    <Rant>
A standard rant and one that's been done to death a million times, but clothes sizing. It's (almost) understandable that different brands have different ideas of what an XL is but when you buy the kit from the same supplier and their sizing varies massively then it's very frustrating.

And shoe sizes, jesus, what's the problem there. Just bought a pair of Mavics that I've had to send straight back because they are at least a size smaller than my Northwaves even though they allege that they are the same euro size.

Rant induced by just getting loads of new stuff and having the send it all back to Wiggle.

I'm UK size 10/10.5 in everything, just checked what size my Northwaves are that I've been wearing comfortably for 3 years - UK size 12.

Mavic = adidas = made up tiny narrow sizing

Worried that they might be 2 strong and affect the spoke/speed senor as well, but will see.

Not had an issue myself with rare earth cadence magnets affecting the speed sensor. Given the strength of the RE magent you can move the sensor away from the crank and closer to the spokes with no problems I've found.

Charged my rear light up in work today but left it on charge in the part of the warehouse where I was working at the start of the shift. Hopefully the light is still where I left it, if not I'm going to be more pee'd off about losing the USB plug and cable than the light as the light was only a cheapie from Planet X.

    Stupid Taxi Driver

Goes over two roundabouts playing with his on board computers, first might have been an issue if i was 2 seconds later arriving, passes a police car heading the other way doubt he noticed, enters the second roundabout indicating left and moves to the right hand lane on entering. On exit leaves in the left hand lane from the right hand lane(2 lane exit) no indication well why would you while playing with your computer. As the solid white line starts to deliminate the lanes as they diverge to different directions decides to straddle both for 100m occupying both lanes weaving left and right. Decide to ask if he would like to make his mind which lane he wants and stop being a tit.

Que emergency stop and shouting tirade about how he was leaving me room and it was all my fault for going creating danger and going so slow despite me following behind for half a mile. I honestly think he assumes hes overtaken me and left me plenty of room as there's no other way for me to get there !!

Got overtaken too close when a car was coming the other way. Stayed upright and no contact, but heard a clunk behind me. When I stopped I found that the draft of the car overtaking had pulled the bottom hook off my pannier.

So I have to go to Excel to get all my stuff for Ride London. But it's a huge pain to get there and back during work hours. Kengington so either two tubes + DLR or ride. Either option is probably getting on for a 2 hour round trip. So do I gamble on going after work but not getting the stuff if there are big queues? Going tomorrow is not really a very good option. Why can they not open before 10am??????????

Hmm - not sure I feel for you ...
getting to Excel is a 2hr trip by car for me ... public transport would be longer. Apparently no sensible parking places for a quick stop (£15 for 24hrs is a bit much) ...
Quite why they couldn't post the stuff out for a couple of £ I don't know.

Same as London Marathon I expect, they get money from all the shops.
Living in Greenwich and working in Canary Wharf it's pretty simple for me, but if I lived further out I'd be pissed.

If it's any consolation, I thought the stands were somewhat better this year than the last couple of years.

I mean, I still only bought one of those £5 high-5 sample boxes with a free bottle, but I did eat a lot of free samples and think 'they want how much for a box of these bars? Good luck with that.'

I'm glad I'm not picky what I eat when I'm on a ride...

Stickers. Bloody 3 on my SuperX. Warnings, warnings and more warnings. They're off now. But the residue stubbornly remains. Most of it off. Took ages.

I went last night, no real queues as they've split everyone into blocks depending on your ride number and there's loads of block's.

The free bike show aint bad and most places are selling stuff with a discount, so fair play to them.

If I lived outside london I wouldn't be happy though :)

It's a crappy place to get to but, for RideLondon doesn't affect your health too much. I do find that having to go there for the London Marathon is just the sort of thing you don't really want to do the day before. Bit too much walking

visit from the P fairy, when already running "close to time".
nothing obviously through the tire, looked like the tube had been pinched during install or just didn't like being run as a overpressurised 28 when spec'd to 25.

She visited me on the way home tonight when it was peeing it down so made use of a PF visit shelter, aka bus shelter as a bus passed by as I rode on the softening tube. Had to make use of the shoe dryer tonight as they were drenched.

Had a fairy visit at the weekend - nail in the tyre and luckily not through the wheel!

What pi$$ed me off though was the lack of fellow cyclists asking if all was well. Was on a very popular cycling route up into Northumberland and out of about 20-30 people passing only 2 checked if everything was alright.

Even though I was wasn't one of them in your case, I need to start doing this.....I need to start safely asking if people are OK when I see them on the side of the road and hope they won't think I'm being pompous/sarcastic....
  • Bloody Revolution panniers. The hooks at the bottom get lost really easily, and cost £5 to replace because you have to buy the rail for them as well. Plus the clips that hold the clips that go around the rack at the top in place have started to break. Nothing fallen off yet, but it doesn't feel safe.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Ortlieb here I come.

GF's birthday. She had the bloody cheek to ask for a Garmin Edge 1000. All my Evans vouchers (already earmarked for a complete drivetrain replacement on the Roubaix) gone in one massive hit.

I do always ask but i'm considering not bothering anymore, i stopped to help someone last week, I asked if he was ok, he asked if i had a pump, I did, i was very late so said he'd need to get a wriggle on. first thing he says is " i have a pump like this at home" I resisted the urge to say it's not doing much good there is it. He fannied about for ages, couldn't get his valve to open/work so said he'd have to phone his wife.

If you are out on your bike and don't have what you need if you have a puncture you deserve to walk or make the call of shame!!

I understand that, people who are ill prepared are asking for trouble and extremely lucky is someone stops with a spare and a hand. But it only takes a second to check if someone is alright, hasn't come off their bike or need assistance.

I've come across a pair, one of whom had done his collarbone and you'd have never known it. I've also seen someone alone in a heap who looked like he was in a real bad way, but he'd just pushed himself too hard and was having a breather.

Reversed at 3 times by an old biddy who couldn't find first gear at the traffic lights on a roundabout. Ended up jumping off the bike for safety and so had to wait an extra cycle of the lights. Time to hang the license up me thinks !

She has elderly eyes but can see my Edge 1000 ok... I didn't fancy risking a "I can't see the screen" moment with the smaller screen...

Plus it's just easier to get her the same rather than give a potential cause for differences....

arrrgh, went to Cycle Surgery for a workstand (which has been sat on display for a few months .. typically now I can afford it, its not in stock ... the one day I actually have the car to carry it !!

no worries I'll take a couple of gp4000 tires then ..... £50 each .. WHAT ! .... £50 FFS, ok wiggle it is.

The one day I get the car and don't have to wedge things in my pockets is the one day CS decide not to stock what I want and to charge £20 more per tire than anywhere else .. grrrrrr
