Garmin has started dropping out distance readings over the last 3 weeks - all GPS tracked properly, but distance is 1/2 of the covered distance.
Didn't notice until I uploaded them all last night. Going to have to frig the 25 files to recalculate the distance, unfortunately that won't correct the calories burnt though (Although that's so wrong anyway!)

do you use a speed sensor? if this drops connection or the magnet is misaligned on some models of Garmin it will not record the distance.
    Yeah.
For the last month I'd forgotten to put the speed magnet on, but was using the cadence sensor on the gsc10 without any issues, and recording was good.
But in the last week and a half, half way through a ride it's suddenly decided that the magnet is there, and then the rest of the distance drops out.
It's OK though, I've written a quick and dirty app that checks for drop outs in a file, and if they are there then to rebuild the distance using the GPS positions that are still in the file.
Took an hour, but saved manualy dicking about with XML files.

Went out this afternoon and found out the rear brake wasn't working it's best AFTER going down a 46mph hill. When I eventually stopped it seems the inner pad on the BB5 calliper had worn down and wasn't sticking out of the calliper far enough. A few turns of the adjuster knob gave me some brake for the rest of the ride.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Felt well enough today to ride in, mainly due to all the fettling and clobber I bought on Saturday, but don't feel 100%

When you smoke 10 a day, you lose the right to blame your colds and 'dry nose' on the AC or the Baltic office temperatures.

And no, the shakes you get when you stop drinking aren't a sign you should carry on.

Ah yes - I see from another thread you;re now doing Raynes Park to Maidenhead

That's definitely still do-able - though probably only 2/3 times per week. Bits of that ride would be quite nice, too - if I were doing it, I'd go via Teddington, Ashford and Datchet. There'd be a little bit of grimness through Kingston and Windsor, but that route would mainly be clear. You could also go 'the long way' (via Ascot, Sunningdale and Weybridge) for a nice evening ride home

Its not for me! It is 50km each way and trying to plan a decent route is a bloody nightmare as far as I can see, which is a shame. I might consider once a week if I can find a nice, non main road but also non thames path way to go...

Got home tonight to find the PC halfway through an 'upgrade' to Windoze10, certainly not something I initiated myself and not something I would want to do. When the dialog box has appeared offering the upgrade I've politely refused their kind offer.

Riding in prime position at the speed limit , get very closely over taken by an idiot just at a dangerous crosswind junction.
Swear profusely, at which point they accelerate, then do a u turn in the road and drive me down and stops blocking the road and proceeds to gets put the car. Stops getting out of the car when I stand upright.

Proceeds to tell me 'they are a cyclist and a motorbiker, and I shouldn't be dominating the road for my safety, and he deliberately close passed me to make sure I considered my ways'.
Too flabbergasted to say much other than highway code 163, get the other side of the white line you flipping cretin'.

Then ten minutes of arguing before cycling away.
And now realised I've forgotten their numberplate . Must get that camera!

Just spent 2 hours on the phone to various stores trying to find my lost credit card. Turned the house upside down.

Finally, thought I should question the kids, just in case, to find one of them playing with his "toy wallet" in the living room. The presence of my card in it prompted him to claim that someone is setting him up.

Gah, puncture! Naturally on a day when I was (a) crushing it; (b) running late to an early meeting; (c) on a day when I have to jet off early.

Also, wiggle is offering 17% off for platinum folks this weekend. Is anything I want in stock? Absolutely not.

And while we're at it, picking up my second replacement stages PM on Sunday. Kind of an anti-rant (they have been good about replacing them without too much quibble), but still....

Man a flipping live am I glad to be posting here right now. Hopefully things come in threes and then piss off for a long time.
Prime worry was being overtaken by a pickup doing probably 80+ with ~ 3 inches spare. I have never been so scared in my life as I was fighting a crosswind one way, got dragged into its wake the other, then fighting the crosswind again, all within a second. Lorry behind was as least aware a slammed on the brakes to give me tons of room. Thanked him a with a physical hand shake at the next lights!

windows 10 is by far their best offering so far even on less than perfect hardware, do it while you can still for free if you dont like it you can rollback to window 7 but retain the 10 license for free should you change your mind in the future.

first be sure to remove all your AV and anti malware type software

Always irritating when the shear-head-off-bolt torque is less than the recommended tightening torque. Especially when the part that the rest of the bolt is now marooned within, a Ridley Noah seatpost clamp, costs £160 to replace.

I had a giant torque meter, (used only once as a test really). Second time I used in anger it had already stopped working and snapped the bolt on my new cranks.

To the lolly pop lady on CS3, I understand there are a number of tools who refuse to stop for you each morning which is unacceptable..and you're probably sick to death of "cyclists"..but to blame me for refusing to give way to a car that wasn't indicating at Sutton street shows you don't know what you're talking about. Just because he beeped his doesn't mean he was right, and indicating after the turn is the sign of a true moron
