LBS emailed me Monday saying that the new frame had arrived. By Tuesday we'd re-confirmed the build spec (all of which is in stock), and the guy I'm dealing with promised to speak to the workshop and get back to me with a build time, he also asked me to get the wheels to them. Dropped off the wheels and pedals first thing yesterday morning but heard nothing re build time. Today I emailed him about that, only to be told he'd asked the workshop but been ignored. I've waited 3 months for this frame to arrive, and clearly I'd like to get my hands on the bike ASAP (ideally over the weekend). Being told that the workshop are "ignoring him" really p1sses me off. I'm spending a good wad of cash on this build, have purchased all components aside from wheels and pedals from the store. In return I expect the sales guy to be pushing this build through for me.
Am I being unreasonable I wonder. Either way, grrrrrrrr.- 2023 Vielo V+1

I suspect he's not actually been in the shop much this week and has simply emailed them.
I'm gonna call them if I don't hear back by this arvo. Thing is, I want his assistance tweaking the final fit, so don't want to sour what up until now has been a good relationship.- 2023 Vielo V+1

Why did no one tell me it was HGV driver "drive like a d**khead" day today. Every one of them that passed today more or less barged their way through barely giving enough room. As did some lazy pr**k of a bus driver who just couldn't be bothered turning the wheel a little to overtake me using the empty other lane.
ofc it is partly my fault for being far enough into the kerb that there was room for them to barge past. Must stop getting intimidated by heavy traffic and hold my line.0 -

I bullied a bus coming head on at me the other day and won. It's on film, I was quite impressed with myself.

Phoned the shop, they told me I'd need to speak to the sales guy about it - he was on lunch. FFS.

CS7 really is sh1t isn't it? First time on there in ages, I'd forgotten quite how many sets of lights there are, all of which I seemed to get stopped at today. Reminded me why I used to RLJ so much more before I moved. And that blue paint - its like ice in the wet! Managed to lose it just after Balham station, moderate braking onwhat liked a new piece of paint and down I went as I lost the front wheel (actually, I stayed upright as I bounced off the car next to me!).
Had a crack at Balham Hill and Court House Sprint which were the only sections where I was only nominally troubled by lights, but don't think the legs had it today.0 -
Bloody awful headwind all the way in today (it's normally a minor tailwind) just like it's been all bloody week. The wind that was meant to whisk me off home, didn't. It buggered off, and someone dropped a cross-wind across the area instead.
On top of that it started p*ssing down 5 minutes before I set off and just got harder and harder and harder, right along with the temperature getting lower and lower and lower. Today was not a red letter day in the history of bike commuting.
I can only say:

Riding to work on the MTB, It's my best bike. I am very fond of it.
But it's driving me nuts on the commute, so slow and Rumble.......
waiting for insurance to pay up so I can get a new commute bike...0 -

That's dull, sorry to hear about the theft. Hope you get a nice new bike at the end of it.0 -
Don't try and bully me out of your way, I am following a bus at the same speed. Don't try and put your bonnet under my right elbow. Then when waiting at lights do you swing up the inside of me (and into the cycle lane) and tell me to use the cycle lane. Don't then try and shove me out of the way with your car. Next time I won't just slap your wing mirror. I'll smash it off and shove the remains down your throat. I shall be keeping an eye out for your car !
PS what's the best way to kick a car when riding fixed - I decided it would be difficult at 90 rpm.0 -

Did you pull the 'really obviously turn around to look at their bumper every 2 seconds' trick? Works 80% of the time for me.0 -

should get like for like, so same again, but thats fine as I liked that bike.
I think i'll cross your commute path though at walking speed and at about a gazzillon RPM... also far to early or late for most.0 -

Ditto.
Also add a wobble every so often.0 -
Disappointed I'm ill today.
Was nice & muggy outside - tend to ride quite well in these conditions.0 -
Has Five Live been running a lot of phone-ins about the exorbitant cost of orange/green/blue road paint that the knock-on effect of "road tax"? I've had abuse three times in the last few days about not using cycle lanes (which either go through a very busy door zone, or split lanes at a dangerous junction), every time when I was keeping up with or actually being held up by other traffic. What makes these cretins think that they should demonstrate their lack of knowledge in road law by driving at people? Do they expect buses to only ever use the bus lane, and aim at any pedestrians who get out of a bus that wasn't?0

Still hung over from Saturday night, probably shouldn't have cycled in this morning, difficulty focusing. Alcohol really dosnt agree with me.0

The end of a bell driving a Passat this morning who stuck two fingers up at me after trying to squeeze me at a pinch point..... <----that, and a slow handclap are all you deserve and all you got.
I could sense him trying to push through, in a 30 zone, while I was doing a smidge over 20mph, past a bollard. All of 2 metres of raised kerb in the centre of the road. He was less than a foot from my back wheel, so I made a (genuinely) polite "move out THEN go past" gesture. He responded by putting his foot down and flicking me the V as he went past. He got a slow handclap in his rear view mirror, which I got another V for, and then a disappointed shake of the head when I passed him in the ~mile long queue of traffic a few minutes later.0 -
Quick and dirty screen print for your delectation...
This is an NSL stretch of road; the car coming the other way had to slow to an almost complete stop to avoid a head on. The video shows the Mondeo on my side actually pulling IN at this moment. I was so surprised by it all I didn't have time to react - if there had been ANY more movement from the Mondeo I would've been off.
The thing is: I swear I've seen this car a few times and he is always too close.Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

I've just watched the playback and it gets worse. As there is a witness and I can clearly see the reg number I'm going to make a complaint to the Police. Hopefully they may have already done so, or will come forward when asked.

Here's hoping it gets assigned to an officer who cycles and can thus "appreciate" the lack of care & attention demonstrated. Ever get a result from the canine capers muppet?Location: ciderspace0 -
