Wanting lots of small, low value things - replacement mudguard bridges, replacement cadence magnet, replacement helmet pads.
Can I find them from a single source? No chance. Each one wants at least another £3 for delivery.

Newgate Street.
It's CLOSED Westbound.
That means you divert or get off and walk.
Or you could just ride on the pavement?
Or, better still just think "Oh, the road's closed but I can see pretty white lines on the road so I'll just ride into oncoming traffic anyway"....
The road (Including the cycle lane) is closed Westbound, it's not very far but the traffic has to keep over to the right and drive in the CLOSED westbound cycle lane to give Eastbound cyclists enough room.
It's not rocket science.
Oh, and also masses of (I hope) beard hair in the communal sink this morning.
And finally the bloody city 5k or whatever it's called, all the bloody roads to Liverpool st closed but not a runner in sight!0 -
Broke my Knog Ghekko light which has been on my bikes and covered many miles in the last seven years.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Coshama bloody dangerous cyclist contra flow.
No driver's think it exists despite it being there for at least 3 years, so they drive at you.
And the local cycling group appears to have endorsed it.

Rolling upto a traffic queue at a set of lights and a car cuts in on me very deliberately at the last minute and when questioned through the closed window the driver just pointed at the cycle lane that ends 6' after the traffic lights expecting me to use it.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

That is utter madness.
As a driver I would find that very confusing, especially if I was not a local.
That, in my opinion for what it's worth, is neither the driver's or the cyclists fault. It is clearly down to crap planning by the road layout designer!0 -

There's a similar but shorter example in Eastleigh opposite the station. Blue sign clearly shows that cyclists can travel in the opposite direction along this one way section but the buses travelling in the other direction do like to wind their windows down to bemoan all us "bl88dy cyclists ignoring the rules of the road".“Jij bent niet van suiker gemaakt”0 -

Bloody Castelli sizing. Seems L means large in most of their kit (various bibs, jerseys, jackets) which is fine for me, but the odd occasional piece like the Aero Race 5.0 jersey I bought (worn twice) off eBay it turns out L means Leprechaun. About to put it up in the classifieds for what I got it for, but if anyone Chasey-sized or similar wants it PM me."Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"

Trying to get the "PompeyBug" "one City/shared road" team to re-assess the situation - to have that rather than push people 5m further east around with the cars is just stupid. The worse part is that non-local cyclists will probably follow the "cycle path" assuming it to be a good route, when its' the worst possible one.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

I find the L fits me at 5'11" but it does look like it was made for an Action Man when it's not on.0 -
Having previously taken a large Castelli Cross speedsuit off Keyser's hands and found it fit ok then I thought I'd try this.
Am 5'10, 72kg but slightly broader than cyclist build. It's too snug on arms and chest, so back to Keyser it goes
So I reckon if you normally take a medium and are a bit pigeon chested (okay okay - climber rather than sprinter) then it'd fit fine.0 -

Had a wasp sting me last summer and it was still in my helmet when I took it off and 24 hours after the attack my eye swelled up and needed I anti-histamines, luckily nobody heared my girlie scream either.Rick Chasey wrote:Temperature in the carpark where I leave my bike is high enough that the glue on the electrical tape holding my handlebar tape in place has melted.

Realised that since I'd lost my cadence magnet I could probably find where I lost it by working out where it stopped being recorded on the garmin.

If you have a steel frame check your own frame and on brake callipers etc. although I have only heard of that happening with a speed magnet which has a fair bit higher speed when lost0 -

That's a good point, haven't done that, last time I lost the magnet it was on the BB.
Have just gone and checked the bike over, nope not there. Ah well, replacement is due in the next few days, but I just don't like throwing money away.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Get a crank based power meter that includes cadence - no more magnets to replace that'll save you money .... :cough:0 -

:cough: in-bloody-deed. I've been looking at them for ages, but just can't justify the £300 cost over a £3 magnet...
And then to go with the power meter I'd have to upgrade from the 705, so it's actually a £397 to £497 :cough: saving :cough: ....Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.
