Keep riding like that and you'll be a statistic by the end of the month.

I was wondering how you could go from Anti Rants to Rants so quickly, but now I know.

:D was the yin to the yang, just hope i get home with out any problems from the trafic.
  • First ride out on my bike and just as got back and entered my estate I noticed the massive pothole I was heading for. A rear puncture soon became a knackered wheel which soon became £100 lighter! Luckily for me my LBS helped me out massively, ready for take 2. :?

To the charming individual who let their dog take a dump in the middle of the cycle lane and then covered it over with leaves instead of picking it up.

I hope one day you have to clean cr*p off your shoes or your childs bike and to can enjoy the stink of it and then cleaning off the brake bridge and back of the rear seat tube as I had to when I got home this evening.

It still amazes me ( and it probably shouldnt ) that people dont clean up after their dogs.

I dont blame the dog its not it fault it needed to go for a dump, I blame the owners, and before you lot start, I have two Black Labs and I always clean up after them, if I can do it why cant everybody.

    meh...
  • Yet another f*cking copper tries to take me out by swinging a sudden left just in front of me. I'm starting to think they've got it in for me. Oh, and thanks to plod in the passenger seat for offering a how-dare-you-say-that-to-an-officer look when I shouted 'Oi!' Tw@ts!

The one that always blows me away is people who walk their dogs quite a distance off the beaten path (I'm specifically thinking of the Campsies back home and the surrounding moorland,), take bags for their dog's doings, pick it up in said bag, and then hang the bag from a tree or a bush.

I presume that they do it so they don't have to carry it the two miles back to the nearest car park, but if you're going to go to all that effort why not just take a trowel and bury it?

Rounding a corner on a trail to be confronted with a bag of dog crap at face height is right up there on my list of unpleasant experiences.
  • The guy that let his 2 rottweilers take a dump on the pitch while our 6 year old was training with team mates. Can't believe you took exception when asked to clean it up.
Nobody told me we had a communication problem
  • Pillocks with dogs on these mental "reel" leads that just let the fecker wander across the path on the extended line - which is of course invisible to the speeding cyclist

    To the three (THREE!) separate bus drivers this morning who think it is;

    (a) acceptable to travel at 22mph with nearside wheels straddling the cycle lane

    (b) cut in to bus stops just after passing a cyclist - it's "mirror-signal-manoeuvre" moron, not "start moving-signal at last instant-wonder what the shiny things on the corner of your bus are for"

    (c) wait until a cyclist is nearly upon you (complete with very bright flashing front lights and wearing hi-viz) then pull out using the above technique. Fecker did it at two consecutive bus-stops and ruined a potential wind-at-the-back downhill PB top speed. Grrrrrr

Having my Hope battery pack completely die on me on the first dark evening in the park. Luckily it's still in warranty and I had my Knog frog emergency lights fitted the day before. N+1 on lights people.

The little c**t that was trying to nick my bike whilst I pushed a broken down car out of the 4 lanes of traffic on my way home tonight. Did you really think I was just going to leave it at the side of the road in a ride able condition for you to make off with?

To all the car drivers that just kept honking and swerving round her, thanks for not stopping to help it just made it take twice as long and I still passed you all 500m down the road where the traffic was at a standstill.

I would like to say thank you to the bus driver though that used his bus to block 2 lanes off traffic long enough to get the car off the road that was nice thought and I appreciated it. Thanks.

Chap in a baby blue cotton t-shirt and black running shorts on (I think) a Willier, Kings Road 0730 this morning:

    1. Riding an overlap on my back wheel is not clever

    2. Trying to undertake is not clever

    3. Jumping red lights is not clever

Your road manners are dreadful. Bad enough for an Aussie roadie to comment, "He's gonna get creamed riding like that". Sort it out before the prophesy comes true.

The wind.....that is all. Its gale force here in L'pool

oh still on the same topic as the wind, why do you always get smug buggers riding the opposite way to you with a tailwind behind them basically riding with their arms behind there head plodding along with not a care in the world

as oppose to you me riding into the wind trying to breathe out of my skin i'm that knackered getting battered by the wind.....its just not right i tells you

Time to lobby for a bigger bike shed! More cyclists = better for you in the long run ;)

Hangover and wind. Plus when I stopped for a young lady at a zebra crossing on a dual carriageway in Chavworth 2 cars carried on past. She smiled sweetly and told me I might as well carry on.

Blooming Garmin lost last nights ride data where I flew along the embankment.
Not sure where but I hit 34.5 as that still shows on the summary & I managed to spend much of millbank sprint north of 30.
Slight relief as my camera footage shows that end to end wasn't really much faster than my previous best time. I guess acceleration at the start from the lights add up quite a bit. Will need to remember that as a tactic..

My medium Trek/VW bibs have had enough of trying to stretch over my large body and have developed a hole right by the pad :( I might have a go at sewing them and relegate them to winter use only with 3/4 tights.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    Sigh....FFS. Journey from hell tonight.

    Left from work late.

Then 2 mins away from work a completely bladdered bloke walks out into the cycle lane on Lower Thames Street. I nearly hit him after braking hard and swerving, he gets shirty and I end up in a shoving argument because he accuses me of nearly running him over  Yes mate I always aim to hit people at 25mph, it's a brilliant feeling.

Then, 10 miles in I'm in the cycle lane at Seven Kings, Ilford (I don't expect anyone to know it) I'm following the speed of the traffic, around 20mph when a scooter overtakes me and then, when noticing the traffic is slowing down he jumps up the inside in the cycle lane and then immediately slams on his brakes because he's realised he's not going to get between the gap of the parked car and the stationary traffic. This would have been all fine and dandy ofcourse if the idiot hadn't pulled in front of me, giving me the massive braking distance of 5ft.

    Pang!

My front wheel and shoulder hits the scooter and sends him flying. Cue much shouting, him calling me a fucking idiot for hitting him, me calling him a fucking idiot for doing what he did, shoving and head to head butting. He then calls me (and I quote) "White bastard", he was Indian, not that it makes a blind bit of difference for this argument. I asked him to repeat it, so he did, with the added "White piece of sh1t" afterwards.....nice.

Suffice to say it all ended very amicably after more shoving and headbutting with him spitting at me and riding off, the red mist then descended sufficiently enough for me to run at him (from behind a parked van that he had to get passed) with my bike held out in front of me (chain ring pointing out, natch). This sent him flying off his scooter when making contact, luckily for me I think, it was stationary traffic still and he landed on the side of an AA van. I then decided to walk off (couldn't ride off with 4 busted spokes and bent rim) spending the next mile walk to the nearest train station expecting another encounter as he caught up with me......he didn't.

I remember thinking for a split second after the initial hit, calm down. get your phone out and take a picture of the number plate (I no longer have my Muvi Veho that I sold last week!) when I noticed the plate was cracked in half already! and with the ensuing argument/row/fight it would have been seen as 50/50 anyway.

I'm not, in no way condoning my actions. It was embarrassing when I look back on it (maybe quite amusing to watch) but I will not ever tolerate being called racist or spat at. I think I did well to stop when I did.

I'm still fuming three hours after getting in, bike in the shop - a new Fulcrum 5 incoming I feel.

    Sigh.....

Never any excuse for spitting. Only thing to be ashamed of is what you did to your poor bike.
  • Less of this sort of thing. I may have done the same with the provocation, but it's an unedifying account. Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.

That said, a blue sports car sideswiped me this morning and made me so mad I cut in front at the lights. I may have been slow setting off, then I may have stopped in the middle of the lane to dismount outside the shop. Either way I got a "Twat!" from the driver. I shouted "Use your indicators!" and she gave me the finger.

  • stuj15 why didn't you call the police. the guy sounds a tool and obviously wound up, but racial abuse is a crime- no matter what race its directed at.

having said this i would guess you chances of getting the police to give a sh!t would be almost nill.
