I'd suggest he's got a load of new labrador puppies going free to good homes and he should post an advert on Gumtree. That or a pint of single cream down his air vents infront of his windscreen now the weather has turned nice.

Gotta go to a funeral tomorrow.
The person wasn't particularly well liked so everyone will be putting on a front.
I have to drive so I can't drink.
It will be hot and I can't wear a t-shirt and shorts.
    I will miss Morpeth drinks.

+1! I hung a load of washing out at the weekend, went out for a few hours (during which time a local farmer decided to do a load of muck-spreading) and came back to find my clothes all stinking of manure. So back into the washing machine...

My other rant is that I had an operation yesterday and 1) the general anaesthetic has knocked my sleep patterns hout and 2) the surgeon says I can't ride for "two to three weeks". But I have the Great Manchester Cycle in less than a fortnight. Might have to reassess that one.

    "2 to 3 weeks". So 2 weeks.

F**kwit of a First Bus driver on Oxford Street.... first he pulls out from behind a stationary bus without signalling then proceeds to go round the right hand side of the central bollard because there's no space between bollard and bus in front. Then he makes 3 attempts to pass on the wrong side of the road, but each time can't because of the central bollards (there are a lot in Oxford St) so finally attempts a pass and goes to the right of the last set of bollards before the road narrows at the junction with Oxford St where the lights are red... all this time I'm maintaining a reasonable and constant near-20mph which given the number of Peds about is a safe speed. ... he can see they are red and he still makes the pass only to stop behind a line of traffic at the lights and I end up in front again. I look at him and shrug my shoulders, he gesticulates wildly waving at the left hand side of the road. I show him two inches between finger and thumb, referring of course to several potential measurements. I let him decide which one I meant and leave him standing in traffic on the run past Gower St.

    And breathe...

Other than that, a lovely sunny run in, and I even pootled a bit (through Colindale, behind a lovely young thing on a Trek 7.1 :) )

Saw a bloke who wasn't quite RLJing but was aggressively and optimistically anticipating the light change at Vauxhall bridge on the way home.

Was so keen on looking at the lights, he bumped into some ped about 10m in front of the ASL who gave some some comment. Sounded light hearted, could not have been.

Anyway, bloke on a bike gives him the finger. And not the pleasurable kind. *sighs*

To the two idiots in team kit (Sky and HTC Highroad), riding up the Great North Road yesterday...
It's rush hour, don't ride two a breast chatting.
And when you need to turn, use hand signals. And when you do turn, don't cut across a lane in front of a car, forcing it to brake.

Commuting around Newcastle isn't too bad, but motorist opinions will soon change with you two on the road.

Family, so no option unless I wanted to be more of a pariah than I already am. Also, there should be some good grub.

I think I've solved the (lack of) drink problem, but it means taking a bus.

Riding through London today, pretty windy, never had so much debris and crap go into my eyes every minute than this before!

Usually get the odd bit off bus soot or something, but this was crap every 50m, eyes were really sore after a 20min ride. Anyone else have this problem today?

Also joined that critical mass thing at Waterloo for about 100m as it was part of my commute from were they set off. Damn that lot must piss off alot of drivers! So many horns being sound and cyclists were stopping cars midway round the roundabout so all the cyclists could go though!

To the hell-hole and backwards facing dump that can only be described as "Bletchley", and specifically the Tesco that they keep there, next to Matalan and over the road from T K Max. You get the idea. Halfway across the car park I have to take avoiding action when two bints in a Micra fail to take account of the idea that in car parks, people walk to and from their cars so doing less than 30 is probably a good plan.

And I watch as the same Micra ignores the many empty bays and swings into the disabled bay nearest to the shop, and the same two bints dive out and walk briskly (but not smartly) to the shop. After a brief but open exchange of opinions I discover that parking in disabled bays is fine if you're only there for two seconds, or are in a flying rush, or are a bit dense, or are simply a bit of a selfish ignorant tart. That's ok then.

Acc to the armed guard inside the shop, drivers that use the disabled bays without a valid badge receive a £70 fine through the post. Yeah right, I bet they do. They need a machine gun nest ferreted away by the ATM for a more immediate incentive to keep out of the disabled bays.

Sometimes you have to 'take one for the team'. This was one of those times.

    Back to the rants:
At the wake I turned my phone back on and received a voicemail from the garage where I had taken my car the previous day for a service and MOT, asking me to call. I called and they asked me to come in, which I could as it was within walking distance of the wake.
Anyway, to make a long story short, £900 potential bill!

needed to use them since they are the only stockest of the bike I wanted, this said they are no worse than plenty of the other shops around, mainly the lack of knowledge plus arrogance.

Went to local with new bike who where much more friendly, and knew stuff, which is kinda the point of bike shops.

Our neighbours are putting up a gazebo in their garden. If their gathering in it ends up like last year's birthday celebration, I have a feeling I'm going to be very tired tomorrow at work (and not because I'm at the party).

Just rock up with a bottle of wine and tell them that as they will be keeping you awake anyway, you may as well join the party.

Then I might need to eat the food they've just cremated. You can tell us Scots don't get barbcue weather very often

Now they have music on :(

I really should live in a bungalow in the middle of nowhere. We've been spoiled for so many years with neighbours who just sat out and sunbathed. Now we have ones who actually celebrate birthdays and enjoy the sun as a family. It's most annoying.

We had four of our neighbours around last night. Stumps were finally pulled at 3am. The neighbours can't complain about the noise is they are at the party!

Anglophobic welsh pr1cks. You can go a year without having to deal with one (especially now I'm so close to the English border they are thin on the ground) but then you run into one that makes you feel like selling the house and setting fire to Wales on the way out. It gives me a bit of an understanding how those of you who are black or are friends of Dorothy must feel at times when you bump into this sort of casual unthinking predjudice.

I remember once remonstrating (gently) with a guy from a few doors down in the last town I lived in who thought it was acceptable behaviour to dump the fag ends, empty cans and McDonalds shite out of his car onto the pavement outside my house. "Well at least I'm Welsh" was his reply. Says a lot.
