Both of those guys are really nice (Ridley rider and Trek man).
Here's some film of Trek man powering away from the lights at Stockwell (he has his yellow hump too):

That's him!!!!!
How did he get in front of you again?
How have we never crossed paths?
You appear to be fairly awesome too!
If you watch the vid at 2.27/8 he uses the right filter lane and passes me at Oval tube.
I have seen CitizenSmith and Bassjunkieuk on my commute, but I'm not sure if our paths have crossed. I usually hit Tooting Bec at 8ish. What bike do you ride?0 -
Nice ride home last night, had new wheel for my FG project strapped to my back so (and I don't know why I even bother) I planned to have a little pootle.
Anyway 5 mins in and pulling away from a set of lights on Jamaica road a white SS gives it some and shoots off - game on!
I catch and pass him at one point but he picks up the pace and comes straight back past me then with a little RLJing I have to let him go. Anyway usual story 5mins later what do I see in the distance be the same SS, I'm now running at my usual cruising pace of 22mph and reel him in quickly, maybe because I'd had a few sherberts that afternoon I give it a cheeky "come on fella!" as I go past and to his credit he hops on my wheel and we hold a good pace through to Greenwich.
Had a quick chat on the way through the park about gear ratios (my new build will be 67inches) then he tows me up the hill at a very respectable speed, chapeau sir!0 -

What you on so I can keep an eye out?
I'm hurt that you've forgotten me already. I'm the the SS guy you mention below:It seems this leaving a bit earlier malarky is throwing me onto the Drag Strip along with a bunch of other rather quick riders!
Last nights was a man mountain on a single speed and a chap on a Bianchi. It was SS guy that had me first, I managed to hold my own at the first few sets of lights away from Stockwell tube but by the time we got to Clapham Common his slight lead meant he got pulled out a longer lead due to some very nice filtering at one point. I tried to re-catch him but could only manage to keep the gap roughly equal past Clapham Common despite nudging mid-20's
At the set of lights on the other side I realized the guy had huge and rather strong looking legs, which might have explained his rapid acceleration.......

@Origamist - Ah OK :-) Will have to check your vids later as the 'puter I'm currently on isn't playing nicely with the u-tube and I cba to sort it out......
I notice from that video link tho that you've also been captured on Gaz's camera! Hopefully it was a slightly more pleasant experience then my near miss with a truck!0 -

I'm not sure: I do some tarmac surfing on Gaz's vid when my handlebars snap...0 -

Ouch  Thankfully my handlebar snap happened off camera whilst pulling away from some lights in Camberwell. Still wasn't fun riding E&C with the left side of my handlebars held together by bar tape!0 -

A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -
Had a good ride home last night but ultimately had to concede defeat to a guy on a pistachio Condor Pista with orange wheels and a very, very fast guy in black on a red road bike. The Condor rider and I had a good tussle, with him mostly in the lead (I took the lead occasionally to prove I wasn't a pure drafting fairy) but the guy in black was, to put it simply, in the next league. Away from Chelsea Bridge he held 26mph all the way to Albert while the Condor rider and I gamely hung on. I was glad to swing off onto Lotts Road and let them go their own way.
This morning was much calmer, probably a good thing after hitting the gym last night. I did get a scare in Wandsworth when a guy on a carbon Pinarello TT bike with deep aero rim wheels pulled up to me at a set of lights by Southside. He was slow away from the lights and I think we went separate ways as I didn't see him againFCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -

Bassjunkie struggled to keep up with you.
And
You scalped 'Trek and Yellow', which is impossible.

Regretted playing tag with a guy on a nice looking red / black condor this morning, whilst on the BSO, as he peeled off and I still had 10 miles to go.0

Btw, is the really tall, bald chap with Cervelo kit on a blue and white road bike (trek?) on here?
Gave the saddle sores a day off yesterday and finally remembered to adjust my perch this morning.
Cracked another rim clean through this morning. That’s the second one in a year ffs. Added 10 miles and dropped me firmly in the danger zone when hitting Embankment. Boy was I glad when JG said he was pootling! Lovely morning for an extended commute.0 -

"Powering" is a verb I probably wouldn't have used to describe my crawl up Broomfield You're fast, tried to catch up with you but Parliament -> Putney shenanigans had taken most of the Buzz out of my legs by that time. Plus my FCN is probably triple yours, roll on next month for my new PX, when I'll have less excuses :P
Yep, must have been MM. I saw him cresting Dark Hill with lowered facemask too.
Anyone passing through Blackfriars at about 5:45 this evening? Looking to release some work frustration on the commute home :twisted:0 -
Cheers BJ - dammit, I did think that might have been you as well just as I crested dark hill. You looked at me just that little bit longer than necessary

My ass is in all sorts of bother lately but I'm hoping to put in a lap or two tonight. Will be leaving work late so should hit the tunnel about 5.45...0 -

Will aim to get to the tunnel around then. If not, see you in RP. Will be going c/w.FCN 2-4.

Just moved from somewhere that was all hills (Gloucestershire). Had to go over the highest point in the Cotswolds on my commute to and from work... got rather boring as there were never any scalps to be had!
I think I saw about two or three cyclists on a normal week and most of those were on BSOs near the town I was living in.
I actually can't wait to move to London and get on with some proper SCR (even if I know I'll get my arse whipped)FCN 4 (hairy roadie)

Yup, but unless you've geared up the standard District rear ring is only good for scalping shoppers! (kidding)FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits

Is there such a thing as FCN for a Tesco articulated lorry? Could have scalped one this morning going up Pigsty Hill in Brizzle but it would have meant a nearside pass which is a no-no.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

True, but that's where the Alfine comes into play. Just a push of the thumb for chasing spandex. Stil want to try fixed though.0 -

Just slightly, last experience of SCR in London was a bit of an eye opener (a friend educated me as to why people were flying by). Big race from London Bridge to Canada Water - only to watch some beardy type on a bike effortlessly woosh by at the end.
At the moment (still looking at places to live) it'll be SE1 to Camden/Primrose Hill for work. Not actually planned the route yet, but I have a week or so yet...FCN 4 (hairy roadie)

Man, I had the most awesome ride back from work today. Clear lights all the way through Bayswater (that never happens), and blew past a couple of sets of hybrids making their way down the hill to Shepherds Bush. Then I managed to hitch a ride behind two guys riding abreast (meaning I could stay at a safe distance and still gain wind benefits!) and chatting to each other through Shepherds Bush along Goldhawk Road. Of course, any energy saved being towed along behind them was lost again when I accelerated past them to say thanks before turning right and for home.
Plus it was an absolutely gorgeous sunset. If only every day was like that. I would have beaten my personal best if I hadn't had to slow for the Oxford - London bus (which in itself was slowing to avoid a mildly nodding cyclist).FCN - 10
