That feeling when you've taken a bike in for repairs and it ends up worse than when you took it in

Nearly got left hooked. I could almost understand it if he made a last minute decision to turn left, but his indicator is on as he comes past| GoPro angle makes it look a bit further away than it was, squeaky bum time for me. 10 second clip. Couldn't have stopped if had slowed down more.

Yup bad judgement from the driver... I suspect he/she probably thought you were also going left for some unknown reason.... in built up areas like this , I do tend to ride in primary, if only for the reason to point out to the car waiting that I am going straight on, even tho primary is like baiting wild arsed bears at times, even tho you can be travelling at speeds not too distant from the road limit.

Minor ( possibly Bad loser) rant.
local hospital had a fete with a watt bike donated for 200m sprints, winner gets a garmin edge 510.
First time ever on one, and having had my edge 705 die, I dug deep and cracked out a low 12 second attempt despite being interrupted half way around, which put me well into first place, so didn't bother another attempt.
Checked 5 mins before the end of the comp, loads of attempts and a few close calls, but none within half a second, so walked past.
Walked back 10 mins after the end to find someone had pipped me by 0.2 seconds.
    Swines.
    Still, all for charity
Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Not really a rant, as it made me chuckle a bit.

Was driving back from week in Wales around the M25 between the Junctions 15 and 14 and there's a chap bumbling along one handed on a BSO along the hard shoulder, being followed by a Highways Patrol car with his lights flashing for protection. Chap looked like he didn't have a care in the world and was really going along a canal path.

I'm guessing the patrol guys from the Highways Agency have no power to stop him?

Played 6 a-side last night as I have done nearly every Monday for the last 9 years or so, only this time I went over on my ankle and it's swollen up like a balloon.

No commuting for me this morning :x

Cyclist half way up on my rear wheel on the right - i'm indicating to turn right and he carries on riding there. When I slow down, he slows down.

I ask if he's turning right. "isn't everyone?" he says. I suggest he might want to do the same as me and indicate. I basically come to a halt when my right turn comes to let him past - he carries on straight.

Counterpoint to my anti-rant on the other thread - new bike came with Di2 (never used it before). First road race on it last Saturday - stuck in 53x11 the entire first two laps and spat out the back after not being able to shift at all. Climb off and have a John Cleese moment ranting at it, spend 5 minutes trying to figure it out before binning the race off and stomping back to HQ. Eventually find that the f***ing cables have come out of the junction box, and realise this is entirely my fault after f***ing around with them the night before trying to tidy them up. Well worth getting up at arse fart o clock and getting rained on for two laps...

Was in my kitchen the other day looking out at the road (non-cycling related thigh injury has left me unable to get out on the bike) and I saw a car turn into my road. The turn is very wide and cars tend to take it pretty fast. This woman wasn't actually going particularly fast, but as she drove past I could see that she had her right hand held out in front of her and was actually facetiming with someone as she drove. What is wrong with these people?!

    I know right?

I was driving home at the weekend and the car in front was a bit erratic and then drove into the kerb. As I pulled alongside at the lights I could see he was looking down at his phone. Could easily have driven into a cyclist, pedestrian or other vehicle.

Perhaps I'm just looking for it - but there's loads of people who hold their phones - mostly to their ears - whilst driving...

It's not as though the law wasn't well publisised or that bluetooth kits are expensive ...

Yesterday was a Range Rover - with at least 2 people in the car - with the driver on the phone ... At a rough guess it was a call that he didn't want his passenger(s) to hear the other half of - so didn't use the hands free feature.

Yes, they don't even try to hide the fact. I've seen people drive past police cars at roundabouts while holding their phone to their ear (the police didn't go after him either). There have been HGVs turning right across riders on the local TT, while on the phone.

It's almost as bad when someone phones you when they know you are driving and they know you don't drive while on the phone then rants at you later for not answering.

The fine would never deter people who can afford it (just another cost of driving), but I would've thought 6 points would be a big deterrent.

Or when you suddenly realise part way through a conversation that the eejit you are talking to is driving one handed while trying to transfer the phone to their shoulder so that they can change gear.

My phone - I'll answer it if and when I want to - except if it's the wife that's calling - then there's nothing else in the world more important ... ;)

6 points isn't a deterrant because the chances of being caught are so small. And what does 6 points mean - it's means your insurance costs a bit more for a bit.

IMHO, the vehicle should be confiscated immeadiately and the driver banned from driving for 4 weeks - plus their mobile account(s) suspended for 2 weeks (yes I know there's ways around this). Double that sentence if they're caught anywhere where near a school.

WOW - the quality of cycling on CS2/Mile End road is atrocious. You know the way 1 in 10 of the riders on Embankment are clueless choppers - well the other 9 in 10 are on CS2

Tube today for me as attending a pilates class after work and can't be bothered to cycle back after.

On my way to the tube station and crossing a ped light on green when I see some lady approaching the lights on a hybrid, decent speed and no intention to stop. Intentionally start walking slower and shouted - IT'S A RED LIGHT.

"I can see" is all I got as a response while swerving around me and continuing along.

    C*nt. No shame at all.

I'm not sure what other response people expect. Obviously they know it's a red. Obviously they've chosen to jump it. To point out they're jumping a light and be annoyed when they acknowledge it seems pointless. Carry a stick to poke through the spokes as they pass.
