Hope you heal soon Surrey Commuter. Puts my rant in perspective. If there was anyone from here doing laps of RP this morning, and they noticed someone in yellow at the side of the road for quite some time, that was me. Puncture - fine, I have 2 spare tubes. Find offending flint, remove, pump up new tube, break off valve in mini pump, swear, throw wheel to the floor. Put in second tube whilst angry - pump up, fail to notice I hadn't seated the tube properly. Explode second tube. Swear even more. Luckily I have a repair kit. Repair original tube, insert carefully, pump up, ride off home in a massive sulk, having spent longer by the side of the road than on it. Schwalbe one tyres are quick, but they puncture as soon as you look at the fcukers.0

OK it isn't bad compared to proper accidents and the vote - but to compound this annoyance; I bought a replacement from CRC paid the extortionate next day delivery and 48 hours later still not arrived. So ride at weekend will be cancelled - seriously peeved.0 -

I think something's up with CRCs order fulfilment. I've placed two orders in the last two weeks, both times I've received the dispatch notification email with the tracking information quite late in the day (9pm-10pm), then the tracking won't actually update to "collected from customer" until 48 hours later (with an intermediate "order information received" 24 hours after receiving the email).0 -

Yeah - I got the late in the day tracking information as well. I think it might be PO fault tho - been showing as in their system for too long0 -

Seemed to be drive like a wonker night last night; multiple instances of cars misjudging my speed and pulling out in front of me, one overtake where again a misjudgement of speed meant that rather than slow down the car overtook me and a traffic island, another car overtook on a blind hairpin.....was thinking I'll be glad to get home tonight and then I hit something (pothole or debris), causing an immediate deflation of both tyres....of course only one tube in the bag, thankfully the puncture repair kit was still present.0

Both my LBS's have shut down within a month.
Argh. I want to support local businesses, especially when it comes to servicing my bike, but now I can't without going a fair distance out of my wayIntent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Cosham, north of Portsmouth.
The two shops I've used for 7 years have both gone, I'm sure there are others nearby but none I've got experience with. Both were about half a mile out of my route.
Solent cycles has moved to a bigger and better shop in fareham, south downs bikes shut down after a year due to premises issues :-(Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

No worries, anyone else in the area with recommendations gratefully appreciated :-)

Long list:
1 Referendum
2 buyers of our house try to renegotiate price (-120k) two days after the planned exchange
3 if we refuse it then my purchase will fell through
4 wife had her offer accepted on a house: she wanted to revisit the house to see what she can do on her slightly reduced budget. Estate agent calls owner and the person with the second best offer(???   )
5 other person matches our offer and owner accepts his offer (cash buyer)
6 we need to give notice to our landlords if we want to move out a month time: for some reason you can only move out on the first day of the month. If we miss it then mortgage payment for the London house and rent for our landlords needs to be paid while we are having no tenants (moved out because of the planned sale)
Busy week this is0 -

Yeah, I think that's physically the closest now, and I extend the route that way occasionally.
Solentcycles has always done me well, and understand the portchester guys have moved to Fareham so the quality won't have changed.

Local cyclist knocked on car window that was pulled over into a cycle lane.
Put kid behind the window into epileptic fit.
Soo much wrong in the thread about it on Facebook, by some of my work colleagues but I don't want to get involved, but expect a whole pain of anti cyclist rants tomorrow :-(

First time back cycling in London for a while over the weekend and yesterday. Three absolute imbeciles almost pancaked themselves in the approximately one and a quarter hours I spent in central London during that time. Last night coming up Woburn Place was the pick of the bunch - bloke on a fixie weaving in and out of traffic like a bike messenger... but clearly NOT a bike messenger, proven by the shoulder-check AFTER pulling out six inches in front of a motorbike, causing a giant swerve on the part of the (skilled and alert) moto rider and almost sending him into a bus. Looked at me blankly as I pulled up alongside and pointed out the error of his ways. Hat to the motorcyclist for (literally) laughing it off and not parking the bloke up.
Oh - and Virgin double-booked the bike spaces on my scheduled train so I had to wait an hour (rant). At least I had the bike, so was able to do some cheeky RP laps in the sunshine (non-rant).Fat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

Nice-ish ride to Cambridge yesterday. Got soaked at one point, but the main rants are 2 fold:
1) Garmin only recorded 77km of the 130km ride (this happens often with this piece-o-shoite thing)
2) My Oakley prescription glasses (took them off due to the rain), fell off and I heard a crunch as the car behind smashed them to pieces.0 -
I spend ages building a DIY wheel bearing drift on Sunday (aka a block of wood with a hole in it), only to realise that my bleeding cones are ~14mm and my cone spanners bottom out at 15mm. Wheel servicing project deferred another weekend, meaning no new fixie riding for another week <grumble>.0

About 8:45 last night riding south on the New Bridge Street, I meet a car driving head on towards me within the segregated path. Thankfully very few cyclists about so plenty of room to get out of her way. Just :shock:1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

It isn't that obvious at some places. Early Saturday morning I was riding through Tower Hill and there was a line of cars using the bike lane - I mentioned this to them and the second car's driver was totally convinced (not argumentative or angry but sure ) he was in the right place. A bit further on - when the car in front moved off he saw the bicycles painted on the road and waved an apology. Monday morning I re-looked at the entry to the junction and could easily see how the mistake was made - and once one car does it the others follow unless they are certain0 -
Boris Johnson appointed foreign secretary.
Seriously?
We might as well have appointed The Duke of Edinburgh or Nick Griffin. Is Boris honestly the best person we have to represent our country to foreign governments and cultures?
So no, we're not retreating from the world stage, we're just going to change the play into a farce.0 -

It may be, but it's risking the country's reputation on it! Following brexit, I thought it couldn't get that much lower, but then we send in the clowns...0 -

Fecking car door and the stupid passengers / sods who open them whilst driver signalling right and car is in a right turn lane. Magnificent bruise mind - edge of the door into arm and chest; looks like I have had one lash of the whip0
