The Conway contractors at Brixton who have helpfully signposted an 'Alternative Cycle Route' while they are replacing the shared pavement cut through. Unfortunately, if you follow their signs and the Highway Code, you'll end up in a perpetual loop. You have to make an illegal right turn to get onto their alternative cycle route.
They have also added some genuinely useful information though on one sign though - pointing out that unlike the usual cycle route, these traffic lights don't give priority to cyclists making a right hand turn so we should wait for the oncoming traffic to clear. Two numpties ignored this advice this evening and were nearly flattened.0 -

Idiots with dogs out in force today.
Militant old geezer. Slowed to walking pace before giving a polite 'morning, coming past on your left'. To which he deliberately steps in the way and stops with his dog and associated tripwire on the other side of the path, before giving it the 'you should have a bell' speech. Quite how that differs from the noise of me letting him now of my approach with a friendly greeting remains unclear. Told him as much to which he repeated his 'You should have a bell'. 'Its a cycleway mate, theres going to be bikes on it'. Then i kicked him in the nuts and stole his wallet for my trouble.
Only to be held up a couple of hundred yards later by a woman with a pair of toy dogs, one of whom makes a suicide dive under the front wheel, avoided by my again having already slowed in anticipation. 'Sorry! he just doesnt get bikes'. Oh, thats alright then.
The real piss boiler is that until the weather warmed up there were only 2 regular dog walkers on this route. Presumably the rest of the time the owners just dont bother giving themselves or their dogs any exercise.0 -

He deserved that, mainly because he's wrong. You're not required to have a bell, any audible warning device (including your voice) is fine. Plus, your polite warning is much more informative than a bell anyway.0 -
If you pull out in front of me at a roundabout, at least give me a nod to say either F.U. I don't care or sorry didnt see you, or some other acknowledgement. Please don't just drive on past pretending you didn't see with that constipated look on your face. :roll:0

I had a incident with a tool in a white van even before I reached the end of my road this morning. To your question of how you're to get passed me when there is oncoming traffic is pretty simple. Just wait! especially if its on a bend and you are heading towards traffic lights which are probably on red (they were!). It is not my fault your a poor driver so don't put your blame on me for your fekking stupidity! If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. PM for details.0

Got approached for a role back in early March, similar to what I know now, only more cash, a better market to cover, and, ostensibly, a more professional outfit.
Anyway, first interview went well, second interview with the owner went well, third interview (after a 3 week wait...!) where I met the rest of the firm (all but the support staff - it was a long interview) went well too, apparently.
Got good feedback from them (literally, not through the middle man) - and was told I'd hear by the end of the week.
That was three weeks ago. Every time they keep pushing back. Since round two they've said, (and reminded me) that I'm the only person in the process. Each time it's "haven't been able to sit down to discuss" blah blah. It's an office of 20. I find it difficult to believe.
I get the impression now that the role itself is a bit more up in the air than they led me to believe.
I'm so fed up. I've even talked turkey with them, and they said it's just a case of getting the offer together.
I've been on tenterhooks for so long now.
Fed. Up.
I've made it as clear as I can without looking too punchy that I want to know either way asap.
Well, surprise surprise, they're not hiring anyone.
Feel like a mug - getting sucked in like that.0 -

Yeah.
I figured since they retained the recruiter, who's good (from my perspective :P), they weren't messing about.
*shrugs*. You live and learn eh?
I've seen it before with out candidates. We get all excited, the candidate gets excited, then the client f*cks it for everyone.0 -

My wife has been through that twice with the same county council. Go all the way through the system to find they decide they're not hiring. With preparing for the interviews, time off for them and all that she's probably lost over 4 days. Never mind the worry and the stress, which she does a lot of anyway.
Really annoys me. I am annoyed for you Rick

To the woman in the blue BMW who passed me with inches to spare despite the fact that there was a red light barely 30 yards ahead,
I'm sure that it was really very important for you to have enough time sitting in the queue for the lights to eat your sandwich. But was it really more important than giving me just a little bit of room for manoeuvre on a wet road?
Yours WTFingly,

F*ck this cold too.
Chest is still very painful whenever I breathe, and I'm getting sh!t at work for being "sniffly" - I can't help I've got enough bright green snot coming out of my nose to fill a small swimming pool.

+1 on the cold front, first ride out since Saturday. Thought I was okay, got about a mile from home and noticed I had the lung functions of a 75 year old with a lifetime of working with asbestos. Still managed to beat the pavement hopping, traffic light avoider, MTB dude... even had time to stop and clear my nose.0

Pheasants!!
Managed to scare one out the hedgerow on the weekend, which then promptly decided it needed to release some balast in order to gain altitude. It was only a small pheasant but it deposited a whole lot of luck down my left side.
Cycling buddy was just far enough back to avoid the shower but close enough to get a great laugh out of it.
When does shooting season start again?? :twisted:0 -

I really hate PT.
I am feeling particularly shattered today, so I got the tube. Not a mistake that I will be making again anytime soon! would rather take two hours and travel at 5 miles an hour, than have to endure that."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

Sounds like the perfect environment to me! My eldest son (2 and a half) loves nothing better than shouting along to the Batman theme tune. I've added 'flying down the motorway' verse, which he finds hilarious.FCN 3 / 40 -
Apparently me tapping on her window and telling bint in a Fiat 500 texting and paying zero attention to the road is far more dangerous than what she was doing.
I assume her tetchyness was a product of her knowing she was squarely in the wrong and having no defense. Her lack of ability to do more than one thing at once was proven by her winding her window dwn to shout this to me meant she strayed straight into the path of an oncoming car!If I know you, and I like you, you can borrow my bike box for £30 a week. I got hit on the head by a bat a few years back, riding along beside the Thames at dusk.
If they've got such great radar and flying skills as they're meant to have, I can only conclude that it did it deliberately to frighten me.
