- Rant the first: Third visitation of the year (after a p*nct*re-free 2015). Ruining a near-PB ride home despite the rain.
- Rant the second: Has anyone ever successfully gotten a glueless (i.e., sticker) inner tube patch to successfully work as a permanent fix (despite the application of sandpaper)?
- Rant the third: Replacement Stages PM is also plagued by dropouts. No time to get it replaced again before Ventoux. Will have to negotiate the climb using the Force.

Many thanks, but I'm a speedplay man. Ventoux this w/e is a jolly rather than a race, so riding right at (but below) the bleeding edge of threshold power isn't quite so critical. I knew what I was getting into with Stages, so not exactly surprised, just annoyed that my TSS/CTL data will be compromised.
Back on the fixie for the first time in a month as a result of rant the second: that is one steep gear.0 -

Hopefully nothing too serious?
Had an argument with a wall - sandpapered my entire arm, then tumbled off bike and did my knee and bum. Spray on Elastoplast seems to work pretty well - hurts like buggery tho!0 -
No more regular bike commuting for me. Bah.RIP commute...
Sometimes seen bimbling around on a purple Fratello Disc or black and red Aprire Vincenza.0 -
Reported a coach driver to the police this morning who either didn't see me, didn't care or was drunk...
He clipped my elbow going round a roundabout then nearly crushed me as we were both exiting the roundabout.
It was my first genuinely horrific commuting experience.0 -
1) Rant at stupid prat who missed the upcoming pedestrian island as they tried to overtake me, and then slammed on the brakes and "nudged" my pannier before accelerating and opening hard on the other side, only to get caught in the traffic 10 meters up.
2) Rant at myself who then absolutely flipped out and lashed my hand out against the window as they went past - unfortunately no dlock in hand, but my hand now hurts like hell.
3) Idiots who see that the left hand turn ahead has a queue in it, yet overtake 10m before hand, and still pull left, closing the road to me. Cue another lash out.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Whoops, glad your able to type it on here.
Did the coach stop?
Police are unlikely to do anything - do you know the coach company? They might be more receptive to apologise.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Tired.
Got back from Germany yesterday morning after 5/6 days away and I'm still recovering.
Oh, and had my first puncture in ten months.
In the rain.
When tired.
Still one in ten months is not too bad I guess!0 -

It will never cease to amaze me just how many mongs drive for a living. You'd think risking their livelihood wouldn't be worth it, but you see it time and time again.0 -

I know the coach company, he didn’t stop. A car pulled up a bit further down the road, asked if I was okay and gave me the reg of the coach. She didn’t want to give me her details though, I did make a note of her reg.
I called the bus company explaining that I wanted to speak with the driver. I just wanted him to know that I am a father and the bread winner of the house, I would have accepted an apology. I am not in the business of involving the police or putting peoples livelihoods at risk unnecessarily. The chap I spoke to explained that the driver would be back in the yard by 8.30 and he would call me. It got to 9am and he didn’t call, so I called the police non-emergency to report it.
Still not had a call from the bus company.0 -
The reason is that they get away with it.
If he was guaranteed to lose his ticket if he hit a cyclist (and it was his fault) then that would alleviate the situation!0 -

Similar thing happened to me about a year ago when some idiot clipped my arm when overtaking, the cops came around for what they all a 'cold call appointment' the next day and took my details. Credit to them, they did chase the driver and he was arrested, and interviewed under caution, whereupon the guy just lied and gave 'no comment'. The man was known to the police (local scumbag by all accounts, which probably explains the police being so eager) but without any CCTV or witnesses, was dropped due to lack of evidence. Now I always record my commutes0 -
Having sweated profusely this morning in my rain gear and getting drenched on the way home, I just checked the forecast for tomorrow. "Early mist, low cloud and any hill fog will gradually clear as most places become dry through the morning. Then bright or sunny spells, but with isolated thunderstorms probably developing." The BBC pictures suggest rain all day. So, what's going to happen?0

Having realised that you can manually add rides to Garmin Connect (Doh) I have gone back through the entire catalogue of rides, worked out approximately which ones are missing and am now in the process of adding them.
I really need to get out more.0 -

I have a letter of apology from the coach company on their letter headed paper signed by both the driver and the MD/Owner of the company. No explanation for his actions as this would incriminate him, but a genuine apology for causing me “worry and concern” on the road. I’m happy with the “outcome”.
At the very least I would hope he gives cyclists a slightly wider berth in future.

Plan for an evening of fettling with a beer. Instead, get home to a broken fridge freezer, a broken washing machine and overtired, hot kids and grumpy OH.

sorry it was probably my fault upsetting the rain gods by getting over excited about seeing the yellow orb in the sky I took my mudguards off the bike at the weekend...at least I remembered my overshoes (or just forgotten to take them out of my bag )...it was just my legs which got covered in god knows what rubbish slime was on the roads.
plus my chain side crank seems to have developed a slight wobble, albeit with nothing obviously loose.0 -
Looked at booking a few days off work in July, sorted a few days I wanted and went into the office to see availability before I completed a holiday form. Response was odd days available in May but nothing till second week in September which is when I'm already off.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Rants of the week:
1. Found my bike with the right shifter bent inwards the other day when I went to pick it up from the office parking. Still waiting for the results from CCTV, but was told today from a chap that some guy has pushed over my bike with his backpack (throwing the backpack on the floor, clipping my bike and tipping it over somehow  ). I think I know the guy, just waiting for CCTV to confirm and will be looking for an apology. One thing I am glad about - it happened to an Allez bike, nothing carbon on it, but there are some nice bikes in the office. I would be fuming if I found my bike with a cracked handlebar because of a careless twat.
2. Addison Lee taxis. These god damn Addison Lee taxis. Almost got left-hooked today, but common sense and good road practice prevailed as I had the feeling he is going to make a strange maneuver. Regardless of the fact I felt what was coming, the turning sequence is: First, use your turn indicator. Second, make the turn. NOT THE OTHER GOD DAMN WAY AROUND.

Garmin has started dropping out distance readings over the last 3 weeks - all GPS tracked properly, but distance is 1/2 of the covered distance.
Didn't notice until I uploaded them all last night. Going to have to frig the 25 files to recalculate the distance, unfortunately that won't correct the calories burnt though (Although that's so wrong anyway!)Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Having played "fish the wire" through the chain stay, I could have wept when I pulled it out again on adjusting the down tube section. The cats witnessed some choice invective and the dog narrowly avoided the flung multi-tool. As a result of my champion ineptness & petulant rage, recabling the RD took most of last night, and I lacked the time and inclination to take a test ride before today's commute. Since it held for the journey, I think I'll go double or quits this weekend on the FD, as the alignment suffered in the process.Location: ciderspace0

do you use a speed sensor? if this drops connection or the magnet is misaligned on some models of Garmin it will not record the distance.www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
Absolutely nailed tonight's ride home from work (less traffic, a lot of green lights and felt good) only to find my blinkin' garmin has only recorded the first 6 miles, which included 3 PBs.0
