This kind of thing drives me mad, especially when they edge past you at the lights to sit at the front. It's not so much the fact that you have to go around them again, it's their total lack of awareness of what's just happened the previous 4/5 times you've passed them. I don't get it.
Agreed - nothing more annoying than some f*cktard insisting on pushing in front at every set of lights despite being obviously slower than everyone else. Corollary to that though - some roadies are seriously f*cking slow moving away from the lights - seem to be in some sort of p1ssing contest whereby they won't lower themselves to changing down a gear or two thereby facilitating an efficient (doesn't need to be like a bullet) getaway wthout holding up everything behind them. Then get the ar5e that someone loses patience and comes through.
Bah! I hate everyone!
My appreciation of the human race is also vastly reduced after riding CS7. This is what it does to you!0 -

You might have seen this on the news at some point.
I could write my rant, but as they say a picture paints............
Ouch, hope you're alright mate. Motorists, this is exactly why cyclists like to keep away from parked cars. We're not trying to piss you off by sitting in the middle of the road, just protecting ourselves from idiots swinging their doors open.0 -
Left hooked by a black cab heading up Farringdon Road just after going under the viaduct. He's in the lane for straight on, not indicating. I'm alongside in the bus lane when suddenly he cuts me up to turn left, no indicator, nothing. I shout some choice expletives and grab the brakes, knocking into his cab. The chump gets out and tries to start having a go for me hitting his cab! Cycle off leaving him stopped in the middle of the traffic. I dislike cabbies more and more each day. They drive around spewing out fumes looking for fares, then as soon as they spot one the pricks forget they should check mirrors or signal and just do whatever they like.
Glad you ok
The ar5eholes and bad-drivers seem to be out-numbering the old fashioned "best professional driver in the world ain't we mate" at present. Twice I have been saved from nasty situations by superb driving / reactions
by black cabs - but their store of good karma is rapidly diminishing.
yep, I used to respect cabbies, read a few articles about the knowledge, but having twice been cut up by black cabs diving for a fare I am losing my patience.0 -
I was stood outside Victoria station on the Buckingham Palace Road, yesterday, just in the goods access waiting to cross the road. A bloke in my peripheral vision hailed the approaching cab and the unmitigated CLINT behind the wheel drove it straight at me, massively trying to make a point.
So unless you're a fare, whether you're on foot or on your bike, these w@nkers will drive through you.
And as for The Knowledge, well they never knew how to get to my previous address... and that was in Zone 2/1; not some far flung part of Sydenham.Ben

Sorry for the misunderstanding, this is not me, it was just a news article I saw.
This sort of thing has happened to me in the past though.
It was when I was about 12, I was cycling down a fast hill and someone opened their door on me. This being the days before cycling helmets, the next thing I knew was waking up in the ambulance on the way to hospital! What made it worse was as they were loading me in, my mates nan walked past and said that to herself that her grandson's friend wore luminous socks like that poor sod. (Think of the days when shawaddywaddy were riding high in the charts).
Oh and all my nan could say was "Did they have the siren on?"0 -
Worse day for nodders, boris-bikers, choppers, RLJers, rugby-socker etc and what ever the name is for dickheads on shiny bikes that think squeezing between a construction lorry and a bus as they go round a corner is a good idea - luckily the lorry-driver and bus-driver were awake & skilled and widened the gap as they realised what was going on
Saw one accident (battle for boris bike supremacy - egos bruised) and one aftermath (young women sitting up on kerb a bit dazed with ambulance crew)0 -
Six Boris Bikers RLJ'ed at the Blackfriars turning for Embankment. Caught them all at the ped crossing at the bottom of the ramp (which they had strangely stopped for) and wondered what the point was.
Almost rear-ended twice by choppers because I had the temerity to stop at red lights.
So, so much chopperdom.0 -
Idiot wwm yesterday tried to tell me that I should not take the lane and ride on the verge.
After explaining to him that I have the right to be wherever I please to be he decided to swear/ overtake/cut up and force me off the road. He got more aggressive and aggravated and come to a full stop with his front left wheel in the grassy verge blocking my way.
I had enough I told him that I'm going report him and he is on camera (pointing to my flashing headlight) which luckily made him change his mind about flattening me.
Such a shame as I go there about the same time most of the week, and now I can't help feeling anxious and nervous that he might turn up and gives me a push.
Didn't enjoy getting completely soaked last night and the headwind and rain combination this morning.0 -
With the kids off school my journey to work should be much better with the lack of cars about but it isn't! It seems the council have decided to dig up every road in the area all at once and put badly timed temporary traffic lights up that cause miles of traffic!
And to top it off, the one small stretch of cycle path I actually use has been 'repaired' by them doing that stupid road redressing on it (i.e. chucking tons of gravel on wet tar) but just the cycle path, so now it is just about 2 feet wide and a foot deep of gravel at the side of the road! fun!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -
I know that this is a bike forum. but some cuntfuckwit has left a big dent in the drivers side front wheel arch of my car when it was parked while i was at work, to which i rode to so there would be less cars on the road to help ease your journey.
I hope karma comes and bites you squarely on the arse and you get everything that you deserve. That wheel upgrade is now going to have to wait while my car, is repaired. CNUTS."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

1 day off commuting yesterday as i had meetings in London.
That b!tch fairy sneaked into my car boot and p*****red my front wheel. Went to get the bike out the car this morning and it was flat as a pancake!
Thankfully, had the track pump in the boot so was back on the road fairly quickly.
Oh, aaaand i left my bottle at home so it was a thirsty ride in (and will be home).0 -

D'you know, rather randomly i had one of those in my car (bought because they're effectively free with BP's "save 5p per lite of fuel when you buy two" deal). I tried to get it into my bottle cage but it wasn't having it. Maybe i've got a different bottle. Anyway, i guess i'll survive. It's only 13.5 miles.0 -
It was a bit creepy on the way home last night.
There is one long stretch of road just before a roundabout which is where the built up area starts.
Usually I get people blatting past, just so they can screech to a halt at said roundabout.
Anyway last night, nothing. No cars either way.
I thought there had either been an accident behind me, or I had dropped something in the road!
Not that I had anything big enough on me to bring traffic to a halt, but it gets you wondering what went on.0 -
two rants
1st is nothing to do with cycling .... I can't connect to my own domain email account from my home broadband - it's been blocked since yesterday - as I "do" IT I know it's not my settings - fortunately, being "in" IT I can get around it - but it's a PITA ...
2nd is to do with cycling ... I rode in this morning (unusual occurance these days) - and got stung twice on the chest ... must have caught a wasp in my top ...0 -
After my yesterday's witnessing of one cyclist rear-end-pushing a braking rider over his handlebars, this morning saw another lesson on the perils of drafting too close in traffic.
I was pushing along the Embankment approaching the Claverton St left-turn/T-junction. There was a rider right on my rear wheel. There was also a car waiting in the opposite lane to turn right, across us. When I/we were fairly close to the junction, doing around 25mph, the driver suddenly decided to move across. I had allowed for the possibility and altered my line to pass behind the car rather than in front. I also had room to brake hard if necessary but because of the guy on my wheel I didn't. As I was about to pass behind the moving-across car, it suddenly stopped, so I did an extra little kink around his rear wing. Trouble is, the guy behind me didn't swerve and smacked into the back corner of the car.
He wasn't a tube-strike rider, either, I see him quite a lot, but he does generally like my rear wheel. I stopped and backtracked to check he was OK, it sounded horrible, like breaking bike, but he was fine, grazed knee and bent-over brake-hoods only. The car driver also stopped and apologized ( ), but by my reckoning he (just) had the room to move across and it was cyclist's fault.Dolan Titanium ADX 2016

Blood stains on the canal bridge still there this morning from the older gentleman who took a tumble last night. He was with two good samaritans who had patched him up and was walking about.
This is why we wear helmets - not to appease some idiotic bureaucrat who likes rules, but because our head is too easily damaged0 -

Hope the bloke is ok.
And secondly you are so right on the helmet front, it beggars belief that people think that wearing a helmet makes them look daft.
You. Wife. This is aimed at you!
Luckily she'll never see this, I can be so brave in situations like this.0 -
Over grown bridleways, I look like I've lost a knife fight! and quite apart from the one bridleway with numerious clearly old fallen trees.
