Just dawned on me it’s the first time in nearly 3 weeks I haven’t cycled in. Must be a few endorphins down....

Another serious cyclist/van rtc, with the van failing to stop in the new forest.

    Link not working?

Not sure whether it's just me........

    Yeah, sorry about that.
Update: it's on a horrid road, 60 mph + and no cycle lane, left hand bend, van probably overtook, didn't see an oncoming and swerved into cyclist, or a close path and screwed up massively. If the former, probably would have stopped, so assuming the later.

That hit and run is awful.

    Cowardly scum.

Indeed. I've ridden that road a few times at weekends and it's not nice, but during rush hour I can only imagine.

And my morning rant of "a squirrel pushed my bike over, thankfully cheap side down", in comparision, is such a first world problem :(

I too have ridden that road a few times and the traffic is fast. Try to avoid.

The photo is looking north, right? But the van carried on towards Ringwood (which is south)?

Either way, I hope the poor bloke pulls through. :(

The fair weather shared paths cyclists riding way too fast/selfishly, been a few lately with the nice weather.

Sunny bank holiday weekends are not good times to do more than pootle on such routes. Was a older guy riding way too close/too fast past/at the walkers/kids on bikes etc on Monday on Hampton Court towpath. Not the only one but the one that sticks in memory.

Riding on a shared path approaching a pedestrian couple from behind when a cyclist appears from the corner ahead, at some speed, and almost piles into said couple.
'You need to slow down a little' says the lady, to which the cyclist shouts 'It's a cycle path' clearly implying that they should not have been there. No, you idiot, it's a shared path and you have a duty if care to others - specifically pedestrians. Not that you care, as you ride off without any concern for them.
I found myself apologising for the cyclist whilst conjuring images of someone who sits alone on the toilet sucking his thumb whilst pleasuring himself. Thanks for your contribution towards giving the rest of us a bad name. Off you f&ck, now...

    Yodel.
Ordered some stuff from Planet X and forgot they use the City Link replacement until the despatch email arrived. Missed the delivery cause it was attempted while I was at work on Tuesday and was out for delivery Wednesday so waited in all day and had the TV volume down lower than normal and hallway door open so I could hear the intercom should the driver ring it. No delivery attempted and no explanation either.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Minor rant; copper slip.

I fitted headset cups and a bottom bracket this morning and I'm still finding copper slip everywhere. When civilization has ended long in the future everything will have a very thin film of copper slip covering it.

Is it too early to rant about the hangover I expect to have in the morning?

Replaced the big chainring and chain on the Disc Trucker after only 2200 miles, bloody chain started skipping on the cassette, had a spare 9speed lying about but the bloody locknut was solid, ended up clamping the chain whip in the vice then using a breaker bar on the cassette tool and it took a bloody good tug to get it moving.

Disappointed by the short life going to downspec to 8 speed next time.

That's not a fault of 9 speed. I get over 15,000 miles out of big rings in 10 speed (all year riding) so I'd suggest something else is going badly wrong here!

F*cking fed up with the drivers who park outside one of the schools on my way in to work... the speed limit is 20mph (which they routinely ignore) and the road is very narrow with a cycle lane, so they simply drive fully onto the pavement to park up (after overtaking and then braking harshly)... and some even do this on the zig-zags at the traffic lights. On the f*cking pavement, on the zig-zags. It's rare to see any shoulder checks from them when they pull off from the pavement too, with some even doing u-turns there and blocking the lane while they wait for traffic on the other side of the road.

How stupid are these morons???

People who insist on hashtagging everything to death on twitter/FB, especially when they list the kit they used. If you're not paid to use it, you shouldn't mention it.

4:50 and I'm counting down the minutes until 5pm and it starts absolutely hammering it down. There was not supposed to be rain for at least another two hours!!! I've only got bibs and a jersey, no mudguards on my bike, no shoe covers. What an absolute shitstorm. British weather!

... and I just washed my bike on Saturday. It was spotless until today. Wasted a considerable amount of tissues to wipe it down. At least this time I am using proper chain lube, so hopefully no creaks tomorrow.

    Oh, yes, forgot something...
