I thought it must be you that Damo was talking about on EssexHerts.

Known as an Arnhem, a bridge too far. :)

    Hope it mends quickly.

Rode Friday, met Damo going the opposite way.

The trails were very fast, kept running out of gears. :)

Hope the leg mends quickly so you can get out on your steed.

Epping was superb this weekend, probably the best I have ridden it.

I'm road biking for the next few weeks, training for an event. I'll be up for a fast tour of Thorndon Late May though.

Hi. I live in Benfleet and have just discovered that there is more to Essex than just riding around hadleigh castle.... I tried langdon hills today and got completely lost and spent ages going in circles. Do you guys still do a regular ride there? Can I just tag along? I doubt i wil be able to keep up, but i'll give it a good go! I also fancy a trips to brentwood and epping aswell if i can tag along.

With all of these rides anyone is welcome, whenever going somewhere new Amway try and go with a person who knows the area, otherwise you could miss loads of stuff. Not sure when I'll be doing Langdon or Epping again but I'll be doing a night ride in thorndon if you want to try that?

Hello, new to MTBing but discovered Thorndon Country Park as I live fairly close and its pretty good in places. I am really unfit but if I can drag my arse out of bed early enough on a Saturday you can rip through the woods and terrorise the squirrels and rabbits without seeing another human. I start at the North entrance and vary routes down to the south entrance. The tree roots and horse hoof holes make it bumpy in places and I only have a Halfords Carrera Vulcan (stop sniggering) but it hasn't broken yet.
I hope to try Langdon Hills as well - is it better, worse or just different?
Where else is good in Essex? I read about the Olympic track at Hadleigh farm but it won't be open to the public until 2013!

    Cheers.

Well I did one of my usual routes through Cherry Orchard Park, Grove Woods, and across into Hockley Woods last night.. A few excellent downhill and good flattish sections and some good climbs to keep the heart pumping :D

Had my first crash too :) Bunch of bruises, a few cuts, but all good.. not a mark on the bike that I could see, so picked it up, brushed myself off and got straight back on and finished the downhill section 8)

JC, the OP of the Thorndon Thread was with me.. A good 15 mile ride-out.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 previous Thorndon rides with 'SurfBum' to guide us round the best bits:D

I also like to do Belfairs, into Pound Wood, across to Tile Wood, loop round and back.

Not yet done Hadleigh Downs, unfortunately mates going there tonight but I can't make it :(

Hope to do Danbury very soon as my MaxxRaxx bike rack arrived today so will be easy to transport the bike to somewhere I can't easily ride to. 8)

    Ev

Edit.. Just saw the previous posts in between... May try to get over for the Saturday morning Thorndon ride..
  • oooooooo sat ride with robert pb may be what i need ha ha ha how you been mate long time no see or hear , i think ill jump on the wagon with you lot and see you there .... if you can make it for sat do turn up you will NOT be disapointed trust me  until sat then  black side down

Hi guys, is the Kart Track carpark, the one at the North entrance? I may be able to make Saturday if I get early enough.
    Thanks
