left at an earlier time so I got to TB about 18:00. This meant there was loads of cyclists around but it wasn't until I got onto the OKR that action arrived in the form of a large bloke on a racer who went past me pretty quick (did he get the speed from the flyover?) so I gave chase and to be fair to the bloke he was rapid. Past the firestation and he gets jammed in traffic and I get the lead and kept it all the way to nearly Peckham Park Road but no, he's an RLJ and off he goes. I was able to catch him up some but going the wrong side around traffic islands is not healthy, so I don't do it and by the time I got to New Cross, he had jumped the next set and was nowhere to be seen.
What was to be seen was a chap on a blue Ribble with black mudguards, who was going a tad slower but still respectable like. At this point I was a bit bushed so was happy to cruise alongside and run interference for him - he was quite cautious with good safety checks, whereas I had already checked and had moved over to cover where he wanted to go. He was headed my way! That meant the little "no hill" of Amersham Road, to which he set off up in a sprightly fashion. It was all I could do to keep my distance, my legs were not happy! Keep with him just on his 6 all the way to the big downhill section on Lewisham Way but crikey, was I pleased when he went to start turning right 1/2 way down the hill - the thought of having to keep up that pace through Loampit Vale and beyond was not appealing! A cheery goodbye to each other and I was able to back off a bit - phew!
At last some SCR on my commuting but I need to buck up my ideas a bit as I feel I have been easing off a bit through complacency - perhaps a week on the Gary will help me MTFU1997 Gary Fisher Big Sur

I collected a big shoal at Big Ben and another at VB lights. Both times I watched them amass; both times I moved through them with grace and in silence, slicing into them so swiftly and calmly that they had not realised their fate until long after they had been left lying, bleeding, on the roadside.
Where's the fun In that?0 -

Very quiet week so far. One quick guy on Battaglin Fixed who kept 25mph down embankment, otherwise a lonely ride in.0

There was an impressive sunrise as I blazed east along the Embankment this morning, enough scalps adorning my steed to make it look like a grotesque, horrifying SRAM hobbyhorse.
As I was stopped at a red light on Parliament Square, my victims all caught up with me like a peloton of hungry ghosts and jumped it en masse. Bad play Embankment was quiet after that...
Spotted a fast chap on what looked like a vintage Coppi though, nice bike! Anyone on here?0 -

Looked out for you, but didn't spot you. I hit NKR from Putney Bridge just after 7.35.

Wasn't much in it though, I must have been just a few minutes behind you. Will keep an eye out for a red Sigma in future.0 -
Just back to work after a catching a nasty stomach bug off the littl'un (remarkably good at spreading germs, children) and still feeling a bit wobbly, so got the train into Waterloo, then pootled across town on the Dahon. Still managed a couple of hybrid and MTB scalps who were pootling even slower than me, but feeling very delicate still.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Must have shaken off last night's torpor. I was so fast this morning, the rain couldn't bring itself to fall on me; rather it stood to one side to let me past while simultaneously admiring the spectacle. If the rain holds off, I think the PB on College Road will be threatened. Assuming I don't get too carried away SCRing along the Walworth Road again.0

No traffic this morning (except on Anerley Hill, yuck). No competition either but that’s par for the course. Lovely ride in . . .
I may well try College Road this evening too , providing I can bring myself to pootle the first 15miles. I always say that and I never do . . .0 -
Denied massively this morning
The Embankment run had been good, I was feeling great, a few scalps collected (you know who you are Mr Aero Bars,Mr White SS and the roadie wearing what looked like cut up pyjama bottoms over his tights). We all re-grouped at VB witing for the lights with a few other likely targets already there and more arriving afterwards, all eager to challenge the might of Wrath Rob.
Lights go green and I'm on my pedals, perfect clip in, first stroke and I hear a "snap" and feel a tug on my shorts. WTF? Glancing down I see that my bottle cage pump is missing. Nothing for it but to bail out of SCR and wait for a gap in the traffic to retrieve it, thankfully undamaged.
Duly enraged at missing out on so many scalps I set off in a cloud of awesome and managed to catch a couple of them before Embankment before getting into a battle with a older guy on a brown road bike (yuk) who was spinning north of 120rpm. He got past me before he turned off for Blackfiars. Chapeau!FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0
