@Asprilla - well, I might be at Blackfriars by 5.45-5.50...

Should be at the Park by 6.30-40 to do an extra lap. I enter at Roehampton Gate and will be going clockwise.

Now, I have a meeting in Wick (small village between Bristol and Bath) at 11am tomorrow, so do I cycle up to Paddingtpn, bike on the train down to Bath, then up over the top of Lansdowne Hill? Are a shed full of sheet metal workers ready for full lycra I wonder? or  - can't decide which. Also, the weather doesn't look too great, so it might be soggy dirt-splattered lycra.

My contract says 7 hours a day so that's 8.30 to 4.30 if I take a hour for lunch. Home by 5.30, shower and then open wine at 5.33.

went to the pub on friday night and someone had their cyclehire key thingy with them so i took a boris bike out whilst mildly lubricated.

perfected my heavy bike bunny hopping skillz and then lurked on the embankment for a victim. cycl;e courier whizzed past me, i gave it the beans and ruined him. i swiftly took the next left so he couldn't retake. he is now presumably fired from his jobn and ostracised from the brotherhood of messengers for being scalped by a boris.

i then got told off by the police for riding on the pavement - i was cycling from the edge of the road to the bike stand. less than 2 metres. grr...

    verdict: boris bikes are awesome.

Further to this (maybe a question for Roastie or any other Bath-based forumites), what are my chances of covering the 6.6miles and big hill from Bath Spa station to Wick in the 37 minutes between the train arriving and the start of the meeting? Possible, I'm sure, but turning up dripping with sweat and gasping my lungs up might be a bit much to inflict on non-cyclists.

So you're on a bike that will make it up Broomfield then?! I think I've sorted out my creaking (either that or my ipod was up too loud this morning). May well be tempted in to some anti clockwise monkey hunting in the park later.

  • Richmound Park was quite empty at just past 9am no other roadies to be found.

Brookfield is fun for annoying TTers by swooping past and seeing if you can hold them off before darkhill.

It isn't a great forecast for tomorrow round here. :(

That's a pretty tough ride you would be letting yourself in for. That is one of the steeper hills around the city (not quite the steepest) and then you get to descend into Wick which means climbing back out the other way at the end of the day. If you are seriously considering cycling it might be easier to get from Bristol Temple Meads to Wick and back. It would certainly be flatter.

Hmm, just checked and it's an extra 3-4 miles from BTM or BPW, so I think it'll have to be Bath Spa. I'll reassess the weather tomorrow morning - I know I can handle that hill as I used to ride it on an old 10-speed now and then when I lived near Bristol, but against the clock and with a wet descent the other side, discretion (a taxi) might be the better part of valour. Thanks for the suggestion all the same.

or jjst take some shower gel and perform some sort of sponge bath type affair on the wet descent.

On Second thoughts a Taxi is probably better.

It's so crazy it might just work

(You have ridden Lansdowne, have you? about 130m height gain in 1 mile with some tight bends on one side, or 190m in 1.6miles on the other side, straight but finishes in central Bath with lots of traffic.)

    I am still tempted though.

  • Hi all

Havent posted in ages but waiting for a boardman cx as I have moved into the sticks and wanted to share a scalp from legend.

Moved into sticks, cr@p roads so sold road bike and am currently 'in between bikes' which is like going downstairs in a morning to find a child missing. So I have borrowed a big heavy MTB on slicks. Took the iron horse out the other day on a bike path to work and sighted a hybrid between hull and beverley. I tell you, reeling him in from 100 yards took 2 miles on that beast and I went by him with so much inner triumph I might have taken off like ET.

Made it stick, took the scalp and loved being part of the game after being at FCN4 for ages and getting hammered by everyone.

Okay so what happened there... Didn't get caught by smarty pants but also never saw CJ coming the other way! As it were.

Good ride though - some rather tasty bikes in the park.

Pretty sure I saw you going Clockwise round Richmond Park, at the top of that hill after Kingston Gate? I must have been just ahead/behind you....

Btw, is the really tall, bald chap with Cervelo kit on a blue and white road bike (trek?) on here?
